We were in Ky enjoying a nice weekend at Lake Herrington with our family. We decided to rent a pontoon to have an extra boat so that everyone can all hang out and still social distance themselves. Chimney Rock Marina is one of a few marinas in the area that offers pontoon rentals. The Marina is well kept and family run. The pontoon was a 21' Bentley, which was clean and a decent rental. We had a great afternoon on it. Overall great experience and nice memories made. I did want to mention that I was a bit taken back when we returned the pontoon keys. We came back to the Marina and immediately walked the kids back to the RV to change and clean up a bit. Part of the rental agreement is "no pets allowed " We are rule followers, and we locked up our dog in the RV all day. When my wife and I, and now our dog on a leash, walked back down to the Marina to drop off the keys and end the rental, the owner accused us of bringing the dog on the boat. It was very awkward and really turned me off. I encourage them to review their video ( cameras everywhere) to stand corrected. 1 star off. read more

If it wasn't for our summer escape at Lake Herrington, we would both be fried splotches on the pavement by now! Every weekend, we make the 45 minute drive south to stay in our fifth wheel camper and go boating on our tritoon. We love chimney rock Marina, which is where we keep our boat. There is actually a big rock just outside of the marina that is the "chimney rock" & people young and old climb it just to say they did and then jump off of it into the lake! One of these days I'm going to make it up there but everything that a seven with my leg has made it impossible to date. Of course there is swimming to keep us cool on the lake, and the AC cranked up in the camper. Speaking of AC, ours just bit the dust at home in Lexington. BIG shoutout to John Blevins at Barkley Blevins who took my call on a Saturday and went out to look at the ac. Turns out the unit outside had broke off a fan blade & sounded like the space shuttle trying to take off! It is about 15 years old so we knew this day was coming. John is going to make sure Monday morning that we have a new unit and are up and running again. I love summer though and wouldn't trade any of this for the world. read more

Hands-down the worst marina on any lake in Kentucky. We pulled up to the dock to get gas and no one was there to catch the boat or to pump the gas or to take payment for the gas. We then waited for an hour and a half in the restaurant for our food while there were only a few tables in the entire restaurant with people. I've been there before and it was just as bad but I thought it must've been a bad day not the case!! Do yourself a favor and find another marina to go to for your gas and your food!! read more

This is the best place on Herrington Lake by far. The 4th of July fireworks were amazing, and we had breakfast at the marina the next am. Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. I had the western omelet. Simple I know, but perfectly done. Can't get this cheaper at a more widely know establishment, and with this atmosphere, why'd you want to? We ate at a neighboring marina the day before, and the service and food was nowhere near as good as Chimney Rock. Will be returning!!! read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. Just walked in the door from Chimney Rock Marina and dressing my husbands arm he tore on the boat metal. Having been a nurse working the Covid 19 pandemic 60-72 hour weeks to maintain the safety and staff for my resident's I finally had a weekend where all my family was free to gather and wanting outdoors I had contacted the marina and left a message. We live on lake Herrington and before purchasing a pontoon wanted to try out the lake as well. The owner called me saying she had a cancellation and after confirming with my family I gladly took the rental. She explained we had $250 deposit which shouldn't be a problem because we have always taken excellent care of our belongings and especially others property. The elderly man/owner walked me straight back to the rotor and had young man lift it out of water and kept stressing how it had no damages and it's a new boat go on get inside look as you can see it's a new boat. And the young boy 16 years old showed my husband how to start the boat. Like I said he never gave us opportunity to look outside. I noticed others going fast on rentals and thought aren't they afraid cause we are creeping and scouting for logs and debris. We had such a wonderful day myself, my husband of 41 years, our daughters, grand daughters, my 87 year old Mother that just lost her sister, best friend and neighbor and my sister that just lost her best friend. So see we needed this day and it was prefect. But their was so much debris in the lake we didn't get in the water, just rode around being together and had picnic/sandwiches on the pontoon. We kept it immaculate but when we pulled in to fuel up the man said there's a dent and went to get owner. My daughter was standing at the restaurant area and before the man could mention the dent to the elder owner the owner said that dent wasn't there yesterday. As a nurse of 36 years I can assure you a young man with perfect vision could not have seen that dent from the restaurant area. There was a dent in front left front side that the young 16 year old popped back out and the elderly woman/owner said stop pushing it before you poke a hole in it. Now having lived I know a scam when I see it and I can judge a persons character within seconds and I can assure you these two people have scammed their whole lives. The dent was probably already there and it's hard to say how many more people will be charged for this dent or other damages. The dent was completely gone and not visible in my photos when we left yet they said there's still a crease. If a boat dents with water splashing on it then don't buy a Tahoe because thats all that touched that boat was water. These people in a matter of seconds stole that perfect day from my family from me a nurse that has gave up my life for my residents for over a year and a half. Please look elsewhere for a pontoon or any rental. Owners said they didn't care for a bad review but I fell I need to warn others. read more

My wife and I took a drive to Lake Herrington yesterday (Monday) Labor Day weekend. We ended up at Chimney Rock Marina and had lunch. I see mixed reviews and I guess it depends on your expectations. We were in no hurry. We were just out enjoying the sights, watching the boats, people and the beautiful weather. The food was great! We both had club sandwiches with fries. It was so much food we could have both eaten just one order. It was a little expensive at $31 plus tip but so worth it!! The waitress was great and very attentive. The kitchen was slow but we were in no hurry. The place was clean, well kept. It was an unexpected pleasure for my wife and me. We sat and enjoyed each others company and fed the fish. Their shirts said "we are on Lake Time" and it was a true statement! We will go back next season. read more

Was so disappointed! Our order was taken at 8 - food finally arrived at 9. There were five other tables waiting on food as well. The people next to us arrived at the same time and finally got their food at 9:20 but had already left! Waitress never brought my salad and my pasta was sticky and overcooked. My husband liked his Nachos though. No booze - no internet service - and no food makes for a bad experience. We won't be back. read more
