Text a friend who's daughter when to Tech for a recommendation as we would be driving through Lubbock for an early dinner. Text back Triple J, so into the GPS it went. We arrived early evening so there was plenty of seating. Our server was Megan. She was excellent. We started off with the sidewinders - shrimp and cheese stuffed in a jalapeno and fried. They were tasty. We also ordered the steak tip salad and went old school with the chopped steak. All were delicious. I even enjoyed one of their home brews - Windmill Wheat. We were too stuffed for dessert, so we ordered a bread pudding to go... Oh, my deliciousness - I had the bread pudding later that night, I wish we had ordered two. Highly recommend it!!! Macie was our server and she was fantastic ! We were in town for our daughter's orientation at Tech- and we wanted a good local spot for dinner - and Triple J was perfect. Servers are all warm and friendly- and very accommodating - and the food is awesome! The crazy nachos started (with the wonton chips!) and they were insane - my wife had the green chile chicken and I had the smoked pork chop . After spending eight hours in the ER with my task-trained service dog, I went to Triple J to pick up a to-go order. I was hungry and exhausted. My dog and I roll up to the bar. A woman sitting near the bar says "Dogs aren't allowed in the bar." I showed her the ADA Frequently Asked Questions list for service dogs. She then said my dog wasn't wearing identification. I referred her to the FAQ again. She responded that she would "get in trouble" with the city health department if they knew a dog was on the premises. A city health department staffer had this to say: "I am unaware of what directive [the owner] is speaking of as we do not have such a thing. Our facilities are required to follow all service animal laws and regulations, with no exceptions." Attempting to dissuade a disabled veteran from accessing your restaurant is beyond the pale. read more

Another visit here did not disappoint! We made a reservation for a Friday night. Good thing we did, it was packed, but we were seated promptly and our servers were there right away, which was great bc we had a 4 year old with us. We quickly ordered a kids pizza and lemonade for her and then the adults began to peruse the extensive menu. So many delicious things to choose from. We opted for a wedge salad (so good), a filet (so reasonably priced), tilapia and a cobb salad with steak on it, meat was tender and well seasoned. First off...the service in this place on a Friday night is as horrible as you can get. We sat in the bar area, and our waiter was more interested in the behind the bar scene than waiting on customers. When we did order, we all asked for the Prime Rib, and some rolls to complement the meal. The food came out so fast we didn't even finish our salads. We had to ask for rolls 3 times before we got them The meat was cool to touch, had the texture of an old rubber tire, had no flavor, and was not cooked as ordered. We waited so long for a place to sit, we just ate it. One of the folks in our group gave away his prime for the dogs. At least they lucked out and got 2-$30 pieces of meat. This will be my last time going in on a weekend evening and ordering prime. Been here 3 times. Couldn't really judge before last night as I had salad before. I will say the house salad was good. Our waiter was not good but later found out it was his last night working there. Meal took a long Time to receive. I had breaded chicken and mashed potatoes. I asked for gravy only on the potatoes but it was smothered in gravy on the entire plate. Not much flavor. Chicken was so overdone it was very stringy and difficult to chew. Only took a couple of bites and told the waiter that I didn't care for it. (Did I tell you it was also too salty?). Triple J Steakhouse is a throwback to a time when dining was an experience not just fuel on a plate. Decor just country enough to know your in Texas but refined enough for any weekend rondesvous. Great service, eclecticly-decorated environment and amazing food. We went on a Saturday night and called two hours prior to be put on waitlist. We were seated right away upon arrival. We came here for lunch today and had an amazing experience. We decided to order salads. My other half had the Tender Lovin' Salad with grilled chicken and he added the grilled shrimp as well. I had the steak tip salad. Both salads were absolutely excellent. His chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly as were the shrimp. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the shrimp, very nice sized and perfectly grilled. My steak tip salad was excellent as well with blue cheese, onion, and there was a very nice amount of steak which was cooked to my liking, which was very rare. The seasoning was excellent however a little peppery for me, but I don't tolerate hot seasonings very well. The honey, mustard dressing was perfection, and the ranch dressing was excellent. We also ordered the sweet potato fries that were absolutely delicious. The flavor was on target, they were not greasy and once again perfectly cooked. Our server, John, was the best! He had a great personality, seemed to truly care about making sure we were satisfied, and was attentive with keeping our drinks filled as well as right there with bread and butter. Triple J is our new favorite go to restaurant and we will be back soon ! I have been here before, however, always at a very busy time in the evenings. TLDR; One of the best prime ribs I've had. Really. Really good. Excellent service with attentive staff who are friendly and willing to help. A manager stopped by the table to ensure all was well and when our steaks were served, the sever stood by while we cut into the meat to check for doneness. Did I mention the Amazing prime rib? This is my second visit here and not impressed. The first time, I ordered the Miss Kitty Kat Ribeye at a temp of Medium Rare and it came back mooing and eyeing my salad for a late night graze. This time I ordered it at what I thought would be a happy medium, it came back dead and lifeless...I thought either my knife was dull or the steak was tougher than a sun-baked raisin dropped haphazardly in the middle of some far away no-name desert. The green beans were fried, bitter and gross. The wedge salad, however, was amazing and delicious. So we did not have a great experience here dépité the good reviews. We waited a bit, that we expected but our waitress was either just inattentive or overheated. She kept forgetting to bring what she was suppose to. The food was VERY disappointing! We had a pizza and the chicken. Chicken was burnt and creamed corn was nasty and fries were overcooked.
