The customer service is horrible. I got my order delivered an hour after placing, it was cold. Called to complain. Kept getting hung up on and was called a bitch. Delivery driver came to get food from me and laughed at me and said there is no management there. Very unprofessional. Will never order there again. read more

I just want to say that I wanted Chinese food and was told by someone that China city was a good place to order from well they lied to me. China city is the worst Chinese food that I have ever eaten the the fried wontons were like eating rubber the inside of the plastic bag was wet and something brown was in the outside bottom corner where the bag is seamed and it was liquid gross the driver was 25 minutes late and didn't even apologize for being late. THEY ARE RUDE, RACIST AND THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS! I paid with a card and when I came to pick it up, they tried to hound me about the card I used to pay. Forgetting it at home, I showed them id and was willing to give them everything they needed to verify that the card was mine. They never said I had to bring the card either. Also, someone else came to pickup and had a card and they did not ask them to verify. The person was white and I am black. I also just got surgery so moving is extremely tough. I asked for only soy sauce and lots of it. My request was ignored. I asked if someone could bring soy sauce (I would tip of course), she told me no and that I needed to come get the soy sauce myself. Got take out from here the other day. Fried wontons were okay. Decent filling. Lo mien was not great. Lacked in flavor. Price wasn't bad, but not great. $11.45 in total. I decided to try this place since the one in Groton is temporarily closed at the moment, but I'm glad they had a website to make it easier to order especially trying their food for the first time. This is my favorite go-to Chinese place in Cortland. China City offers standard Americanized Chinese take-out fare. It iis the best of the rest in this area. The vegetables are always crisp and fresh, and I've found that's rare from the other local Chinese restaurants in the area. My boyfriend loves their curry chicken and I tend to order kung pao shrimp or chicken with cashews. My only complaint is that the rice tends to be regularly undercooked. China City does mostly take-out, but they do have six or eight tables available within the establishment which are great when you want to stop for a quick lunch while running errands. When we call ahead for takeout and the food is usually hot and ready 15 minutes later! Make sure you allow yourself enough wait time if you order during the busy dinner and lunch hours, especially if you have a short lunch break. Call in advance to avoid a wait! read more

They delivered a completely wrong order and different order to my family. After calling and being on the phone for 20 minutes, they finally said they would bring our correct order. The staff is rude. The first time I came here, I was in the middle of ordering at the counter and the phone rang and the woman took the complete phone order before getting back to me rather than asking the person on the phone to hold. I decided to give them a second chance and ordered "for here" but their mess was spread out on 3 out of 4 tables with a waiting customer occupying the fourth. When my food was ready I had to ask them to clear a table for me. They apologized because of "the lunch rush" it was 5 p.m. in cortland... They weren't busy, just lazy. I should of stayed in tonight....I heard Cortland was known for horrible Chinese food, but I didn't believe it. So on my first outing I decided to try China City. This was the worse Chinese food I have ever ate in my entire life. Actually, I couldn't eat it, it was so bad. When I got home to eat I opened it up and it smelled like burning plastic. I tried a couple of bites, the chicken was doughy, not even really warm. I only live 5minutes away so it couldn't have cooled down that quickly. It tasted like smoke from burning plastic. I ended up tossing it out and making dinner. Don't go you have been warned. I'll another Chinese place someday after I get over this gross taste. read more

China city was very good. I was in college in the area for a few years and this was the only place resembling Chinese food. You can usually tell by the quality of the rice if a Chinese place will be good. This is the best I found in the area. read more

Terrible service. Took over an hour and a half to get my food delivered when i live 10 minutes down the street. It says on the menu that orders over $10.00 are free delivery but i was still charged for delievery after ordering $11.00 worth of food before tax was added. Portions are tiny! The fried rice is orange so there's that. Every Chinese spot sucks in Cortland but this is the least horrible option.
