Having read some good reviews of this restaurant, we did not experience anything at all that we could review as good. The food was expensive and without character. Yea, maybe not my best choice of words when extolling and encouraging others to dine at a restaurant, got it! We have eaten China Express's very good takeout food over five different times and we have all enjoyed it each and every time. This is a Family restaurant which is welcoming and friendly. Their decor is done in Modern American Takeout. So you know, you've been there, done that. But who cares, you are picking up and taking out. All the dishes we have eaten are delicious, and what I enjoy the most is I can taste all the different savory flavors in their food instead as with some Asian Restaurants only being able to taste salt. The takeout was busy and clean. 1/4 of the take out was inedible. The Fried chicken had no meat The rolls were not crispy and inedible Much of it we could not tell what Chinese dish it was Greasy The vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked The boneless spare ribs were fatty and inedible The order was correct. If you are from Boston or NYC, it will not be Chinese food, nor Asian. Its Southern Home Cooking using fish and soy sauce. The take Out Boxes look the same but what goes in is not. Very nice service, so come here if you like good Southern Take Out w chop sticks. They should send the chef up north to get a clue. read more

Tried China Express for the first time tonight. We previously heard some excellent comments on our community's Facebook page. After a number of disappointing experiences with other Chinese restaurants in the area, this one restored our faith. The restaurant is very clean, the portion sizes are quite large and the food was delicious! Very reasonably priced, too. There were no mistakes in the order and the staff was very nice. Will surely return in the near future for another great takeout meal! read more

This place the THE best Chinese food South of the Broad River Bridge, HANDS DOWN! Friendly, courteous staff makes it an even better place. They are usually VERY busy both Friday and Saturday nights for takeout, so order early. Only downside? Parking. Ugh! The restaurant has a few designated spots, but if it's dinnertime or even lunchtime during the week, expect to fight or wait for a parking spot. read more

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Another crap restaurant with bland, flavorless food. The person who rated this as 5 stars must have never had Chinese food from anywhere else ever. If anyone wants good food, the best I've had had been Hong Kong on Buckwalter in Bluffton. The portions there are far bigger than China express and just better overall. In a small strip shopping center among various workshops, and all the clientel looked like workmen. A few table and bench combinations, all dishes styrofoam, all utensils are plastic--no ambiance. A lot of volume for the money in their buffet--three choices to $5.50. My wings were OK, but my pork fried rice, sesame chicken, and egg roll ($7.00 for this combo) were just not very good.
