Perhaps the best Chinese take out around this region of Oklahoma. Their roast pork egg rolls, lo mein and sweet and sour chicken = top notch delicious and so good! I absolutely love this place when I get my Chinese food cravings and worth the half hour drive to come here. Their prices ( especially the combination dinner ) are excellent especially in this expensive world we live in. Not going to knock on this place as much since it's my first time eating here, but I'll review and update as I continue to try the place out while I live around the area (if I do try it again). It's a small hole in the wall Chinese restaurant with the typical menus of all the favorites that any Chinese-American loving eater would. So, if you're looking for some authentic Chinese food this isn't the place. Through the doors you walk into a small two garage fitted establishment, four tables that's are old and beat up as if you found them on the side of the street with chairs that look like they were put together. Walls were painted an ugly old yellow teeth color, a unisex single restroom that's maintained but definitely ughh. Poor Chinese decorations, so if you're here to look for a scenery it's not a looker. So at first glance you're already disappointed but Elgin people give this place a better recommendation than anywhere else near. But then again, it's a small town with no malls or even a Walmart-mart??? So, onto the food. It's nothing special. All the hype of everyone stating this is the place to go well it's an ok place for some fast and cooked Chinese take out. I paid a full ticket close to $80 of food I could've gotten for a lunch or dinner price for two at Fusion Buffet and eat all I can eat. The hype was just hype. But again, I'll try other meals off your menu just to see if anything here is special. But I wouldn't go outta my way to get in line to grub. Owners were awesome and very respectful. There was no hassle with a Chinese Dragon-Lady behind the counter who your having a language barrier to tackle and fight just to order the right amount and type of food! I came back to try the peppered beef hence I am leaving back to California soon . I asked for meat " well browned "... and girl working cashier said "oh well done" and I responded "yes, I want meat well done , well browned/well grilled " yet I got steamed looking meat. When I ordered chow mein I was asked " noodles or cabbage" and l responded "noodles" not knowing what she meant... I should have asked more questions or better off how about this restaurant puts up a menu picture of CHOW MEIN vs LO MEIN ... instead of asking " cabbage or noodles" ... anyhow I and was given lo mein after responding " noodles" ... maybe my idea of chow mein is different idk and I would like to find out. Out here were I live I order chop suey at Chinese mandarin type of restaurants and chow mein at panda express lol so I that is my refrence of " CHOW MEIN" ... I will send my sister who lives out there im Elgin to order chow mein just to cure my uncertainty and will post picture here :)... I love food and enjoy posting what it looks like to make your eating decisions /selections somewhat easier :)... overall I do recommend you try out this place along with the locally owned pizza place in this town ! This small town has very few options available to eat out and hopefully this restaurant thrives to make changes to current way of cooking when requested. In my case all it needed was to leave meat grilling a little longer, it's exactly what i did at home I did not need to add oil or anything, I simply left it warming over high flame . I am sure peeps from nearby places would drive down to support this locally owned Chinese restaurant if they know its good, pictures speak for em self ... tell me which one looks tastier ? The well grilled or the steam looking meat? I know some will say not to judge its book by its cover, well this is not a book :) ... food presentation means a lot to me - it definitely guides my dinning decision hence its also backed up by a detailed written review . We ordered beef lo mein, sweet and sour chicken, beef with peppers, crab Rangoon and egg rolls. The lo mein noodles were extremely overcooked making them mushy. The sweet and sour chicken was overcooked (seemed like they had been under a heat lamp too long). The beef with peppers was good, however, my husband was unhappy as there was only 4 small pieces of beef in the entire dish. The crab Rangoon were very sweet and the egg rolls were underwhelming. Literally not one of their meals is spicy, regardless of what the menu says. Even when I ask for extra spice. I have no idea why everyone is so loyal to this place, but they are not good. I was raised in Northern California and Honolulu Hawaii, and I have to say this little Chinese eatery in rural Oklahoma can hold its own. They have some great little dishes and have always been on there A game whenever I have gone. The food is great, and they are extremely friendly and accommodating. They are perfect for takeout, order 20-30 minutes ahead for a large order and your food will be ready when you get there. When you go to this restaurant expect a welcome and a smile, great food and good service. Because it is in a small town in Oklahoma I gave it an extra star! read more

Way over priced and soggy Chinese food, My family got the Mongolian beef and was told rice came with it, no rice was found nor were any strips of beef, it was all onions and vegetables which I'm not opposed to but when you order A BEEF ENTRE it should include more beef then 3-4 pieces, I will not be coming back and I'm very disappointed, the service was okay but don't lie about what comes with entrees if they don't come with it, I would've happily paid the extra 3-4$ for it if I was told so, horrible horrible horrible. Great standard Chinese fast food restaurant. They are very quick with preparing food and it has been consistently good. I really like the Kung Po Delight and Sesame Chicken. The fried dumplings are also very good. Nice to have this place in Elgin. We eat here at least once a month and have no complaints with food or service. We usually eat here a couple times a month it's quick and easy. Prices are reasonable and the people that own it are nice and work in the restaurant daily. Nothing about it blows me away and makes me rate it a Five but it's a solid four. The menu is so large and extensive you can get about anything as far as Chinese food. A solid option for basic Chinese. Husband and I go for Chinese every Christmas Eve and being new to the area, we weren't sure where to go. China Garden was a solid choice. We started with the fried dumplings. They looked tasty, though I would have preferred them to be cooked a bit more well done, I like to see a little searing on the outside. Husband liked them, but I wasn't a fan. The pork inside wasn't very tasty, and the sauce they served with them seemed to be straight soy sauce. Texture was good and you get a lot of dumplings for the price. For dinner, we had our ultimate comfort food favorite: veggie lo mein. The noodles were good quality, however, we wished they were a little more well done. They loaded it up with plenty of fresh and crunchy veggies: broccoli, pea pods, fresh mushrooms, white onions, cabbage, and scallions. It was not overly salty and seasoned nicely and not greasy. We'll definitely get that again. We also ordered the broccoli in garlic sauce. It was good, but unusual. The heat was nice. It had an interesting sweet licorice or anise flavor to it. I couldn't place it. It wasn't like any other I've ever had. Sadly, they don't carry any hot tea, just canned sodas. Dining room is clean and nicely maintained. It was cold outside so every time the door opened, there was a significant draft. I'll bring a coat next time. They do a busy carry out business (hence the door opening and closing constantly) as well as dine in, though the dining room is small, maybe 8 tables or so. Food in the dining room is served on styrofoam plates, so nothing fancy, but it's comfortable. We ate until we were more than full and still had huge plates leftover for lunch and dinner tomorrow! The staff was so friendly and it seemed that they do a great business with lots of loyal regular customers. Nice stop if you're in Elgin and craving Chinese. read more

I really was skeptical of getting fast food Chinese. And they are fast!!! Call in an order and by the time you drive to them, it's ready. I feel they are pretty authentic Chinese food. Our go to is the orange chicken and broccoli and beef. I usually like steamed dumplings, but they make their own and the wonton wrapper is just too thick for me. I don't think they have great fried rice and prefer noodles instead. And if the menu notated spicy, it's super spicy!!! I would normally rate an establishment like this as 4 stars but seeing that our small town of Elgin had limited eateries, it's a 5. If I lived in Lawton, would I drive up to Elgin to eat here, no. But it's good enough when we are craving Chinese that's not overly greasy. Plus, they really go the extra mile and give you the nice to go containers. Its ok for being a "fast food" chinese place. There is nothing else around within 20 miles for this type of food so I will continue to eat here. If your ok with food court (mall, airport) type chinese food then you will like it. If your expecting PF Changs then drive another hour and spend another $20. Other than that the food was quick to come out and absolutely delicious! The wonton soup was extremely flavorful, I loved the sesame chicken and my kids loved the sweet and sour chicken. Gourmet Chinese food, it is not. But it deserves 5 stars, because, it's better than what used to be in Elgin, and that's NOTHING. I've lived all over the United States...I'd honestly put China Garden's "Beef with Broccoli" up against anyone's, it's that good. I also like their Crab Rangoon, which are simply folded, not your typical "Star" closure, and they are decently filled with cream cheese, and you can actually taste the seafood(likely mock crab) inside. I've had better "General Tso's" in other places, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better Steak with Garlic Sauce. Their beef dishes definitely outshine their chicken selections, but "Chicken with Broccoli" is worth ordering. Oh, and they do Mu Shu Chicken and Pork quite well!!! Their Egg Foo Young is a little greasy, but still pretty good. Get the Roast Pork Chow Mai Fun, it's sweet and salty in all the right places, and loaded with scrambled egg and julienned pork. There are far better places in Oklahoma City, 60 miles from Elgin. But if you live in Elgin, or the surrounding area, China Garden is as good as it gets. I have definitely had my fair share of authentic Chinese food and China Garden is the closest you will get by far! The food is nice and fresh, seasoned perfectly, and not too pricey. Blows any other Chinese restaurant I've tried in Oklahoma. Our go to is the Lo Mein and the Roast Pork and Broccoli. The Lo Mein is seasoned nicely, not overly salty or greasy with wonderfully crisp and fresh veggies. The Roast Pork is extremely tender and tasty and I love the fact that they use Char Siu instead if normal pork. China Garden isn't only "good for a small town", it's the best period!
