I was in the area having service done on my car and decided to browse some restaurants nearby. China Garden had good reviews and the pictures of the fried rice looked like the type of fried rice I grew up on. I've been on a journey to find great fried rice for years and have often been let down, but China Garden got it right. I arrived around 2 and the restaurant was pretty empty. I placed an order for shrimp fried rice and it came with an egg roll. My order came out quickly. I knew from the smell of the rice that I would be in for a treat. The rice was so flavorful and reminiscent of the great Chinese food I had growing up. It contained a good amount of plump shrimp, eggs, bean sprouts and a few other vegetables. I ordered a carry out. The food was ready and waiting when I got to the restaurant a few minutes early. I was craving hot and sour soup. The soup was a bit sweet and not terribly hot and sour. I also ordered pan fried dumplings. They were adequate, but the sauce had a sweetness to it. The Thai basil fried rice with chicken did not have much flavor. Luckily, I had some fish sauce, lime and hot peppers at home to add to make the dish tasty. The Mongolian beef was as expected. I always stop here for the Seafood Rice. It's so good! Now, it does cost about $20, but I think it's worth it. It has Fish, Scallops, and Jumbo Shrimp. I ordered it ToGo and the container is always filled to the top. The picture does this dish no justice. The restaurant sits in a shopping center and there is usually plenty of parking. We've eaten here or ordered takeout here a number of times over the past couple of years but last night was our last time spending our money here. We ordered Shrimp Mei Fun, Mongolian Beef, a small Wonton soup and an order of steamed dumplings. We paid $55. The only thing that was edible was the Mongolian Beef. It was tasty. But not $55 tasty. The mei fun was terrible. It was cooked/drenched in a dark sauce that added nothing to the flavor. It looked unappetizing and it didn't taste good - it was truly unenjoyable. The wonton soup was boring. Yellow chicken broth and two big wontons that were all dough and no filling. The fried noodles they provided on the side to add to the soup were stale, not crispy like they should be. Finally the steamed dumplings were super uninspired much like the wontons in the wonton soup. Big and floppy and doughy with not much filling. So many other Asian restaurants all over Roswell and Marietta for customers to choose from. This one has been around a long time but they have lost their motivation or their cook and must do better. The last time I ate here in person the woman's bathroom had so much old dust hanging on all the features - it made me seriously wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen and what we can't see...I just can't look past the issues we've had here so need to move on and try a new place or two. read more

We have yet to order something we did not like. The food is fresh and flavorful. I really love the lo mein and the crab rangoons, but seriously everything is so tasty! China Garden does not skimp on the added proteins in the rice and noodle dishes which is a huge plus in my book. The food has been consistently hot and packaged thoughtfully. The protein dishes also come with a side of steamed rice. It is a small container but there is so much rice in there! We usually try to fry it ourselves the next day, but it does not hold a candle to China Garden's fried rice! This was our first time trying China Garden. I have driven by it for years and do not know why we didn't come in. Placed an order to go and went in to pick it up. The gentleman behind the counter was gracious and courteous. He said his family had been here for (45) years. Must mean something. Price was good also.
