    Pork Egg Roll (mostly cabbage)
    Craig G.

A big spacious dining room with tables and booths. We arrived on a sunny and warm Friday evening about 5:30PM. We could see several waitresses gathered in expectation for the dinner rush. And based on the phone calls during out visit, they receive a lot of to-go orders. For an appetizer we had the Pork Egg Rolls and the Hong Kong Style Wonton Soup. The egg rolls were mostly cabbage and it was very difficult to find (let alone taste) any pork bits. However, they were a good size and nicely cooked. The soup had lots of baby bok choy and the pork dumplings in it were very delicious. For our entrees we had the Orange Beef and Mongolian Beef, both served with a generous container of steamed rice. The Mongolian Beef was nicely flavored. However, the Orange Beef was more sour than citrus flavored and the texture was a bit gristly. They do not have fountain drinks, and soft drinks are served in cans. Service was decent and the food was delivered in a good time frame and while still fresh and hot.

We came here cause we had a craving for some Chinese food! We had a bunch of dishes and all of them were huge and tasty! My favorite was the Peking Pork Chops, it had lots of meat and not too many bones, had a sweet and tangy taste! Definitely this is my go to place when I come back to Atlanta! The service was great too!

So so good and portions were massive! Atmosphere: Plenty of parking. No frills/old school chinese restaurant complete with live lobster tanks. Lots of room for family dining. Service: Quick and thorough, walked in to place a togo order and it was done in about 15 minutes. Food: Reminded me of the Chinese food back in California and they have some menu items that arent usually offered. I got an order of garlic pork chops, shrimp egg foo young and house fried rice. Plenty to eat on by myself for a few days and everything was delicious. I'll definitely be back!

Fantastic. Much larger space than I thought and plenty of seating. Very clean and quiet. The food was delicious and the servings are HUGE. I SWEAR I'll get three meals out of the Orange Chicken. It is not spicy at all, but has a clear orange flavor. The Egg foo yung was a huge double portion. Come hungry or realize you will have left overs. The service was quick and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would only recommend they give more rice with the dishes. However, for leftovers you may want to make fresh rice at home. The chairs are sturdy and lots of booths or tables. The chairs matter when having a wonderful lunch with Mom. She's 84 and balance matters- she's very independent and doesn't want help in and out of chairs. Just an unsolicited bonus!!

We had seen several reviews on Yelp for Canton Cook so we decided to try them for lunch. The restaurant is a little tricky to pull into if you are driving east on Canton Road but it is well worth the effort. Upon arrival we were seated at a booth and given menus. A server quickly came to our table to get our drinks orders. We both ordered off of the lunch menu. You get your choice of soup and a Spring roll along with your entree and rice (fried or steamed) The soup was delicious and we both enjoyed our entrees. The portions are huge and we both took home a large portion of our entrees. The restaurant is bright and cheery and very clean. We really enjoyed our first trip to Canton Cook and will definitely return to try other entrees.

Great place for lunch. Prices are very reasonable. $11.75 for most lunch dishes. Servings are plentiful and service is excellent . Dinner is equally good but pricey. I love the Mongolian beef. Try them, you won't be disappointed.

This is another review for somewhere that isn't exactly the prettiest place on the inside, but their food is great. We went for a late lunch on Saturday, because my wife had a craving for Chinese food. I ordered the roasted duck with ginger & green onions, which was probably my favorite of the three entrees. It had a very complex sauce, and I couldn't quite identify the aromatic spice that elevated it (possibly allspice or cardamom), but whatever it was, it definitely paired really well with the slight sweetness from the ginger & onions. You also want to be aware that the duck is *not* boneless, so be sure to inspect each bite; unexpectadly chomping down into a bone will make most people lose their appetite. Their egg rolls are big & very full of shredded cabbage but not a lot of pork sausage. I loved them with the chili garlic sauce that they make in house, just be sure to use it judiciously, as it is on the hot end of the spectrum. My wife loved her hot & sour soup, and she's definitely a connoisseur of it. It's thick & rich, pairs really nicely with the wonton crackers. The beef with black bean sauce highlights the sweet aromatic essence of bell pepper, and the salty/savory flavor of the black beans balance out the sauce. The beef with black mushrooms was probably my 2nd favorite, having a savory & slightly sweet profile, and lots of vegetable accompaniments (bamboo shoots, carrots, onions, snow peas). The decor is a bit dated, but it's pretty clean. Neither one of us used the restrooms, so I can't comment about those. We're definitely going back, but I doubt we'll order anything with crab or lobster. The live tank's contents didn't look very lively, if you catch my drift. I also found it slightly odd that so much of their staff ate openly in the dining room. I guess I'm just used to employees having their meals in a more discreet location. Not a deal breaker, just unusual. Our servers were relatively attentive, but considering that we were only one of maybe six other tables, it took a little while to get our orders. All in all, you can find some Buford Highway level food here without having to drive all the way there, and it's definitely one of the best Asian restaurants I've had in the Marietta/Woodstock/Kennesaw area. I'm definitely curious about other menu options, but a guy can only eat so much in one sitting.

Does not even look like edible gyoza!

Have ordered from them many times and the food was always OK. This latest time we ordered $90 worth of food and the fried gyoza that they sent was absolutely awful. My son took one bite and spit it out. I called them and they said the only thing they could do is if we get in the car, drive it back and they redo it for us. I told them there's no way I'm getting in my car and driving back to the restaurant to return subpar food that I paid for and they said there's nothing else we can do and they hung up on me.

No need to gatekeep this restaurant as it is in my top 3 list of THE best Chinese in all of Atlanta. I've visited several times and plan to continue to do so. The service is always prompt and I have never had any issues. They have plenty of seating and ambiance is one that is of a typical longstanding traditional Chinese restaurant. Although it isn't ITP, it is certainly worth the drive if you are looking for true authentic Chinese food.

This is Cantonese food. It's closer than Buford highway restaurants, so does the job. Would I go again, been 4 times now.

I had the shrimp po-boy sandwich as that was my specific craving and why I made the detour to this establishment, and it did not disappoint. There was a concrete table outside ate the front, but there was no umbrella to ward off the hot summer sun. The three-course meal included soup or salad, an entrée, and dessert, which was a great value. The salad was surprisingly large, I had the trout and it was delicious, and the Watermelon Crush was also great. Our waitress was awesome and made the evening enjoyable. My only concern was staffing. We had a 5:30 reservation and noticed many empty tables even though guests were waiting. By the time we left around 7:00, the line extended into the parking lot while tables inside were still empty. It appeared there simply wasn't enough wait or kitchen staff to handle the Restaurant Week demand. I also didn't see much value in the approximately $15 premium entrée upgrade compared with regular menu prices. Overall, the food and service at our table were excellent. I visit Pappadeaux whenever I'm in Atlanta and will continue to do so. For major promotions like Restaurant Week, I simply recommend increasing staffing to accommodate the expected crowds.

The spinach dip appetizer is shrinking in size, yet it seems like the price has increased. Then they charge extra for garlic bread versus the crust that comes with it, which is like, okay, cool, but with the small dish of spinach and crab dip, it makes it almost not worth the change and extra cost. On my last few visits, I've ordered the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain, so after reviewing the menu, I decided to go that route again. The server informed me that they were out of that fish and offered me the option of choosing another fish. We discussed the trout and the snapper. As long as it was filet, I did not have a preference. The server recommended snapper. I agreed. The entire meal was really delicious from the sauce to the fish and shrimp. I was charged à la carte for everything on the plate down to the sauce for that meal, which was confusing because I thought they were giving me the option to order the same meal and swap the fish. Instead, they charged me as if it was my request to rearrange the meal and charged me for the fish swap, the sauce, etc. The server did make some adjustments so it aligned to the pricing of the meal somewhat. The brownie dessert is always delectable. The meal took a little minute to come out, but once it did, everything was good. I did like that they brought the kids meals to the table as soon as they were ready, which was extremely awesome and insightful.

The raw bar is front and center, and there are several great options for oysters. There is a social hour option for chef's choice oysters, I believe it was a dozen for $24. I would've loved to indulge, but my friends were not so inclined towards raw oysters. We enjoyed the peel-and-eat shrimp and the blue crab fritters as appetizers. Both had phenomenal flavor, but the portions left a bit to be desired. For my main course, I tried the low country boil as I always love to see an elevated take on a messy classic. The spices were a bit underwhelming for my liking, but everything was cooked very well. I tried some of my friend's redfish, and it was clearly the star of the show. There was a wonderful textural balance between the soft pillowiness of the fish and the crispy exterior. The downside for me was the service. We had a difficult time tracking down our server, and when we alerted another member of the staff that we needed something, there was no attempt to resolve the issue expeditiously. We had to wait another 10 minutes before flagging down our original server. We were dining close to the lunch/dinner shift, so I'm willing to give them the grace that it was a fluke and not a habit. I would love to give Roberto's another try someday, the menu has a great variety, and the ambiance is hard to compete with.
