Stopped at China King on the way home from a track meet at SBU in Boliver. There was a large selection of dinner specials at only $7.99 for your entree + rice (fried or white) and an egg roll or 2 crab rangoons or egg drop soup (served with little fried crunchies). I was a little underwhelmed at the flavor in the bourbon chicken - the chicken was tender but the sauce was just okay. The rice was cooked perfectly though! Waiter was nice and attentive. Well, my wife and I decided to try this place since our favorite Chinese food is about an hour away. This I believe is how General Chicken is supposed to taste, however I'm not much of a fan of this version of General. Almost all restaurants taste like this. I'll give it a good score for authenticity. Now...the black pepper chicken is what my wife decided to get. Honestly...I wish I had gotten that! It was AMAZEBALLS!!! I've been here many times and the food is usually pretty good but here in the last year it's been getting worse and worse to the point that now it seems that Not only are children working here which are constantly being yelled at by the very few adults around and let's not forget the bad attitude I receive every time I call. For example this evening I ordered my usual order of Bourbon Chicken and 2 egg rolls but when I home after working all day the chicken had NO sauce on it and both the chicken and noodles tasted old and reheated and the noodles actually molded to the plastic serving tray they give you and the egg rolls were so burned they crumbled in my hands. I called and complained about the waste of money I was dealing with and they of course apologized and I had to drive all the way back and they of course gave attitude and handed me a new meal and I left not wanting to argue and when I got home the ends of my egg rolls were black and my chicken wasn't even the chicken I ordered and the bag was filled with sauce. I feel like this was a deliberate insult and I will definitely not be going there again and I HIGHLY suggest you don't waste money here unless you enjoy reheated Chinese leftovers read more

I have been back several times in the last 3 years. I must say that the situation seems to have changed. I can communicate quite well with the hard working family running the place. The food is always hot, plentiful, and tastes good. The problem I've seen from many lesser quality resturants of this type is that they fail to use clean oil in their cookers. Not this place. I find no flavor of burned or scorched oils. They seem to be very popular and I'm now a big fan. I hope they stay around and serve good clean food for a long time. read more

It's a well known fact most 'Chinese' places add MSG, an excitotoxin (it makes your cells implode,) to their food to make it taste better, which is why you're not supposed to eat 'Chinese' food if you're pregnant. It's generally one-three drops per restaurant sized batch because of its potency, that way you don't experience the vomiting, headaches, and dizziness from an overdose. Here at China King, they add enough MSG to basically abort your fetus. No, really, you want the migraine to end all migraines? Projectile vomiting that rivals the force of a grenade launcher? I've eaten here over the years and the food is always good. The service is consistent and the menu has tons of options. If you like Chinese food this place is the one to go to in Bolivar. The lunch specials are cheap. I would give it five but I'm not a fan of the over bearing Christian music that they play. I will say give it a chance. She finally comes over to say they are closed (despite open sign and supposedly being open to ten). If China King doesn't want our business, that's fine. We won't be back. However this place would get no stars if it was not for their fantastic food. The staff is very rude. There are three ladies that I have seen working here. I have been to this particular restaurant tree times and every time I have been waited on my the same lady. She is very overbearing and intrusive. For example she came and asked us what we wanted before we even sat down and then paced back and forth beside our booth while we were looking at the menu. After about a minute and a half she came back and interrupted our talking about the menu to say 'ready to order?' really loud. She kept coming by and looking at us and looking over the back of the booth. She even came and looked over my shoulder as I wrote this yelp review. She is also very hard to understand. She talks very fast and when asked to repeat says it even faster and upsetedly. The lady that is at the front is nice and helpful so nothing against her. We eat here all the time. Today. we came here after church. My wife ordered cashew chicken and when it showed up the sauce tasted like pure soy sauce. We told them it tasted different than it normally does but we were going to keep it and we were not looking for a free meal or anything. The hostess proceeded to come over and ask us "what's wrong with you", she argued that the sauce was just fine, she turned to other customers and ask them if we were being ridiculous, and then proceeded to take my wife's plate from her while she was trying to eat it! We did not ask for a free meal or for more food we were just letting them know it tasted different than normal. This was the absolute most pathetic experience I've ever had. I have never in my life had a restaurant try to humiliate me for letting them know something was a little different.
