The food was delivered hot from a nice delivery driver who called when he was out front which is nice since I'm disabled. The food was really good with a generous amount. read more

Typical mom&pop chinese carry out/ dine in place. I ordered food from here as it was getting late in night and I felt like having a veggie king pao. The lady who runs this place does not speak or understand much English. Her son does the talking but when he is not around, it may make u go round. I placed the order on the phone for Kung pao which is not listed explicitly on their menu. So when I got there, she told me that she did not add any peanuts to my food as that will be $1 extra. Geez, the buy did not communicate that to me on the phone. Anyhow, the food was hot and tasted alright. This place is good for when u r starving and no other option. read more

China King is one of the best Asian restaurants I have ever been to: it is a real gem, hidden away in East St. Louis, and its traditional cooking and quality is more likely comparable to great Asian meccas such as one finds on the West Coast, in Seattle or Los Angeles. My boyfriend and I placed a delivery order at 18:12 for two combos. One General Aso and the other extra spicy Orange Chicken. Which was supposed to arrive by 19:12 yet it wasn't here till 19:30. My coworkers and I love your food! I would've never noticed this place if it wasn't for a coworker who suggested it. Great food, they make every order instantly. Prices are decent considering how expensive other Chinese food places can be these days. I didn't give them five stars because delivery takes about an hour, and their dining area could use some improvements, but it doesn't seem like many people eat in since every time I've been in it's all carry out orders. read more

The food is really good and the portions are generous. The menu, although a little sparse on some items, has plenty to choose from. The interior of the establishment is typical of these types of places, but it makes no matter since we always do takeout. Ordered food for delivery. 45 minutes later, they call and ask if I'm in Springfield then say driver got lost because he doesn't know where Veterans Parkway is. 30 minutes later, I called to ask if my food was coming and they said yes. 30 minutes later, I called to ask where my food was.... they replied with driver said it's too far so it's not coming. I'm ambivalent about the whole Yelp phenomena - on one hand I'm all for the freedom of the press, and any well deserved verbal kicks in the nuts one can deliver to large corporate chains. On the other hand, I've been ordering food from the tiny [and to my knowledge sole proprietorship] China King on North Grand for years now, and can't say I've ever had a complaint. It's good Chinese food, always delivered hot, fast, and the staff is courteous and friendly. No frills, but the consistency is remarkable. Pay no heed to any haters here. There is a reason why those China King white to-go menus are so iconic here in "Spring-patch" and it's because the friggin' things rest on the top of the refrigerators of 1/4 of the town's populace! All hail the China King, and ignore any jesters on here who say otherwise....word to your mother! read more

Be far my favorite Chinese place when it come to the taste of the food, but the service absolutely sucks. Sometimes they deliver, and other times they tell me I live too far, it doesn't make sense. And the guy or girl (can't really tell what it is) is so rude I have to hang up sometimes before I completely lose it. My coworkers and I decided to order delivery from here on 11/25 and we had a fairly large order, around $50. Each meal came with an order of white rice and we were short one large rice. I called the restaurant to let them know and hoped we could get a discount or something. (I paid $10 for my meal). The woman who answered interrupted me several times to talk to someone else by her or answer another phone. When I told her I was missing a large rice she said "no you aren't". To which I told her that each meal we ordered came with rice and we were missing one. She replied again "I know I put it in the bag, one of your workers must have took it" and hung up the phone. do not try to use a credit card, you could have a million dollars on there and they will say it is denied , so if you don't have cash on you don't think about ordering from here, food is good depending on what you order, delivery is pretty good but like the first line say don't even try a credit card! read more
