Discovered this restaurant near our hotel in St. Thomas (the improbably named Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort) and ordered out, twice. You have to know what to order. Firstly, the restaurant, though from name is Chinese, has Chinese, Thai and Japanese items on the menu. We tried Chinese and Thai, but couldn't venture towards Japanese (even though, everyone knows that all Sushi restaurants in our home town, San Francisco, are run by Hong Kong Chinese, not Japanese chefs, so what's the big deal, ok some chef ethnic profiling is happening here, and if you're ok with that, just do Chinese, skip the Thai). So, here's the lowdown on what we ate (like you really cared, but I'm just giving you a sense of what works): - Chow Mein (Lo Mein, on their menu) is good. My wife said it was delicious and the best chow mein she had eaten in a very long time. I wasn't feeling so generous: it was just good. - Szechuan Chicken - good as well. - Thai Red Curry Chicken - Here's when you know that the chef hails not from Koh Sa Mui, but Taipei. Actually, it's not bad as a chicken dish, especially on white rice, but it's just nothing like a Thai Red Curry. - Soups - Needs a lot of improvement. We had the staple measure, Hot & Sour, and the Wonton - both need work, they had a tad bit too much corn flour. The ambience of the restaurant looked very nice, though we didn't eat in. There were quite a few people eating there on both evenings, and they looked pretty happy. Oh, and I forgot to mention, for St. Thomas, this is cheap - less than $30 for 2 adults and 2 6-7 year olds, if you order 2 dishes, which is just enough (our kids are not big eaters, as you can tell). The staff are really friendly, and hit it off with my wife, who spoke only some Cantonese, just enough to save her life, despite her (gasp!) 11 years living in Hong Kong. We asked for some extra plates, napkins, several kinds of sauces including Sriracha, 4 spoons instead of forks, etc., an extra fortune cookie, and they just did it all with a smile. Go check out the place - these are nice people and it's a good Chinese restaurant. And, it won't cost you the equivalent of your first mortgage, which is what you expect in St. Thomas if you've been eating at your overpriced resort cafe. read more

Decent mediocre Chinese food- a bit of a change for the cuisine here. Was a little upset with having to be auto charged for water bottles that we didn't order and they automatically charged us a $6 tip without our consent. Who doesn't love to stop and get some Chinese food once in a while! So we made some new friends while on vacation and we went out to dinner together! This place has 2 menus... One with Chinese (for the boys) and one with Sushi (for us girls)! They have great variety! My boy ordered the Hong Kong Duck. He loves duck and it was no different with this meal! He said the duck had a great flavor and he didn't leave one piece behind! Our new friend's boy had the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. I think he was a bit thrown off by all of the sauce when it came out, but ultimately he really like the shrimp. He even ended up putting some of the lobster sauce on his fried rice, so it must have been good! I ordered the Seaweed Salad to start, then the Birthday Roll and should have stopped there! I don't think have ever seen a roll so big! It had eel, tempura shrimp, tuna roe, and avocado... Then both us girls got the Smoked Salmon Roll. I ended up taking that one back to the room and ate just the salmon for lunch the next day! I can't remember what our other new friend ordered, but her main roll was just as big as mine! It was ridiculous! The service was great! Our waiter, Frank, was new and let us know. We weren't too hard on him! The Sushi San came out and talked to us as well. They were really great! Honestly some of the best Chinese food I have ever had and I have Chinese food from a lot of places. Seriously, if you make it to St Thomas- this is the BEST Chinese food I have had since it lived in San Francisco! I had true " Chow Fun noodles with beef and shrimp. The beef was super tender and not over cooked. The shrimp was local and fresh ( and a very large size) I also had two orders of the White Tuna sushimi. (Aka Escolar). Each of the 2 orders had 6 huge thick pieces for $12- better deal than Pensacola! The Chow Fun was made with the real "wide" type rice noodle - not rice itself like some would make you think is Chow Fun is made with. This is truly the best place to eat in St Thomas. It was priced much better than other restaurants that were 3 x the price and food was not even close. Even if your are wanting local seafood- you can get it here for much less than other restaurants on the island. Eat at this place once and you will be back. We were told to come here for sushi....and we don't regret it. I had Buddha Sushi 5 years ago out here and I remember liking it but not much else, which means it wasn't a place I felt the need to revisit like some of the other spots on the island. We also had Enkai which was recommended and outside of the view and ambiance we weren't as impressed as we were with China King. Our sushi chef was friendly and talkative, which I love in a sushi chef! The fish was fresh and tasty and the rolls, while a little on the large side for one bite, we're full of flavor. I'd definitely put this place on your list if you're craving sushi out here. It won't have a glamorous atmosphere or view like some other places but you will be happy with the sushi and the company. read more

St. Thomas is a beautiful place and we weren't expecting to find a Chinese restaurant there. We found "China King", Hallelujah!!! The restaurant is literally across the street from the cruise port. We were walking along the shoreline and couldnt resist rushing into the door to taste some Chinese food in St. Thomas. We couldn't wait to start ordering, I ordered the Salmon sashimi, Tuna sashimi, Blue Crab Volcano Roll, Orange Dragon Roll, and Dynamite Roll from the Sushi menu. I can't agree more that is the best meal I have had in St. Thomas. I love the creativity and presentation of their rolls. Most importantly, the texture intensity and the tastes of the rolls were excellent. I felt like I was eating Japanese food in Japan. If I have more friends with me next time, I would try the "Titanic" sushi boat. I can't wait to order that next time around. The rest of my family members favor Chinese food, they ordered the Seafood Pan Fried Noodle, Beef pan fried Noodle, Special Cantonese Chow Fun, and Shrimp Chow Fun. All of their Chinese food had exceeded expectation and it was amazing that the Seafood Pan Fried Noodle was not oily at all. The shrimp and scallop were huge and the portions were very generous. These dishes tasted very authentic. My mom was very satisfied with the Chinese food. When mom is happy, everyone is happy. Overall, the price of this restaurant is reasonable and I would highly recommended it if you happen to be in St. Thomas for vacation or for good. Who knew I had to sail half way across the world to get the best Mongolian beef I've ever tasted. It was 95 in the shade, Carnival had just arrived in the port. We walked for what seemed miles through the shops and saw some little sushi house. My husband [hated] the idea of raw fish, so we asked the hostess inside the sushi house, where can we get Asian fare? She pointed up the street and said "go to the chinese place right next door to hooters at the top of the hill". They had everything you could want, including sushi. But when my eye caught the lunch special, I had to get it. It was the best beef, sauce and flavor in any Mongolian beef dish i've ever had. My husband ordered the fried rice special [shrimp and chicken and pork] and his was the best he'd ever had as well. Those 2 dishes are our weekly staples back home in the states. They have free wifi as well for wayward travelers. Hats off to the mom and pop lunch place! read more

Decent Chinese Food. Nothing special, but won't get you sick. Food is hot, service is friendly, and prices are reasonable for the island. I'll put it out there that I don't really experiment with Chinese food. I'm a big fan of crab rangoons and these aren't my favorite. They were mostly cream cheese... actually, I'm not convinced there was any crab in them haha. Otherwise, I've tried different fried rice dishes with chicken and shrimp. They come in 'American' sized portions, which can be shared with another or can be split into two meals. read more

My family and I traveled to St. Thomas. It was an adventurous trip that we took because we never travel anywhere else but Hong Kong. We are on vacation so we went all out in ordering anything that we wanted on the menu. This restaurant is fascinating and it has comfortable seating, friendly servers, and clean restroom. Besides loving food, I usually check out restaurants' restrooms to examine their cleanliness. I did not expect to find a sushi bar there and I love sushi as much as my mom loves Chinese food. The menu has a great selection on Chinese food. Their Chinese food is great. Between the 2 of us we had chicken with cashew stir fry...it comes with white or fried rice. 1 chicken corn soup. Cost us around $16 and we had a little left over after we stuffed our faces. Service is helpful and professional. Big parking lot next to the restaurant. our whole family use to go to this place when they started this business we use to go for sushi that was great we use to go every week then we tried couple times chinese food or thai food lousy food in chinese sauce they put boiled chicken cubes we ordered hot & saur soup same thing boiled chicken cubes. thai food also they dont know what is thai food. sushi chef keep changing & quality keep going down so we do not recommend to any one. we will recommend great wall chinese restaurant near by in havensight mall. always the best since we are on the island. read more
