College student here. China moon is amazing. Support a family business and come here. I always do the takeout buffet, your food is weighed and you pay a calculated price. Last time i came was a bit late for lunch and the dinner period was in an hour, so I was the only one there. The woman employee there was at the table with fresh green beans (i think separating them or something). She gave me a discount for the buffet being a little lacking due to my being later in the lunch period and threw in a soda. No other place has ever done that for me. read more

we picked up some take out from there and it was the WORST Chinese food I have ever had. I ordered Low Mein and got the driest spaghetti noodles with some meat and vegetables. There was no gravy or favor for that matter. The pot sticker were every hard on the edges and had no favor what so ever. I have had bad food before, but this place defines the word BAD. I can only give a one star review because it does not go below that. I have eaten bad food in the past, but this place is Number One on the list of sh1tty tasting food ever. Literally the worst Chinese food I have ever had. However if you are looking for the best fried chicken in town, then run. Go in with the right expectations. It's a college town. It's cheap Chinese. And it's all you can eat for under $10. What's not to like? We went in expecting $10 food and that's what we got. I've had much worse. I'd come back! The sushi is also pretty good considering it's not a sushi bar. The waitress kept our table cleared off but wasn't overbearing which is a big plus for me. Immediately upon entering I saw too things. One single buffet line and a cloud of what appeared to be fog. The smell alone was enough to wake a dead man from a 150 year long slumber. If I wanted to sit in the sauna I would have gone to the gym. Who knows, maybe they would have halfway decent egg rolls. The one thing I can't complain about was the price... but even then I feel as if I still left paying too much. If you're looking for a family friendly dining experience, this might be the right place. My children amused themselves by playing with tiny crustacean creatures (image inserted below). A friend and I went here on a Monday since every other Chinese buffet establishment seemed to be closed on a Monday! Their dinner buffet opened at 4:30pm and we arrived at 5:10pm. Some of the food seemed old and questionable. The peanut butter chicken was definitely old and unable to be cut with a fork. The egg foo young was good (not all places make that well). The vegetable egg rolls were a bit difficult to bite into and seemed to be full of just cabbage like the other review commented. My friend who went to dinner with me tried biting into his egg roll, said "NOPEEEE!" and set it aside. Friend said the soups were good - egg drop and hot & sour. There is a fountain drink machine on part of the buffet counter but no mention if drinks come with the buffet price or are extra. Staff (only one person) seemed preoccupied with some other things and had some folks waiting at the front counter for a few minutes before anyone greeted them. There were about 8 people there when we left. I wouldn't say the place sucked but it definitely wasn't great. After reviewing with fellow foodie friend on what he would rate this place we both agreed on a solid 3/5. read more

This place was horrid. Tried this place only because reviews were decent. Upon entering, you are facing plain walls, whomever siad the decor was nice, lied! Only 1 wall in the whole place that has decor, and its a mural. Plain walls, plain fixtures, plain carpet, and guess what, plain and bland food. So, if you can take a gut bomb and don't have a lot of cash to spare, eat here. I would offer up the Royal Chinese Buffet, up in Richmond. Much better selection and better quality food. Unsanitary conditions here. Watched as the only waitress/hostess wiped her nose on her hand and then served someone a drink! My whole family became sick after eating here! When in doubt, China Moon. River Fall's china moon buffet always satisfies with fresh food, great service, and dishes aplenty. The variety of what can be eaten is awesome, the food is consistently of the highest quality, (as far as buffet food can go) and the atmosphere is good enough for me. Essentially, you know what you're going to get. Iv'e eaten at other Chinese buffets where the chicken was the consistency of mashed potatoes and the vegetables were old and rancid. When you eat at china moon you need not worry about sub-par quality. I eat out at china moon with my friends whenever we don't know where/what to eat. It's the restaurant we can always go back to (leaving at least a few days in between of course, nobody can frequently eat Chinese buffet food). The prices are also respectable, and takeout is very nice when in a hurry. All I have left to say is go to china moon, load up a plate, then another, and another, until you've had your fill, then leave satisfied. read more

Easy to get to and price is ok. They have sushi and it was wonderful. Staff is friendly and attentive to the buffet and nice steamy fresh food ready with the before ya scrap bottom. A great variety and fresh Chinese buffet to eat in or takeout with a budget friendly price. My favorite is sesame chicken, chicken broccoli and the cheese wontons. They would bring them out 10 at a time. Their main dishes were out frequently as well. Refills on drinks? Forget about it. Stopped by China Moon as I was traveling through River Falls for buffet lunch on Saturday ($6.95). Lots of different foods (various noodles, wontons, beef & broccoli, etc) available, but I spent most of my time on the various chicken dishes (sesame, sweet n sour, peanut butter, black and white, broccoli) and fruit bar (canteloupe, honeydew melon, pineapple, as well as puddings). There is also an ice cream cooler. Food was exceptional. Arrival time is key. Lunch starts at 11:15am. I arrived at 12:15pm and the food was fresh and being replenished, but that only lasted until about 12:45pm. The next guests to arrive (just after 1:00pm) were treated to some empty trays and food that has been sitting out. So I recommend arriving early for lunch. read more

I've been eating here since the late '90s and the many incarnations of owners. The family that owns it now does excellent cooking. Building is clean, they just need to have chicken sticks, potstickers, teriyaki chicken, vegetarian egg foo young and rice noodles on the buffet nightly. So it's a buffet and therefore I had to try just about everything tonight. Also my 4 stars are relative to this genre, i.e., Chinese buffet. I am very familiar with this place and have bounced between this Chinese buffet and another one kind of nearby for years. China Moon has a nicely updated decor and the food is not only updated but upgraded. Previously it was typical ok buffet food, but this time around I noticed some added pizzazz aka flavoring. A number of dishes including pepper beef, celery chicken, soup, all delivered a more satisfying taste than ever before. Even the sweet and sour had an added surprise with a hint of orange citrus. I spoke to one of the cooks (owner?) tonight and indeed he said they have made some food changes. I think for the better! Our service was perfect in terms of watching our beverage levels, etc. Plates were removed from our table right away and there were always plates at the buffet. It will be hard to justify travelling farther for Chinese food if they keep this up at China Moon in River Falls, WI! Price for 2 not including tip was under $23. read more
