We've gotten take out from Dragon Pearl a few times and the food is always fantastic. I love that they have a wide selection so that the non-sushi lovers in our group are able to pick something else. We love love love this place, however tonight I know being Christmas Day you were incredibly slammed, but we got a container filled with peanuts and I feel like that is an ingredient you need to be careful with! Kung Po Beef was a new order for us, and peanuts are not listed in the ingredients or in the options to sub out of so I'm not sure if this was a slip up or a regular occurrence! It's a serve allergy food and I just want everyone to be safe! Update - 4 stars! I have to bump Dragon Pearl up to 4 stars. The last time I was here was during the pandemic. Our experience was pathetic. In fact, at the time, I swore I'd never go back again. And my friend said he was very disappointed. Fast forward to 2024... My Wisconsin friend talked me into going back and giving them another chance. Things have improved dramatically since the pandemic! The food was good, the service was excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. The place was fairly busy and the amount of people coming in for takeout mid-day was crazy... now I understand why. Started our meal out with cream cheese wontons which were yummy and fresh. Ordered off the lunch menu- Dragon Pearl lo mein, egg roll, and fried rice and another lo mein, egg roll, and fried rice meal. Enough for two meals and the price is fantastic. Food was served fresh, hot, and flavorful. Our waitress was new. She was kind and attentive. The place looks small, but realized there was another area to sit. This is the spot. Although I've never been somewhere that classifies themselves as Japanese and Chinese, I'm a big fan. The lunch specials are unbeatable and the food is delicious. By far the best sushi and Chinese food I've had in western Wisconsin. Although we didn't try any special rolls, next time we come for dinner, that's what I'm going for. We got sesame chicken with fried rice and two cream cheese wontons, orange chicken with fried rice and an egg roll, and two 2 roll lunch specials for less than $40. Dishes are good portions to pass around the table, which is great for us because we like to try new things. The General Tso's chicken was seriously amazing. The best I have ever had by far. Next time I will order the spicy hot version because the spicy medium that I ordered was mild to me but the flavor, wow! We also had the Dragon Pearl special sushi appetizer and that was awesome as well. Sweet and sour chicken was delicious too. We have ordered from all of the local Asian restaurants in Hudson and I think we found our favorite place and item! Tonight we had the sesame chicken (spicy), plain fried rice and an order of spring rolls. It was seriously one of the best things I've eaten in a while. So good! Located in downtown Hudson, within an older building. The decor is a mix of Asian decorations with a modern flair. The restaurant has your typical Asian foods along with a Sushi bar. Many options on the menu, almost too many to choose from. My daughter ordered Shrimp Mai Fun and I ordered Moo Shu Pork with hot Oolong tea. Service was great, very attentive to any of our needs. All very good. Cons: 1. cream cheese wontons. What the heck was that basic fold over and fry process. Doing so reduces the amount of cheese inside and makes them too hard. I snuck into the small-windowed Dragon Pearl, lured by the promise of Sushi. Sushi is not common in the UK. While living there I frequently relied on one chain "Yo Sushi" to fulfil my Sushi needs. The food is just okay...nothing special. Three of the dishes that we ordered were basically the same just different sauce and difference price despite the name and description being very different. What disappointed me was we order green tea and jasmine tea for two people. The server came back with two green tea bags in one kettle. I asked that we ordered green tea and jasmine tea. The server said they're all in one kettle. I said that was just green tea and I need my jasmine tea. Long story short, he came back with another kettle with green tea bags in there. He either doesn't know the difference between green tea and jasmine tea or that they don't have jasmine tea at the moment. Whatever the case is, just be honest with the customer. This used to be our favorite Chinese place and unfortunately the prices have gone up and the food quality has really gone down since the change in ownership. The sesame chicken was tough and dry. It tasted like it was left over from lunch and reheated. The fried rice was blah and crunchy. The cream cheese wantons lacked flavor. My husband had the triple crown and said it was average, but he wouldn't come back for it. I guess that's why there were plenty of empty tables on a Fri. night during the dinner rush. This place is awesome. Everything my friends and I ordered on the menu tasted amazing. The sushi presentation is awesome!

This place reminds me of high school, when my friends and I would come down here for dinner and think that we were kinda cool for being out without our parents. But this is just a testament to how decent Dragon Pearl is. For a Wisconsin joint, they should feel a cut above the rest. Helen is one sweet lady and she knows how to make boring Chinese taste just a little unique. I am fond of most of the spicy dishes and for some reason, I think she has the best chicken chow mein around. The lo mein is also pretty good, as the veggies are recognizable and taste like they're supposed to. Their take on cream cheese wontons is also pretty good, as they aren't overly crisped or overly fried. All in all, for Hudson, this place is pretty darn all right. The neighborly feel and and Helen's enthusiasm for every customer (if you come regularly, she WILL remember you) makes you feel at home. Good for take out too! read more
