This is a great small town Chinese restaurant. Solid food, fair prices. The closest alternatives are all 10-20 minutes away and not worth the drive time. Ultimately, if we want Chinese, this is our location and we aren't mad about it. This is a place where you'll really want to order for pick-up, though there are a few tables available. It really isn't a dine-in setting, and that's fine by us. In the summer, you could pick up an order and go eat down by the river. We appreciate being able to order online (payment is in person). Today an item was forgotten in our order...it happens...and we called in and the missing item was provided without any trouble. I guess that is "expected," but it still feels like good customer service. As an added benefit, the entree containers end up becoming "left over" containers at our house until they wear out. Our orders usually include some form of orange chicken, General Tao's chicken, sesame chicken, lo mein, or fried rice, though most items on the menu are good and meet expectations for Chinese food. We're grateful that this store is in Prescott and hope that it remains here for years and years to come. read more

The first thing you notice when you walk into this place is a strong smell similar to cat urine. Despite this we have given this restaurant several chances since moving into town a couple of years ago, and the service so outweighs the food it's not worth the visit. Every time I have been here they tell you 30 minute wait when you call or order online. I learned after two visits to always wait at least 45 minutes yet no matter how much time we give I always arrive to find out they haven't even started my order. They then proceed to say its "almost ready" and will be done in 10 minutes which always results in another 25 minutes sitting in the restaurant. This place used to be great but now the food quality has went downhill.

The food is fantastic but their pickup times are never accurate. Either stop taking on-line orders or actually have the orders ready when they are suppose to be. It always says 20 minutes when you place an on-line order and it is never 20 minutes. My time like everyone else's is valuable and I don't appreciate having the food take almost an hour to be ready when it said 20 minutes. At least call you customers when you are running behind or eventually you will have no customers. read more

Quite literally the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Leann Chin was the winner of this prize until now. This is the level of execution that creates a need for YELP to add a ZERO STAR Rating for honesty. Don't get "chicken" from here, don't get "beef" from here, don't get any traditional American (battered and fried, IE lemon chicken, orange chicken, etc.) from here! DEFINITELY DO NOT GET EGG DROP SOUP from here. Fried rice is bland with no additions. Sauces all taste the same with different levels of sugar added. Veggies (the few we got) were so over cooked in sauce they were not edible. The only thing you can eat from here is the white rice and for the price of the meal.. buy yourself a nice rice cooker, some chicken and veg, sugar soy garlic and rice and do it right... it would be cheaper... AND FASTER for that matter. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THE LEVEL OF RESTAURANT THAT ACTUALLY GETS BUSINESS ENOUGH TO STAY OPEN (coming from a 23 years restaurant vet) UPDATE: Thought we would try the fortune cookies as everyone is still hungry... Aptly named! Took my family here for the first time tonight (husband, three kids). The kids were skeptical because it wasn't their usual place. It was very quiet, the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered two starters and two dinners. Food was a little slower to come out, but it was obvious that was because it was just made. Pot stickers were so good! Nice and big with a great filling. The portions for dinners were huge - the three kids (8, 6, and 3) were able to split one. The sauces were wonderful, not shockingly sweet like some. We will be back soon!- read more

Just an everyday Chinese restaurant. Had sesame chicken and it was all batter. It was pictured with broccoli but didn't have any when it came. Supposed to have pork fried rice. Again no pork. Not impressed for having a 4+ star rating. read more

walking into the restaurant it smelled rather moldy. But you can see the kitchen in the back and it looked clean and I was feeling lazy and didn't want to go to another place. The food was extremely well priced paying around eight dollars for an entrée, The service was quite prompt and we received our food 15 minutes after ordering. Ordering takeout, after arriving home the food who is fairly hot. Extremely hungry I dove into the chicken and was met with disappointment and sorrow. The lack of flavor brought me to this result of agony and hunger the chicken might taste good if I was blackout drunk and would not remember in the morning but I am not I am quite sober and quite disappointed. In the egg roll it looked like there was raw meat in it on top of that or I am just confused of what the hell I just took a big bite out of in hope something would taste good. The rice was beautifully done but then again it takes talent to mess up rice. I do not know how this restaurant has so many good reviews. My favorite is the steamed vegetables and chicken. Chicken is always very tender and the veggies are never over-done. Other items we've had that we have liked are beef and broccoli, chicken fried rice, beef lo mein and General Tso's chicken. Never had a bad order from 5 Star! I have heard people in the area talk about how great the food is here so we finally checked it out. We ordered our regular Chinese favorites over the phone: general tso's chicken, house lo mein, cream cheese wontons. We usually order from Ho King in Cottage Grove. The food at five star was so good that we will definitely be back! I will say, thank God they do take out because when we arrived to pick up the order, the building has an old smell. I'm guessing from the age of the building? I don't know, but I could never eat there. The stink was too much for me, but the food was fantastic! Their name isn't a boast. My friend asked me, jokingly, if Five Stars Chinese was 5 star. I could honestly say, "yes it is". Prescott is filled with some really good restaurants. 5 Stars is no exception. The flavors, quality and preparation were spot on. We had the Supreme Fried Rice which was fresh and not at all greasy. Loaded with everything it is my new favorite rice. We also had the Spicy Shrimp and Curry Chicken. Again, fresh, delicious and light. The complexity of the curry was really a nice surprise. 5 Stars is worth the extra trip if you're in Hastings or Cottage Grove. They far exceed the Chinese food offerings in those towns. read more

Changed ownership 3 months ago and noticed a change at that time. Orange chicken is not the same. Many of their entrees taste very similar because they use too much 5 spice which we do not like. This was our go to place for an excellent Chinese takeout meal but now it is just ok. read more

I ordered from Five Stars today for the first time and it was absolutely awesome! I ordered and picked it up and brought it back to my boat at the Marina. I ordered two of their dinner specials and received a lot of food for only $7.25 per dinner special complete with egg roll and pork fried rice. I can't believe I been here slipping my boat here 3 years and only now tried them. I will definitely become a regular customer. read more

Customer Service sucks !!!!! There is this pregnant, lady I dont know if its her hormones or whatever it was....super mean to me. Went in a few days ago it was super hot, first thing I noticed there was no airconditioning. I came up, and I asked her what kind of egg rolls they have... she took the menu and shoved it in front of me. I could tell she just did not want me there. so I looked at the menu, ordered a few items and took out my card and handed it to her... she pointed at the sign that say credit card payments must be over $10. Her facial expression said "stupid" !!!!! So I hurry up and ordered something else. She took my card, swiped hand it back to me and stated 20 minutes and went back to cooking....no receipt or anything. So I sat in there sweating wondering if I was the only one treated this way. After I took the food... I went over to my moms place.... she noticed my facial expression... and I told her where I was and she didn't even have to hear the rest of the story she knew I experienced the lady's bad attitude towards me, and mentioned that other people have said the food was nice but her attitude sucks as well. Which made me feel a little bit better but still bad that I was maltreated!!! Food good or not, I wont go there again!!!!! I've went to other restaurants like that, that are way better.....great customer service.... and have a better set up. read more
