Nothing beats FRESH. Period. Halal certified feels safer to me sometimes, though, I do eat pork, but not often at all. Place was clean and the smell was alluring. Shrimp and broccoli was amazing. Broccoli done right. My oldest son loves sesame chicken. He was satisfied with his portion. Says it was fresh and good. They were swamped with orders and the wait was average about 10 minutes. I did notice one thing. They were making their chicken wings fresh. Like raw wings, flour and fry. That is more amazing then it sounds because most Chinese places pre fry then fry again. I'm definitely getting wings on my next visit. Their chicken fried rice was a great swap out for pork fried rice. The chicken pieces were identifiably chicken lol which is important!! read more

I think this is my go-to. Food is always fresh, it is Halal, and reasonably priced. The only thing I dont like about them is that they are extremely S L O W, and it takes them a long time to pick up the phone to take orders, so you wind up going down there and waiting. I always order General Tsos shrimp and spring rolls which is rather tasty! Chicken wings were aiight, nothing to brafg about. But if I ever order Chinese food, this is my spot! read more

I have finally eaten here after saying I was so many times I usually order shrimp & broccoli with white rice and chicken wings ($14.50) I usually get to eat from it about 2x I don't eat a lot of food at one time and it was good I had no complaints, but I decided to try something a little different and wasn't to pleases I order half a chicken with brown rice ($10.00) well I think the brown rice is just fried rice with soy sauce all over it because I ain't never seen brown rice that dark so I will never order that rice again especially since I don't like soy sauce and it is too salty for me but the chicken was good.. read more

It's Halal! A Halal American-Chinese restaurant!!! Once upon a time, I would never walk into places like this for my Asian or semi-Asian food. Here I go again using the term: Hole-in-the-Wall. In this area, a lot of establishments could be labeled as "Hole-in-the-Walls" so I can't see that as a strike against this place. When you walk in, you'll notice the kitchen and cashier is boarded up behind a thick, bullet-proof-esque plastic. This is not uncommon for Chinese spots in the area, so I can't see that as a strike against this place. I wanted my GF to eat off my order so I ordered her faves: Hot and Sour Soup and Singapore noodles. No need to ask them to hold the pork (GF doesn't eat pork, but I sooo do) because they're Halal and there's no pork on the menu. The Singapore noodles were made quite differently from what we expected, but it was still really yummy in its own way. The soup was delicious. It had huge chunks of chicken, which was odd, but still tasty. Overall, I think they're good! read more

Picked up my nephew from work and he wanted Chinese food. He told me about this spot. . I was not interested and was headed to Scotch Plains he said Auntie trust me. Well folks they didn't disappoint. I must admit I've never had bad Halal food. Am I fortunate, maybe. Truthfully I think there's just a lot of pride in preparing food when it's Halal (just my humble opinion) . I bought shrimp and broccoli. This place has good food, but I ordered food from there the other day and I found a bug in my food crawling around while I was eating my food. I was so upset and disgusted. I called them and told them what happened and the guy said I had to come back to the store with an attitude on the phone. Because of his attitude I drove all the way back to the store and showed the guy my food and he was like oh show me where you seen the bug and when I turned the chicken around it was there walking in my food . The guy had an attitude said he didn't know what that was. I told him give me my money back and walked away. I will never come to this place again. They are disgusting and nasty. The guy on the line hung up on me twice. 1st- right after he said there was no delivery, not knowing if I was going to change my mind (like another lady had experienced) 2nd- he hung up on me thinking I was going insist on delivery, when I was actually calling back to do pick up- and he didn't even grant me that. Poor customer service. I don't understand how I am asking you to do something as a customer that does not require much and you turn around and walk away while I'm speaking to you. That is very rude and I will never spend my money here again. I came in to make an order and all I asked was if the two items I wanted to purchase be put in the same container. The man tells me no. When I make an effort to explain what I mean he walks away as I'm talking to him. If that's not poor customer service I don't know what is. By far the best Chinese food I've ever had. The food is always fresh and flavors are amazing. I really enjoy the classic wings above all else, no extra breading or sauces to hide the authenticity of true halal chicken wings. Once you bite into the crispy skin, and sink your teeth into the juicy meat, you'll understand what I mean. The bold flavors really stand out in all the dishes. Personally, besides the wings, my favorites are the Chicken With Broccoli and the General Tso's Chicken. The sauce they use for the General Tso's is out of this world. If you haven't tried, please do yourself a favor and try it . Highly recommend you eat the food right away, that's when it's best (obviously). Although, it's still delicious if you decide to save it for later. On top of the flavor, freshness, and authenticity of their food, the prices are incredibly affordable and reasonable. I'm new to the area and really wanted some good Chinese food. I came from Newark and seriously never had Chinese food this good. This place, hands down, has some of the best Chinese food. I didn't realize it was halal and wanted some pork, but in the end it was so much better than eating heavy pork. The food is not greasy, it's fresh and flavorful. I ordered the shrimp fried rice (which had ALOT of shrimp) the honey shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, and the crispy fried chicken. They eve gave me two extra small rices and a full liter of soda for free. Hands down some of the best service I've ever had at a Chinese place. read more

The guy in the front is so handsome. My girlfriend broke up with me after visiting once. As sad as I was, biting into the General Tso's chicken made me happy again. I do not love Chinese food but find that I eat it more often than I should because it's pretty accessible. I was in good old EO and my friend said I HAD to try this Chinese food so off I went! Definitely looks like your typical Chinese spot in any hood! What's up with the air conditioning? But moving right along... I ordered shrimp fried rice and half a chicken as suggested by my friend. She ordered beef fried rice and crab sticks. When we got home, I realized that they punched a hole in the container which kept my chicken crisp! Good job! The rice was good, not too greasy. So I've been gone for a minute but I'm back up for another review. So this place, China pagoda, is completely excellent. I have tried multiple food items from this restaurant and I must say everything has been exceptional. First, believe the hype about the chicken wings. They are excellent. The chicken wings are very crispy and have a nice flavor. They are certainly more than salt-and-pepper wings. I've also tried the general tso shrimp. Now this restaurant actually has a kick when they say that a dish spicy. The general tso had such a nice spice and the shrimp were super juicy. The shrimp and broccoli had a beautiful hint of ginger and the wonton soup is delicious. I seriously recommend a large! This restaurant is not your ordinary Chinese takeout.The employees are very kind and the food has always been great. If you've never been here, come here! read more

This is the best Chinese food in East Orange. For one I don't eat pork so this was a bonus. Everyone who works here speaks clearly and is very respectful. Everything that I have every ordered here has been amazing, last night I had the halal wings they were honey flavor and were amazing. Food is never greasy and always prepared hot and ready. I've been here three times in the past 30 days. I've only had the general tso's chicken with beef fried rice and it's by far the best Chinese place I've been to. (I only rated it 4 stars because I haven't tried anything else.) the people are friendly and respectful and the food is really worth the drive. Just make sure you call ahead of time since it can take a little while for the food to be ready. read more

I ordered the hunan shrimp and I thought it was the actual entree that wasn't good until I tried it at good tasty too in Newark and realized it was restaurant , not the dish that wasn't good. Best Chinese place in Essex county. It's pricier than other Chinese places but the taste is worth it. My recommendation "chicken wings with garlic sauce with vegetable fried rice". The single best platter you will have. The next best place is Aishas on Bergen st in Newark who are also pricey but unbelievable good. read more
