I finally tried Dave's to see what the hype is all about. And I am glad that I did! It is absolutely delicious. The spice/heat level of the chicken is perfect and I appreciate the option to choose. The food took forever. They were making a ton of uber eats delivery orders before eat in customers. The table was covered in sticky soda and dipping sauce and I had to ask an employee to clean the table. Once the food was ready the mozzarella sticks were cold and the cheese had hardened back up on one side of the breading and the other half was hollow. Just empty crust. The fries were cold and tasted horrible. The chicken bites were real chicken but other than that they weren't flavorful or better than anywhere else that would make me crave them in the future. I ended up throwing more than 1/2 of my food away, as did my other family members who were with me. A five star chicken spot. Almost unheard of in my book. This place was packed and the flow of customers was very consistent. As soon as someone got up from a table we grabbed it. Very clean, very vibrant space. Menu is simple, does not over complicate things. Sliders and tenders. Even a vegan option called Dave's Not Chicken which is a cauliflower sub. The heat ranges from none to sign a waiver if you want to try it.(!) I love the option that allows you to get a tender and a slider because why not? I did. I punked out a bit and got the mild flavor. Fair warning that mild is no heat at all. Not to me atleast. Next time I'll go for medium. My people tried Medium and said they could've done hot. So, we'll have to see another time. The fries though. Hold up! Whatever crack they sprinkled on those crinkle cut beauties need to be sold for profit. It was addicting and fresh. The daves sauce paired perfectly with them. The sandwiches and sliders were well and thoroughly seasoned. I could've have definitely gone spicier. The delicious Dill pickle cuts and the coleslaw cooled my already cool down. Honey packets and ketchup available upon demand. Regardless of the traffic, the order was done at an appropriate amount of time. Everyone I was with lamented on the portions, quality and presentation. All were a hit. Who doesn't love a Nashville style tender paired with great sauce, excellent pickles and a great slaw? I do! Honestly, I came into this establishment at 10 pm not expecting much because it was late and it is fast food. But I was so pleasantly surprised The wait wasn't that long and the cashier had a very great attitude. The fries and chicken were super crispy which I loved. It's more of a dry rub, rather than sauce on the chicken but it's a game changer if you put the honey on the sandwich!!! read more

TLDR: great food, great value. Eat the chicken tender/sliders with honey and Dave's sauce. New establishment in Kearny and it certainly did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and helpful, food was amazing and worth its price. A lot of seating in very busy environment. Looking at the menu, you would think it is pricy just for some chicken. But it's not. It's worth is value and the flavors you get to experience are priceless. Chicken tenders are HUGE, fries are nice and crisp, Dave's sauce is perfect and when paired together... heaven. After a long day of baseball, the kid wanted to go to Dave's Hot Chicken. We ordered there opposed to ordering online. Inside was very clean and well organized. Very wide open and plenty of seating inside if you wanted to eat in. We all got the chicken sandwich. My son and I got our chicken with medium sauce and my wife got mild. Medium had a slight kick. Nothing crazy. Chicken itself was tender and freshly made. I think there was just a little too much breading on it for me I also got an order of Mac and Cheese which I shared with my son and I got the kale slaw which was VERY GOOD. Mac and cheese was creamy and enough as a side dish for two people. To wash it down, we all got icees that came in collectible cups. The service team is kind and outgoing the ambiance reminds me of my 80s and 90s graffiti fan phase but cleaner and brighter. Great for take out and there is sit in. I had single sandwich and cheese fries.. most importantly it's one of the few local halal places and I'm happy about it. Esp when I need comforting haha. read more

I was very impressed by the Kearny location as I have been to the Wayne one in the past. This location was way less crowded, seemed cleaner (maybe from being less crowded), and plenty of parking. Monica took my order and was delightful. I hire employees as part of my job, and certain people are culture builders. She is an asset to this location and they should definitely track someone like her for a future leadership position. I was able to identify this in our 90 seconds of interaction. Look... is it hot? I'd say it's mildly attractive. If it was on a scale from 1-me, it would fall at a good 5'8" guy that gives too many hugs. Is the chicken crispy? Yes. Is it greasy? Yes. Does it taste like anything? Not really. If this was $5 I'd say it's not bad, but I got a free slider, fries, and a small shake and it was $10. If the slider wasn't free it's $18. My friend got a slice of white bread with a chicken tender on top. Look... compared to other places, really not that amazing. Compared to college dining hall food? Still not that amazing. If you like the idea of food looking good then you will enjoy this place. The staff was friendly and nice though so I'm really just rating the chicken.
