    General Tsao's Chicken

I have ordered here for five years and been satisfied. Today, 12/15/2025, I ordered Sesame chicken and General Tsao's chicken . Neither item looked or had the normal aroma. Both dishes were overcooked and over battered. My family commented immediately on the appearance of the food being unusual. After several bites (3) of them scraped their dishes into the trash. I tried to cut my chicken with a dinner knife. It was too tough. I got a steak knife and could cut it, but not chew it. I ate a small portion then threw mine out. Further the fried rice was not fried rice at all. I have recommended this restaurant, but something was very wrong today.

    Menu

Good food, good portion sizes. Maybe not the best place to eat in at but it's a great take out spot.

The food was actually quite terrible. My husband picked it up so I can't comment on the ambiance or service, however I can imagine it's not great. Missing soup, egg rolls, and fried rice from our order. They used styrofoam to contain a VERY hot and sauce covered chicken dish which did NOT hold up in the bag and spilled everywhere. The chicken and cashew was 50% celery and carrot bits, too small to pick out if you don't like that flavor. The chicken was chopped into tiny bits as well. The teriyaki flavor is a joke. The flavor of the spare ribs and crab Rangoons also seemed off. The only thing I can compliment is the white rice.. but it's hard to mess that one up.

The food is terrible. Anybody who says otherwise probably thinks Waffle House is fine dining.

What are the hours of operation? I mean I know them but why isn't it in more info tab on yelp, it'd be more convenient, right?

Absolutely recommend this place! First impressions are everything and one of the first things I…read morelook for is restaurant cleanliness which this place definitely scores high on! Professional and friendly staff greet you, seating is fairly minimal due to space but their food is so fresh and flavorful it holds well as takeout. We ordered the House Fried Rice which contained chicken, shrimp, and pork along with bits of veggies. The amount of meat was surprisingly plentiful and appreciated! Usually places skimp on the proteins in their fried rice but this place is not one of those places. The chicken on the rice was super tender and full of flavor! We also had the General Tso's Chicken which had a nice light heat and overall delicious sauce. Their Spring Rolls are delicious and come 2 per order. If you love Spring Rolls (like me) I recommend getting two orders (4 rolls) as they run a little on the small side. They're currently only about $2 per order though so they make a delicious little snack for a great price. I'd totally pop in just for a couple of those!

Not your typical Asian fare. They do use a lot of peas in the hot and sour soup, which was a surprise though it was quite good.

Five stars and then some…read more Lieu's Bistro is one of those rare spots where the food is excellent and the hospitality feels ancestral. You walk in hungry and leave hugged. The egg flower soup is pure comfort in a bowl. Silky ribbons of egg drifting through a golden broth that tastes like it has stories to tell. It is delicate but confident, warm without being heavy, the kind of soup that resets your whole mood. And the Szechuan salmon? Listen. Perfectly cooked, tender and flaky, wrapped in that bold, slightly spicy Szechuan glaze that dances instead of overwhelms. It has heat, depth, personality. Every bite feels intentional. What really sets this place apart is Peter and his wife. They do not just run a restaurant, they cultivate community. Every time I come in, they show me love like I am family. Not the polite, rehearsed kind. The real kind. The "good to see you again" with meaning behind it. If you want amazing food and an atmosphere that feels like home, Lieu's Bistro is it. Some restaurants feed you. This one embraces you.

Waited for someone to arrive at the hostess stand, when she arrived the lady didn't smile and welcome us, she just asked how many and follow me. Server on the other hand was very friendly and helpful from start to finish. She brought us water and took our soup order. The weekday lunch menu includes a salad/soup with a meal. The won ton soup only had one wonton and my egg drop soup was flavorless. I visited the bathroom which was extremely clean and smelled fresh. In fact all of the restaurant was extremely clean. My son mentioned this fact to a guy cleaning the dining room tables. He was doing a great job, over and above the table he cleaned the wall, seats and floor too 5/5 Entrees ordered, didn't take long. Vegetarian dish with lots of bok choy was lacking any flavor. I ordered the Almond chicken, there were a million slivers of almonds on top of shredded chicken, served with white rice. Again no flavor. Also the beef with added spice was disappointing. Such a shame as I really wanted to like this place. We ordered the Banana spring rolls with ice cream to share. It was delicious JMO as usual

The restaurant is compact size and staff is friendly. Seated and serviced right away. Our server is very informative on the menu items when asked. Expect big groups, little wait time and get a bit loud dining in. Looks like a local favorite for authentic chinese cuisine. Served usually hot, fresh ingredients, and made delicous. Portion is generous and quality of food is suberb. Adding this to my regular must come when in SC list of authentic Chinese food. Photos does no justice. I ordered the half steam whole chicken with ginger sauce( sauce is so tasty), Pea tips and fish ball noodle soup. There all tasty. My favorite is the seasoned pea tips cooked and seasoned soooo yummy, I cant explain it if your a vegetable eater you must try it!!!!

The eggplant tasted a bit bland. The eggplant was cooked to the right texture, but they should put more garlic in it. The pea vine was acceptable because it was young enough. But I did have a bite on a tough piece. Again, they could put some more garlic in it. Comparing to the authentic Chinese restaurants in California, I would say that this would be in a third tier quality. The staff was friendly and helpful.
