I have been a long time customer of this place. However I'm completely disappointed in their manager. I called in an order, got it home, it was wrong. Called up there and they said they would remake. My husband get up there, they insist that he needed to bring the food back before replacing. 1. This was not told to me on the phone prior to him leaving. 2. We all know its just going to get thrown away, so didn't assume we needed to bring plus gas wasted and 3. Who got time to lie about the food being wrong, especially when this is what I wanted for dinner and the store is near closing hours. When I spoke to the manager, she tried to get argumentative when the mistake was on them! I don't know was kind of unsavory people they have dealt with, but I hope it was all worth it to lose a long time customer over $15 meal. read more

Very clean restaurant. The waiter was very nice and efficient. I ordered the children's tempura shrimp dinner with an egg roll and dumplings on The side. They didn't have shrimp tempura for an adult menu, but the shrimp tempura was enough. It was crispy and savory. They give you a couple of sauces for dipping. The egg roll was crispy and the vegetables and pork were sweet and delicious. The dumplings were full of meat and very filling! My husband enjoyed the hibachi steak! It was tender and the vegetables were crispy and fresh. We then ordered strawberry shortcake and it was so beautifully presented. The strawberries were arranged like a flower. Service is excellent! Arrived as a large group around 11.45am. Plenty of tables were available to push together. Orders were taken quickly. We were given water and sweet tea or coke for those who ordered it. I chose the Egg drop soup. Most chose the Egg Roll. Chicken and Cashews with fried rice for me. It was served hot and delicious. Ordered the beef Pad Thai. It came with two Lemon slices, I was expecting Lime? And I did not see any (none at all) peanuts. Maybe it's just peanut juice and not any actual peanuts. And the noodles just did not look like what I was expecting for Pad Thai (no color/bland) I think the menu had a spicy chili symbol next to the Pad Thai text indicating Spicy. And I have a real baby tongue for Spice levels, was not Spicy at all. Just not what I was expecting and a little disappointed. The Hot and Sour soup was very good. I ordered a bourbon chicken combination on a Saturday evening and it had a hair in my food as I was half way through my meal- I called and they said to bring it back the next day! I went to their establishment Sunday only to find them closed! I then went back on Monday and the manager was extremely rude- refunded only the plate and not the whole combination! The rice was a bit gummy (I think they have the rolls premade) but it was actually pretty good. The Mongolian beef is a stand out dish. The side of noodles that we got with it weren't great though. For Oriental House, our last supper. What we once considered our absolute best choice for Chinese takeout, has fallen to a position of "never again". Prices have risen- I know food costs have increased, but the price increases have outpaced costs. Over time the hot and sour soup, which used to be a draw for us, has become generic in flavor and the vegetables fewer in number. Tonight the Shrimp Fried Rice had no vegetables, the scrambled eggs not existent, and the rice was not fried, as expected. The Shrimp Lo Mein shared the same soft and small shrimp, cleverly stacked on the top of the order so that it was not obvious that's all there was in the bowl. Normally at $41, we could at least say we could eat leftovers to increase the value. Two still-full bowls headed for the trash ends both this review and our visits to Oriental House. read more

Such a good spot. I've actually been to both locations. Prices are decent and they give you so much dang food. We had some friends pick up some food for us. We decided on the kids lo mein plain and the singapore noodles. The lo mein was so good with a smoky flavor. Noodles were thick and chewy which my daughter liked. Singapore noodles had a very generous portion. We got them curry style but you can opt for soy sauce instead. Curry had a slight kick to it. Veggies in the noodles were cooked good. Chicken had a good texture to it. I can't wait to try other stuff on their menu! read more

We got takeout here. My husband liked his chicken lo mein. I ordered chicken and broccoli with fried rice. What I got (pictured) was steamed chicken with mixed veggies. It was steamed to the point you could no longer tell it was meat. There was no flavor, even in the rice. It was inedible and bizarre. Lunch special advertised as small entry with choice of egg drop soup, hot and sweet soup, or salad. The hot and sweet soup is the same price as won ton soup, but they refused to substitute. What a joke. When informed they would not substitute, there wasn't any empathy expressed, or a sorry we can't do that without explanation. Wow, I'm impressed. Walking in, there were three registers with friendly faces ready to take my order, and there was also a hostess who would seat you if you'd rather have table service. You can't get the full range of what they offer by looking at the take-out board, so one of the cashiers recommended I check the menu. After perusing a bit, another nice young man took my order for the Hunan Chicken combo. This comes with either white or fried rice or lo mein, as well as an egg roll for $8.45. After waiting about 7-8 minutes, my food was brought out ready to go, and I was asked what types of sauces would I like. When I took the bag, I was surprised at the heavy weight of it. Once I opened it up, again, I was impressed. The packaging is neat, clean and sturdy - no drippy Chinese food boxes. And the flavor - oh my! This is probably the freshest Chinese food I've ever eaten. The Hunan Chicken is spicy enough to make you sweat a bit, but not uncomfortably so (i.e. "George loves spicy chicken"). Rice was not sticky and had flavor to it, and the egg roll was not greasy. And to top it off, there was enough food for two people, if you are generous enough to share. Delicious! Very Good Chinese and exceptional service! This restaurant is very clean and meticulously managed. Great waitstaff. Among the best and least expensive Chinese around...I haven't had better in Greenville. There is ample seating in cafeteria style surroundings. Noise is moderate. The Egg Foo Young is absolutely the best I've ever had and the serving is massive. At $7.95 for Chicken, slightly more for beef or shrimp, it is a stupidly good deal. My brother says that the Beef and Broccoli is the best he's had...I've never tried it as the Chicken Egg Foo Young is just too good to risk it. They have all of the standards and a hibachi grill for fresh grilled dishes. Wow...great place. Please try Oriental House as you will not be disappointed. These folks work hard and deliver amazing value...they deserve your business and you their food!! read more

We have lived in the Greenville SC area for over 20 years now and had been on a search for what we would consider the best Chinese takeout place. This is one of the spots we have found that does very good Chinese food. My only concern is their lack of organization at times as it seems like you may wait unnecessarily for your take-out order to be ready. Funny thing is the other place that also competes for the best is within walking distance. Give them a try if you have not been. Hibachi and also Singapore noodle dishes here are great as alternates to the standard dishes. Soups also solid. Enjoy! read more

I really like this place and visit here often. You have to be prepared for a bit of a wait, but the food is always very good and they give you a good portion size for the price. I regularly get the shrimp hibachi and a drink for about $11.00 and can split it between two meals most days. The food is almost always cooked to perfection but occasionally the shrimp is served on the well done side. The cooks are always very friendly and have been able to meet any special requests. I've seen a few complaints in other reviews about paying extra for white sauce, but I've never been to a place that didn't charge for more sauce. It's only $0.25 and totally worth it. The restaurant itself is small with a few tables and nothing fancy. I wouldn't recommend an anniversary or birthday date here but it's comfortable and clean including clean restrooms. read more

Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. We were one of three occupied tables, so they weren't busy. Food was brought out in stages, so I sat and watched my husband eat while waiting over ten minutes for my food to be brought out. Server didn't go out of his way to be friendly. Food was brought to the table by someone else. Server never came back to the table to see if everything was alright and/or if we needed anything else. Vegetable Pad Thai lists bean sprouts as one of the ingredients. There wasn't a single bean sprout in the entire dish. It comes with a "peanut" sauce, which was a very small amount of very thin, vinegar tasting sauce. No peanut taste whatsoever. Vegetable fried rice had a lot of broccoli (which was very tasty), and a peas/carrots combo which seemed to be like the frozen mixture you get from the grocery store (not so good). The dish didn't have a lot of flavor to it. $40 (excluding tip) for lunch is a bit steep, especially for food that was mediocre at best. Won't be back. read more

Food is always good but they should teach manners to the young adults dealing directly with customers. I initially called in for a pick up order but had to to revisit the menu.. called back three times and each time the rings got shorter.. I can tell I was being hanged up on. Then came in to order and it took a min or so to even be acknowledged. As I sat and waited for my food, I realized that wasn't the case for "fairer" skin customers.
