The service is poor. They barely greeted us and told us where to sit. That was the extend of the service. Food is lukewarm, the buffet was terrible. There was no meat in the dishes. It looks like people picked the meat out of the prepared dishes and just left the veggies. What was available was not hot, not flavorful and there were no labels telling what food was what. Additionally, the area was very run down and looks like they don't care to maintenance and maintain what they have. Looks dated and dirty. LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Black Pepper Chicken is so good. Crab Rangoon have loads of filling and are super tasty!!! Went here right before they closed, and they asked us what we like and made it fresh. Very nice people. Good soft served ice cream. Only thing is sometimes their fountain machine is not working properly and the soda is sometimes not as carbonated cause I think they switch to a 2 liter. Me and my family have been coming here for a while now and the food here never disappoints and is always consistent with good food for a great price. We have been to many Chinese restaurants up to the most expensive ones and this one tastes the best overall. I never give a 1 star review, but this place messed up everything the one time I've been there. I only ordered takeout from there because their website had an online ordering option through Menufy. I ordered, showed up, and no one had received the order. So they charged me again, and I had to wait for my order. That aside, if the food was good, it would have made up for it. But it wasn't. The hot and sour soup was neither hot or sour. The egg rolls were super greasy. And the Kung Pao was super bland. And when they boxed up the order they didn't have the right size containers. So they crammed what they could in, and most of the Kung Pao spilled out in the bag. On the plus size, Menufy had them refund my credit card. So I was only charged once. read more

This place is a carbon-copy Chinese buffet. The menu is standard goopy American-Chinese, with little originality. Tickets are placed on trays yet we have to go to up to the register to pay. Huge paintings of Chinese landscapes hang on the walls. But there are a few things that keep me coming back once every month or two. First, the quality of the food is slightly above average. Second, the prices are among the best in town. Dinner currently runs $7.79 per person; lunch is $5.79. The buffet is fairly small. I think they've made a wise choice of limiting the selection a little bit so that they can keep the items freshly restocked. The food is generally on the sweet and oily side. The food is rarely bursting with flavor, but it's never bad. The spiciest item is the garlic chicken, and even that has only low-to-moderate heat. In 2013, the front-of-house staff appeared very stressed, almost on the verge of tears. In 2014, they've been notably less sad, but still tired-looking. Whatever is going on gives the place a negative vibe, and it makes me worry about the future of the restaurant. Quiet classical music and decent spacing between the tables makes it a good place for conversation. I've not noticed any significant health violations, but they were briefly shut down in late 2013 by the Health Department (see the "not recommended" review for details). read more

Got there and she just walked up to a table not even indicating she was seating us there. When we went to get food about half of the pans were empty. She told us to tell her which ones to cook. I told her and the food was just decent as if it was reheated. If you want to have a good experience with service and food I would not recommend coming here. read more

Not sure what all the obnoxious one star reviews are about, because this is one of my favorite Chinese buffets. First off is the price, you don't get this kind of value anywhere. Dinner is only $8.29, and there are plenty of things to eat here. Some of my favorite items are the fried chicken wings, sesame chicken, stuffed mushrooms, dumplings, and the crab rangoons are seriously the best crab rangoons I've ever had. And super rare for a chinese buffet is that the dumplings and rangoons are actually hand made and not the frozen variety. But really these guys take a lot of pride in their food. I saw the owner asking one of the customers how the food was and the customer actually got out of his seat to point out all the things he liked. The owner was just smiling and told him he was happy that he enjoyed the food. Now this is the kind of guy I want to dine with. Support this local family owned restaurant and give them a try. I'm not a fan of negative reviews but I had no choice on this one. The service was awful. Place was disorganized with stuff. Empty pans sitting around the Buffett areas. The staff literally could not speak any sort of English. Wouldn't even talk - AT ALL. Half of our drinks didn't show up & had to go get someone to help/ask 2 times for drinks. We went here for dinner tonight at 7:15 PM. The restaurant signs say they are open until 9PM. There wasn't much food out, and what was out was old. The pot sticks were dark and looked burned. There was no doughnuts, no jello, no cookies, and lots more. The lady asked 2 people what they wanted put out, and then she added like maybe 10 of that item (shrimp and chicken tenders?). I never got asked or I would told her of the trouble my husband has eating old food. It has to be moist and fresh (throat cancer). We used to come here more often before the virus, and this was first time back in over a year. What a disappointment. We will be looking for another Chinese restaurant to pop into now and then, but will not return here. I give this restaurant an UNSATISFACTORY rating. It is cheap. That's the number one virtue of this place. You get what you pay for and the quality-value equation is about right. I walk in and the waitress fairly well acosts me before I get to a table and asks me what I want to drink. I ask for hot tea but get moderately warm tea. The warming table doesn't warm so act fast when the food is brought out. The food items vary in quality with the mushrooms being inedible. Been a while since I have been for lunch or dinner buffet at this location as I have moved to Northwest Omaha. Not as huge as China Buffet, or Grand China Buffet, but what they do, they do right. Great value--fresh food--smaller selection but ample and better than most. It was so good last week we decided to try it again. This is more than so-so for a $5.99 lunch, hot tea included! The food is fresh, tasty and of very good quality. The average joe doesn't understand what it takes to produce and maintain a good buffet at a very reasonable value. This place is full for a reason. The staff is very rude, won't even tell you the amount you owe at the cash register. I was excited to see peanut butter chicken on the buffet but it was so greasy I could barely eat it. I had the soft serve ice cream to top off my awful meal and it tasted like fish. I ordered take out. They got my order completely wrong. I got white rice instead of fried rice, the wrong egg fu young, and the Lemmon chicken is the worst I ever had. The lemon chicken sauce is bitter and not sweet at all. The chicken for the lemon chicken is soggy. Plus the sauce/gravy for egg fu young is a red sweet like sauce...unless they gave me the wrong sauce. I eat a lot of Chinese and never been served that kind of sauce with egg fu young. The egg fu young was also like nothing I have ever had it was like a smushed up omelette. It was disgusting! The service was horrible as well and I wasn't offer led silverware on a takeout order. The one good thing was the Crab Rangoon as it was well made and quite good. Overall this is one of the worst Chinese food restaurants I have eaten at in the 40 states I have traveled to. read more

In addition, if you're getting 'long in the tooth', ask for the senior discount, which makes it even cheaper. This whole experience was crazy. I installed the Yelp app so I could have dinner delivered to my daughter's family as she has 6 kids and it was her oldest child's 10th birthday. Apparently I was wrong about Yelp because when I entered my whole order, there was no choice for any kind of delivery. So ..... I called this restaurant to place the order over the phone. The woman who answered jept putting me on hold and after everything I said, she would sorta yell "Is that all??". Then I told her 2 broccoli beefs (no other veggies) with fried rice, 2 orange chickens w/fried rice, 1 shrimp fried rice, 4 egg rolls and 2 orders of fried dumplings. Here's the text I received from my daughter when I asked her how it was ....... "I hate it and they got the order all messed up and the pot stickers (dumplings) were not fried and were super goopy. We didnt get any egg rolls at all (we paid for them) and the shrimp in the fried rice were not done all the way and the worst was that the beef in the broccoli beef was super tough. " Wow. Tasted like CRAP and the service sucked. BF wanted to try the place instead of the usual Chinese Buffet we like, I thought it was a bad idea, but hey,, let him get it out of his system. Don't know how the food can be cold when they were somewhat busy,, but maybe the warmers don't keep things warm. The crab ragoon was extremely sweet and I didn't care for it at all. The mushrooms were good until I got to the pork. wish they would of just left them plain. dumblings were the same way , good until I got to the hunk of pork in the middle of it. Not much to pick from which I wouldn't mind if it was good but it wasn't. My 7 year old chose the jello and Sweet and Sour chicken ( just the chicken not the sauce), he barley touched it. claimed he was full which is his way of saying something sucked The place had a slight smell to it when we walked in and it wasn't food. Almost like wet carpet, but it could of just been all the people cramped into a small space. Some of the space was full of silverware and items probably from the kitchen. Was taking back on how much they really did not care about the appearance of the place. No one, not once asked us how it was,, I would of told her the truth.. truth hurts, probably why she didn't ask... My stomach hurt walking out and I didn't eat much. The China Star Buffett isn't exactly a five-star joint, based on its latest inspection. Live cockroaches were seen crawling through the kitchen and, perhaps worse, raw chicken was piled on counters, sinks, and floors. George Wu told WOWT 6 News, "That was during the busy time around noon so they didn't got enough time to clean that and put away so there's some food we put on the floor." Inspectors ordered the restaurant to close, saying the entire business was contaminated.
