This is a spot my girlfriend would frequent a lot while she was growing up in Nebraska. We're in town for over a week visiting and we're hitting up some of her old spots. I'm Chinese and grew up in the Bay Area in Cali, just to give you a reference. We ordered 3 family size entrees to go. Service was great and we got our food surprisingly fast. I've personally never had honey walnut shrimp this way where it was super breaded and served with the sauce is drenched with the shrimp and the veg. Because it's sitting in this container with the liquid, texture is just gone. Overall it did have a taste I'm use to for honey walnut shrimp. Portion size for the Mongolian beef to the rice was small to me and the beef tasted fine. Sesame chicken was also ok and they did provide sweet and sour sauce on the side. If you see the portion of chicken compared to the beef, you can see what I mean. My girlfriend use to get the sesame chicken all the time here and even she said it wasn't the same. Can't believe this place is rated 4.4. The hot and sour soup was really nothing. Neither hot nor sour. Super disappointing. I had pork egg foo young and I doubt there was any pork in it. Been coming to this place for almost 20 years. Decent Chinese food that is pretty Americanized. I usually get the Lemon Chicken or Chicken Lo Mein. On this occasion, my family didn't want to cook dinner so we ordered takeout here. Saturday night takeout was Lemon Chicken, Hot Garlic Chicken, Combo fried rice and some appetizers. I have been regularly visiting Chopstick House since high school and this will date me, but that is about two decades of patronizing this business! So if you couldn't tell from that tidbit of info, this is because I believe they are absolutely the best Chinese restaurant in Omaha. The exterior doesn't look super promising, being in a strip mall, but don't let that fool you - go inside and see for yourself why they've been in that location/in business for so many years! The entry way is very welcoming, with a little vestibule you walk in before the main interior. It used to have a little recording that it played, welcoming you when you opened the front door, but I think that has been gone for a while (but the memories remain LOL) The ambiance is very laid back with red wallpaper and a few Chinese art pieces around the walls. The servers are always friendly and the food comes out lickity split after you order. We usually start with the Crab Rangoon, which is super creamy and smooth (not dry and fluffy like some others we've had). Each dish comes with rice on the side, and you can choose steamed or fried. I always get the fried rice, and it's delicious all on its own, but obviously I mix it with my entree protein/sauce. Some of the dishes come with soup, with an option between Hot and Sour or Egg Drop. I do a combination of the two, and it's delicious. I've tried many entrees at Chopstick House, but my go-to dishes are: -Sweet and Sour Chicken: This is a standard that a lot of people choose at many Chinese restaurants and I have never been a fan usually, but Chopstick House's just hits different! Their sweet and sour sauce is actually coated on the breaded chicken, and it's an orange thinner sauce that's tangy and tasty - not the bright red you usually see. The whole dish is a LOT more flavorful and yet light feeling than other location's that I've tried. -Broccoli Chicken: This is another dish that is a big one at most Chinese places, but Chopstick has a different version. Their sauce is actually a clear/white sauce, and the chicken is so tender and juicy. I do like my thicker sauce that comes on other Broccoli Chickens I've tried, but this one is a lot lighter and not so heavy! -Asparagus Beef: I am an asparagus lover, so I usually order this whenever I see it. It's not on their menu all of the time, but they have it on special a lot of times when we've popped in. It's so delish with a silky, salty brown sauce and extra succulent strips of beef with little bits of asparagus. If you see this on the specials board when you walk in, order it! Highly recommend. -Peanut Butter Chicken: Another standard choice that a lot of people like to gravitate towards at Chinese eateries. Chopstick's PB Chix is SO flavorful and the chicken is extremely well battered and it doesn't get all soggy and slimy like sauced up fried chicken can get. They have single or family sized options, so you can choose to share one dish or get a few single dishes (we still share, even then, so we can try a little of both the dishes we picked). And lastly, this place will not break the bank. I don't think the prices have changed much since I started going there! So if you're on the lookout for a casual little Chinese spot that's affordable, with great food, and wonderful service, look no further than Chopstick House! read more

I ordered takeout and the only reason for 4-stars is I don't have Facebook so I had a hard time tracking down a menu, but, as others have said, the the service is fast and the food freshly prepared so I may not bother calling ahead in the future, but rather order onsite. When I called to order, they told me the meal would be ready in 10 minutes and by the time I got home, the food was still piping hot. Everything is made fresh and comes out piping hot. It is not premade. They will gladly make it how you like it. We just went again today and loved it as usual! Our go to is hot and spicy chicken, hot and spicy shrimp, egg drop soup with extra crunchy noodles, and extra crab rangoon. We also have had their kung pao, pepper beef, yum yum chicken, and sweet and sour chicken and everything is sooo good! They give great portions and their prices are very reasonable. A friend and I split the peanut butter chicken, crispy chicken in spicy garlic sauce, honey walnut chicken, and some spring rolls. Each entree came with rice and 2 crab rangoons. I'm super picky about Chinese food and hate when the sauce is gelatinous or the chicken isn't crunchy - this is not an issue here! This time was a one star but almost always a 5 star. I appreciate fresh and hot but this was the first time I had ordered General's chicken. It came so hot that it melted the bottom of the styrofoam and made everything taste like chemicals. It tasted off but I couldn't figure out why until I got about 1/3 through and noticed the box had bubbled up and was warped from the heat. I called to give them a heads and they said thanks for the feedback and that was it. I think I technically ordered generals tso chicken over the phone so I don't know if that is different than generals chicken but this one came without breaded chicken. I had high hopes for this place based on other reviews but I don't see what the hype is about (at least with what I ordered). The crab rangoon taste like they're filled with parmesan cheese and the beef with snow peas is in a bland, grey sauce. It's like they used the one that's meant for chicken, as it usually comes with a dark brown sauce in my experience. On the plus side the service was friendly and my food was hot, fresh, and ready in less than 5 minutes, so if I had a better dish I'd definitely come back. Found my new favorite place for Chinese food in Omaha. My spouse had the Beef Lo Mein and I had the Beef with Asparagus last weekend. Both dishes had nice portions of vegetables that accompanied the meat. Today, I tried the family size Imperial Chicken and my wife had her favorite Beef Lo Mein and both entree's were excellent again. Imperial Chicken had a nice spicy sauce and crispy pieces that were lightly battered. They had two specials posted on the board on each trip that came with 2 of the best crag Rangoon I have ever tasted, plus a nice cup of peppered hot sour soup and choice of fried or steamed rice. Clean, convenient location. Very nice people. Today I ordered pork Spring rolls. They were fried egg rolls, not Spring rolls. We also ordered "Crispy chicken with garlic sauce." The chicken is not crispy and I don't taste garlic, but it is VERY good! I've eaten here a handful of times and always get something different.
