Best Chinese food I've had in a MINUTE!! Located in aksarben. A smaller interior but I had no problem getting a table on a Saturday night for dinner. Service was good. The service was wonderful, and I usually love this place but the food was really lacking. Crab Rangoon barely had any filling, and the Fresh spring rolls from the dim sum menu were just not very good at all, and certainly not worth $8.50 for 2. It's supposed to come with a peanut sauce, and I kid you not, they gave me straight up peanut butter. Ended up having to mix soy sauce in order to even dip the rolls in it. Friend's pork spare ribs were WAY more bone than meat this time, which is usually not the case. I feel like maybe they're cutting corners lately, and it's a bummer to see because it's one of the few places in town to get dim sum. I wish I had more images to document I had here, it was exceptional! This was very much an authentic dim sum type meal. My friends and I especially enjoyed the egg, custard buns, the fried pork, and the pork belly. The fried pork came out much later than everything else, I thought they had forgotten my meal. Otherwise, the timing of this meal was great. The service was great as well! No complaints, they were very kind and accommodating to us having the baby at our table. The restaurant is a little tight (I wouldn't have noticed except that we had a stroller) so keep that in mind if you were with a large group. Overall, I would love to return! My husband and I are doing the ABCs of Omaha Restaurants we haven't been to, and New Gold Mountain ended up being the only N restaurant we hadn't been to (that we could find after extensive research!) So we made our way to New Gold Mountain, and it's in the Askarven Village area, which we love. The exterior is bright and modern so we were excited for that. Unfortunately, the interior is a little more dated and it also wasn't very clean or welcoming. When we walked into the establishment, one worker was screaming at another right in front of a bunch of diners. Not cool. Then when we were seated, our server (the one screaming at the other), sat us at a table with a dirty towel on it (?!) We politely asked for that to be removed, obviously, and she complied. There were also straw wrappers and trash bits on the floor near us too. Ick. Aside from the unprofessional attitude of the staff and dirtiness of the interior, the actual decor of the restaurant was pretty nice. A big wooden bar at the front, nice lighting, and some cool Chinese pieces tucked around the place. We perused the menu and saw a few things we were excited about. The dim sum looked great, with so many options to choose from. We ordered from the dim sum menu, but also from the normal entree menu. We started with the Chicken and Corn Soup. We were expecting it to just be a little bowl of it, but it is HUGE. It came in a silver pot with a ladle. We actually liked this a lot, as it's literally just chicken noodle soup basically, in the flavor (and I'm a big fan of corn). We also ordered the crab rangoon, and it was pretty tasty. I usually eat the crabby parts and put the wonton points into my soup, so I did that with the corn soup and it worked well. For our dim sum, we ordered three (but actually only got two). Our third one just never came, and we were full by the end of the meal so didn't want to complain and have it come and not eat it. We had the BBQ Buns, which were nice and fluffy, and the meat inside was flavorful, but a little bit of a small amount of it. And we got the Spare Ribs with Black Bean Sauce, and it had good flavor, but did have the bones inside each little hunk of rib, so be careful there. My husband almost broke a tooth! For the entree that we shared along with the apps and dim sum, we chose the Garlic Chicken. It was a large portion and the chicken was very tender and juicy. I would still recommend checking out New Gold Mountain, because the food was actually pretty good. I only knocked off a few stars for the cleanliness of the restaurant and rudeness of the staff. read more

Here's the revised version with that included, still short and polite: I've been to New Gold Mountain twice now. Service has been friendly and fast both times, which I really appreciate. That said, a few dishes felt a bit inconsistent. The Peking duck portion resembled more of a chicken leg, and the cashew chicken had very little actual chicken -- mostly onions, carrots, and baby corn -- with very few cashews included as well. The flavors were good, but the value felt a little off. If portions were a bit more balanced for the price, it would make it much easier to keep coming back every weekend. read more

I got the congee which is a rice porridge, and it is pretty good and reminds me of what my grandma would make as a kid. This location is at Aksarben Village and right near one of the garages. I think I've said this in a past but New Gold Mountain is the only spot in Omaha I've found dim sum that was pretty good. Whenever I crave dimsum I come here. The shumai is my go to. I ordered online and picked it up. My kids said they didnt want any but as soon as they saw it they wanted some. A complete dim sum menu without the carts. Outstanding noodle dishes, dumplings, and the duck is out of this world! We came for lunch during the week. The place was 1/2 full & seemed to be fully staffed. Our waitress came over quickly to take our order. We tried several appetizers/pot stickers. Pork & pork/shrimp dumplings tasted exactly the same. The Vietnamese shrimp spring roll is really flavorful with peanut sauce. The egg drop soup is pretty thick. I ordered from the lunch special; Kung Pao Shrimp. The heat could've been turned up-not very spicy. The shrimp are good sized & they had a lot of green peppers that I would've liked to have had something different. Portion sizes are good. I will be back to try something new. read more

The staff that greeted us looked annoyed that we even walked through the door. (It was only 2 of us) customer service was stale and cold. we felt rushed when it came to order. The dim sum is NOT cart style - you order from a menu and it's cooked and brought to you. This ensures it's nice and hot when you get to it. Don't be afraid to flag down your server if you need attention - they'll check in on you but not always as frequently on things like water refills (although they're better than some other dim sum restaurants I've been to.) Party room is available and they have a good amount of tables. Ambiance is medium - not fancy, but not casual either. I have never had dim sum in Omaha and I was excited to come here with my husband to try some of the small plates. We came after the lunch rush around 1:30 and it was still pretty busy. I let the woman at the front know we were knew and she was so kind and nice as she helped us with the menu. There are over 20 menu items to chose from and they all vary in price from $4.75 - 10.95 (but pretty sure they're more due to covid but they haven't updated their menus) We tried the spring rolls, prok dumplings, bbq pork buns, beef teriyaki, and stir fry. Over all the food was really good, the spring rolls were my favorite. I loved the stir fry, but the beef teriyaki was really chewy. The bao buns were really dry. I loved the pork dumplings. This place is the real deal--authentic, bustling, and full of a wonderfully diverse crowd that speaks to the quality of the food. We tried a wide variety and were delighted with every dish. The custard buns were beyond decadent, the beef skewers incredibly tender, and the pork belly--with sugar for dipping--was a surprising but delicious touch. The shrimp dumplings were generously stuffed and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. My personal favorite was the lotus leaf sticky rice--soft, fragrant, and absolutely unmatched anywhere else. The sesame balls were gigantic (almost too big to finish), and everything came out hot, fast, and beautifully prepared. Our server kept our water full and service was excellent. We spent about $60 for lunch, choosing several of the more premium dishes, but truly dined like royalty. You could absolutely eat well here for less, but we have no regrets. The waitress kept laughing and forgetting things we were asking for such as sugar , chopsticks and water, weird. The food was good but I was not impressed with my broccoli beef.
