I love getting a quart of shrimp lo mein from here because they do NOT skimp on the shrimp. At least half that container is shrimps. I also like getting their steamed dumplings, and egg foo young dishes. They're also very fast in making your food, usually ten mins or less. I ordered special fried rice and chicken wings, and the food was horrible. The rice tasted like it was made two days ago, and the chicken was very salty. China Star is really bad, and I hate to write this because the staff are friendly. However, after my third visit, I wanted to share why the low review. Ordered basic sweet & Sour chicken--heavy, thick breading, with small tasteless bits of white meat. Their sweet and sour sauce is heavy on the ketchup and their fried rice is too salty and dry. This is NOT New York Style Chinese food at all. Maybe UPSTATE NY, but definitely NOT NYC. Do not be fooled. The food was incredibly oily. I can literally tip the container to the side and there's a bunch of oil swimming there. It didn't help that my order was messed up and I was totally fine with driving 40 minutes back n forth AGAIN to have it fixed, but to taste like that?! It was just gross. Will never go back. I do believe that this restaurant is a catch all for the hungry and can't wait to eat. The rice is dry, The soup is bland. The egg roll tastes like it was frozen then thawed just before it was cooked. Mush. Tried all the restaurants in the area and had to settlE for this one. Next time I will just starve and lose weight. The service was not friendly, the bathrooms were disgusting and tables were sticky. When we asked for a glass of water, they "only" had warm water from the dirty sink Ina Styrofoam cup. No ice. Call ahead for faster service, otherwise there may be a long line and long wait time. This place has a fresh and tasty authentic Chinese dishes. The food portion size was large, the price was right, and all was good. There are a few tables for those who want to dine in, but this is mostly a carry out place. They have cold cans and bottled soft drinks in a cooler. This is one of the best fast food China restaurants in the area. We had good service and our meals were prepared correctly. read more

Horrible food in my opinion if you compare it to others . The house fried rice was dry and tasted like they obviously just threw it in the pan and heated up some rice that had already been cooked a while back. I also bought the barbecue ribs and they charged me almost $13 for "8 barbecue ribs " that tasted old and also dry and to top it off the ribs were so small that there was little to no meat and if you put 4 small ribs together it becomes only 1 entire pork rib. So really I got fucked for 13 dollars for 2 ribs. That's just called being cheap and greedy. read more

Surely one of the best take out spots in town. Call to place order was answered quickly, no hassles or mixups. Said it would be ready in 10 minutes. We arrived in ten minutes and as our egg foo young was sliding from the wok into the to-go box! We got home and enjoyed a wonderfully delicious, hot meal of beef with string beans, house special egg foo young and house special fried rice. We've still got another meal or more out of the leftovers! Love this place! Delivery service would be a big plus. read more

This was the best Chinese restaurant in town and around. Must be new owners now the worst. Their crab ragoon is now a soft wonton with cream cheese not any crab. Their BBQ spare ribs lots of grissle, and their food no flavor and a lot less real meat and fish. Strange from the best to the worst in my opinion. read more

Very good food and portion size for the price. Lunch specials Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $5.75. Only about 5 tables in the restaurant but all food is served in carry out containers so it is easy to eat in and take leftovers home. My group of four sampled four different dishes and we were all very pleased with what we ordered. There are many choices on the menu for lunch and dinner.
