I walked in to place a to-go order. The restaurant was very clean, well designed and welcoming. If I didn't have my dog in the car, I would have sat to eat. I have a lot of food allergies, so I have to custom order my sushi. Thankfully they were very accommodating. I ordered the On The Beach roll, modified. When I got to my destination and opened the box, I was impressed by the presentation. It was served like it was ready for a photograph. ((Unfortunately I forgot to take that picture, I was hungry.)) Well I had to find another way to leave a review for this restaurant because it is blocked on google for having to many fraudulent reviews and would not let me leave one so here we are. That being said Having only have been to this establishment one other time and didn't care for the prices or the food quality, finally heard that just recently they started serving all you can eat for 35 and change and I figured I'd give it another shot. I was fine with the price until my significant other and I went to go have lunch. Later to be informed that both parties have to order the all you can eat if one does which is ridiculous if one doesn't eat sushi what so ever. With that being said I'll take an extra 20 minute drive to sushi Yama in Brandon to save 15 dollars knowing that I can order the all you can eat and she can order from the regular menu alls while knowing that the food is exceptionally delicious and good at sushi Yama in Brandon. read more

After a morning of horseback riding at a nearby park, we stopped that this shopping center for ramen, sushi and sake! We got there right around opening and were the first customers. They greeted us right away and told us to pick any table. The server came out and took our order pretty quickly. It was nice and dark and very quiet inside. Our food took about 25-30 minutes but when it came out it was very well presented. We literally ate everything up. I wish I could remember the name of the two ramens--but one had crispy crunchy chicken and the other had ground pork. Both had wonderful flavor. The sushi was all very good too. I had the cold lychee sake and they bring you a small bottle which was nice because I didn't finish it and was able to take it with me. FYI: my wife and I love to visit sushi restaurants. We have enjoyed sushi once a week now for about 20 years all over the country. We visited Sage at least 6 times over a year, "when we are in town". This is one of our favorite places... The chef is Brian, he has been involved with the sushi restaurant business since childhood. The first thing we noticed is the sushi is extremely fresh, you know sweet & buttery.!! Brian is generous with his cuts, just like you're family. Presentation is very important to him, like an artist.. They do offer Sake, Wine, and Beer. The menu has a great verity of dishes, salads, sushi, and sushi rolls. there are also non-sushi dishes for those who haven't dove into the sushi waters yet.. I do not eat sushi so I've had their hibachi or noodle options. Everything was tasty and fresh. We had a party of six we ordered Ramen and sushi and the hibachi shrimp. The service was very bad . There were only two tables that were occupied plus ours. I asked the server four times and she gave me a glass of ice never received it. Actually my wife had to go and ask the sushi chef for ice. The Ramen was horrible. a family member told me about this place a few weeks ago. First off, I drove by the place two other times looking for it and passed right by because there are two signs, one for nails and one for sushi. The place was completely empty (between 4:30 & 6:00pm) when I walked in and I was greeted by a young lady asking if I had placed a to-go order. I told her no I was looking to place an order and eat; she handed me a menu that I skimmed through and I settled on the chicken hibachi with a salad and a soda, which were cans. I was shocked at the price, but paid and asked to sit at a table to wait hoping the amount of food would be worth the price. The wait was acceptable for what was being prepared; it was very quiet & relaxing wait since I was the only person there and it only took about ten to fifteen minutes before the young lady brought me a to-go bag... which I opened and ate at the table; two sections filled with rice and the main section with veggies & chicken; the salad was in a separate container. The was also a little cup of yum yum sauce and a small cup of (guessing) sesame dressing for the salad. The hibachi itself was very good...chicken, mushrooms, zucchini, onions & carrots; the salad, even with the dressing was very plain and bland. I left a 20% tip just for the food because it was good, but don't see myself going back...slightly over $30, including the tip, for one person is a little ridiculous! I could have driven to a steakhouse and had a good ribeye for that cost. read more

I'm starting off with a 4 star review as 3 is too low but they have not yet reached a five. First it's a really nice place very well laid out with a Mr Myogi house kind of vibe with the wood accents in and between the booths. The servers are friendly and there are some good menu choices and hopefully I will be back to sample more. The Yellow Tail sashimi was nice and fresh and sliced very well. The Gyoza dumplings were fair as half were just lukewarm and the dipping sauce lacked any real kick. The Chicken Udon noddles was fairly bland not much in the way of any defining taste. The Tan Tan Men was good, lots of noodles and ground pork with a flavorful broth. Since we ordered these two main dishes together was kind of put off that the Udon came out first and 10 minutes more for the Tan Tan. That kind of throws off the dinner vibe some. I'm liking this so far and hope that as they go the experiences will improve. read more

Hubby and I tried this new Sushi restaurant for the first time last night. We ordered our meal as take out. I ordered the Philadelphia Roll, Shrimp Hibachi with the Ginger Salad. Hubby ordered the California roll, Chicken Hibachi with Ginger salad. To start we would have preferred they packaged our rolls separately, but not a deal breaker. My Philadelphia roll was really good. Nice size pieces of sushi, an even amount of salmon vs cream cheese. They provided a lot of ginger slivers which I truly appreciated. One of my favorite dishes from sushi restaurants is the Ginger Salad. Even though the Ginger Dressing tastes really good, I did not care for it accompanied by what I believe was a Spring Mix salad. With the Ginger dressing it was very bitter to my taste. My Hibachi Shrimp was flavorful, the rice was well cooked and tasty, the shrimps were plum and had great flavor along with the vegetables. Hubby said he enjoyed his meal as well except for the lettuce choice to go along with the Ginger dressing. Over all food was good will try again. Next time will dine in and try some other dishes. read more

A June the Raccoon Review ***** Sage Sushi Lounge***** Over in Sun City in the very corner of the Home Depot shopping center is a brand new little gem, Sage Sushi Lounge. It was a diner before that I visited a handful of times in the past, but it has new life in it now! The space is a decent size, the floor plan now open. The interior design is clean and simple but welcoming. There are 6 enclosed booths in the center with tables all around and of course a pristine white sushi bar you can choose to sit at. The walls are bare but they are just screaming for some beautiful Japanese murals, so I am hopeful they have plans for that in the future, hint hint! It wasn't at all busy on a Saturday night which tells me many people have yet to discover it. We were sat and attended to right away by friendly staff who were happy to have us there. We started our order with ice waters and the tempura shrimp appetizer. They don't quite yet have their beer and wine license, but I was told they would later this month. The Shrimp tempura was very crisp and delicious. Not at all greasy. My only complaint here is I think for the price, the portion size could be a little larger. Next up we had Miso Soup which was hot and satisfying. Finally we shared the Hulk Roll, an avocados lovers dream, the standard Philly Roll and the Rocknroll, my new favorite. The Rocknroll is a spicy tuna, crab, cream cheese and avocado roll that is all wrapped up in spring roll paper and fried crisp. It is outstanding! I'm eager to try the Apollo Beach Roll next time I go there. All the rolls were very fresh and beautifully made. We were pleasantly surprised at the reasonableness of the bill when it arrived and we throughly enjoyed everything about the meal and service. I think this restaurant is a wonderful addition to our area and I hope to see it stay. I am giving it 5 cookies on my cookie rating system! read more

We decided to try Sage Sushi Lounge for lunch on Friday. It was a problem to find this business. The shopping center has a sign for Sage far from their location. We circled the entire plaza several times, but couldn't find the business. Finally we spotted the sign from a distance high up on the building in the back corner. Sage really needs to add a sign on or near their door that can be seen at eye level. We ordered a shrimp appetizer and 2 raw sushi rolls. Our favorite sushi places is very tiny and crowded, so the amount of dining space at Sage makes it more likely that we will return and try them again. Prices were OK, but they may be high for Sun City Center. (Yes I know that it is actually in Ruskin just outside SCC.) Nice atmosphere and design, almost too large, parking spaces far from the door, no booze, carryout may be a good option. read more

The interior has a wooden deco theme which gives it a hip vibe. Service was phenomenon and attentive. I ordered a lot more than what what I posted but the food was so good, I forgot. OH MY GOSH!!!!! This is easily the best sushi restaurant I have been to in over 10 years! Started with Ginger Salad, Crab Rangoon (a MUST have) and the Spring Rolls. They were OUTSTANDING! Then I had the RockNRoll roll and my husband had the sushi/sashimi platter. These dishes were simply amazing! We will definitely be regulars at this wonderful establishment.
