Almost all of the options are good. It's difficult to choose a bad dish here. The beef dishes are good, as are the chicken, most of the seafood, appetizers and lo mein are all safe bets. Out of habit I go for General Tso Chicken or Mongolian Beef while my wife goes for a seafood or beef. Their lo mein and fried rice are always a great side or on their own. I have yet to have an awful dish, but I would really, really like to see a small expansion of the menu to include dan dan, Hong Kong or meifun dishes. read more

The food was fresh and delicious and the service was very good. Robert my young server was extra polite if I was his parent I would be proud of him. The sesame chicken lunch combo did not taste fresh. I saw them take fried chicken pieces and throw them in a wok in order to toss the chicken with the sauce. The meat was flavorless and had a strange texture. The rice was hard in places, and also didn't seem fresh. The eggroll tasted like a frozen eggroll from the freezer section of the grocery store. The lunch special costed me almost 10.00, and I only ate three bites, just enough to discover that none of it was edible. The restaurant looked disheveled, but from experience I have learned that some of the best tasting Chinese food comes out of hole-in-the wall places. This was not the case for this restaurant. The young man who took my order was very sweet and polite. He is obviously bilingual because he took my order with perfect English and then hollered the order out to an older gentleman in a different language. I am always impressed with bilingual people. I have been on the financial struggle bus for quite sometime, and eating out for lunch is not a frequent treat for me, therefore I was super disappointed. I ordered take-out and they give plenty of food for under $10 to be exact 8.79 plus tax and that includes Roast pork fried rice, Veg egg roll (huge), fried crab Rangoon, chicken wing, choice of soup (Wonton, Egg drop, Hot & Soup and one of the dinner entree. Don't judge a book by its cover! Ms Tracy and her husband are wonderful cooks and people. The former owners gave this place a bad name but please if u have ever eat here before Tracy bought it give it another try. Hands down the best tasting Chinese food around. The first time I ate here, I thought, "Alright! I've finally found a good Chinese restaurant in Bristol!" Then, after I ate here twice more I wanted to curse God and die (can you tell I've been reading in the Old Testament?). I'm not going back. Here's why: This place is filthy, nasty, dirty, any word you can think of for GROSS. The kitchen, which you have a clear view into from the counter, is not only messy but incredibly cluttered. Seriously, is there a restaurant version of Hoarders? If so, these people would qualify. Service is incredibly slow. I called my order in and though I was told 15 minutes, I didn't have my food until closer to the 45 minute mark. There's a significant language barrier, so expect complications with your order. Yesterday, I got General Tso's chicken, which came with fried rice, wonton soup, and an egg roll. I also added crab rangoon because I'd had good ones there before. However, they were soaked with grease and I had to dab it all off before I could eat them. Also, the chicken was overcooked and difficult to chew, and while the rice was pretty good it was a tad salty for my taste. Lastly, I've gotten a headache every time I've eaten here, which makes me think they probably use MSG even though they say they don't. I'd really like to have a good Chinese restaurant nearby, but sadly, this place is not it. read more

I'm not terribly picky about cheap takeout Chinese, so when I saw a recent negative review I assumed the author was a serious Asian food snob. And besides, there are so few Chinese places in Far SWVA it was worth checking out, right? Wrong. I wish I'd heeded the warning. My seven year old complained about how salty the egg drop soup was. This is not usual. She wants to oversalt everything at home. Then she complained about how gel-like the overwhelming amount of sauce was on her Sesame Chicken. I had to agree. On investigation, my General's Chicken had identical sauce, except there were some dried chili flakes mixed into mine and some sesame seeds sprinkled on hers. It was not a good sauce. The fried chicken chunks were heavily breaded and low quality. You know something is wrong when I'm going for a mouthful of pork fried rice just to get a better taste in my mouth. On the plus side, the sole chef in the place at 1:15 PM was courteous and prompt. He gave us freebie fried breads for dessert. I suspect he was just happy to have dine-in customers at all. read more

I always preferred China Sun for Chinese in Bristol. They have a new cook and she really makes a mean fried rice! It's so much better than it used to be. I have to have it once a week I like it so much. The crab Rangoon is great and the Cantonese chicken is also a fave. Don't go for shrimp sauce....they have it but it's not good and I'd guess that because that's a Japanese food. Go to Sakura for that! I had 1 problem there in all 5 years of going there and it was immediately corrected. Great staff, too. Always very nice. read more

Ordered from door dash today and when my food got here the Lo Mein noodles were soggy and lacking of flavor, the won ton soup smelled gross and had no flavor as well and the noodles just fell apart. I ordered a regular Mello Yello with my order and they were out of that...which is fine, but if i order a regular Mello Yello and they don't have any then why substitute it with a diet Mountain Dew lol? I never complain on restaurants because things happen and I'm not one to go out of my way to tear down a restaurants reputation. Just ordered food delivered to the Hampton Inn in Bristol. It took about 40 minutes from phone call to delivery at our room. The man who delivered the food was extremely nice, and he gave us some fried sweet donut things free. The won ton soup was delicious and arrived hot. My husband had the sweet and sour pork. He said the pork was very good, but he didn't care for the sauce, which he thought was too thin and not enough "sour" to balance the sweet. But the pork was cooked well. I ordered the moo goo guy pan, because it's a dish that every Chinese restaurant makes differently, and I'm always curious to tr it.. In fact, China Sun's version was very good -- light sauce, nice seasoning, and (best of all) full of vegetables Really it was one of the best moo goo gui pan's I've ever had, and I've eaten in lots of Chinese restaurants. If you want state of the art food, you can spend $100 pp and go to a big city Chinatown for dim sum. But for dinner for two, free dessert, delivered to your door for under $20, this place was a great deal and perfectly fine food. read more

The only good thing about the meal was the Dasani water they gave me. I ordered pepper steak and my dad got the BBQ spare ribs. The complimentary chicken wing we got was cold, the steak barely had any flavor and had NO pepper, and I tried his ribs and had to spit it out. Nothing about their ribs tastes like BBQ or meat! It was in some kind of sweet sauce and I'm not positive if it was even meat. I called in an order at 7:30 told the woman (3 times) I was at the Holiday Inn Express. 45 minutes later I called and was told the food was on its way. More then an hour went by when they called me to let me know my food wasn't coming. They messed up the address, and were not willing to remake the food and get it to me. We were pleasantly surprised because the previous reviews were not so favorable, We ordered for pick-up and we arrived on time and the food was still hot, very tasty and fresh when we got back to our hotel. I was not happy at all with this restaurant. I ordered chicken fried rice, schewan chicken, curry chicken and beef broccoli. The only item that tasted half way decent was the beef broccoli. All of the other dishes were truly nasty tasting. I called to complain about the food quality and the woman promptly told me all the chicken was cooked fresh in the morning. I ordered my food at 8:30 at night, so that means the chicken was not fresh. She refused to talk any more to me so she hung up. I put all the food back into the bags and drove to the restaurant to either get fresh replacements or a refund. After explaining my unhappiness with the food the owners finally replaced my food with fresh cooked food. I am only giving the restaurant a one star because they finally gave me fresh food that was cooked fresh and was not left over reheated cooked chicken from the morning. read more

China Sun is the worst Chinese Food that I have ever eaten- that says it all. I love Chinese cuisine, but China Sun is terrible. The Kung Pao Chicken was terrible, the Hot and Sour Soup was worse. How do you ruin Hot and Sour Soup? The soup was super thick, over thickened with corn starch and the flavor, color, an consistency didn't even approach a mediocre Hot and Sour Soup. The Kung Pao tasted terrible, full of big carrot chunks, too thick, lacked flavor was an awful attempt at Kung Pao. BTW, the restaurant was dirty and unsanitary. Just say no!! read more

I just ordered food from here today, first of all let me start out by saying, the delivery driver was rude as can be. He knocked on our door and when we took longer than a minute to answer, told me "Its too cold out here for me to wait for you to answer your door". He then angrily told me my total, I handed him my money. If you are rude, do not expect a tip. He then hands me a container that says "gift" and proceeds to tell me he gave me $3 free. Big whoop considering I just handed him $22 for an order of sweet and sour chicken and a $5 lunch special. How that added up to $22 is beyond me. I take my food inside and discover the white rice I ordered is in fact brown rice, not white. I call the store to complain, the woman that answers proceeds to argue with me and then HANGS UP ON ME! What kind of customer service is that? The food was extremely greasy and we wound up throwing most of it to our dog. We eat at this place a lot, until today. We are disgusted and will NEVER order from here again. Sorry China Sun, you just lost very loyal customers. DO NOT eat here. Go to Shanghai. read more
