The most chintzy, mediocre Chinese since someone suggested Szechuan Taste at the beltway and 695, and that was a few years ago. No, this place does not have the best Chinese food in the area or even decent food. Hyperbole aside, nothing tasted great here, portions were small, quality is marginal and even the ice cream was awful. And just like my bad experience at the Szechuan Taste ( they must be related), the same joke continues here with the signature triple junk plate of spring roll, rubiks cube shrimp toast, and Rangoon thingy wad which does not make up for, or equal, one decent egg roll. This is by far, the worst Chinese food I have had in my entire life!!!! Seriously. All of the food was bland, the Chow Mein was chicken and luttuce soup, ZERO noodles. The broth's (or whatever it really is) consistency was like runny clear jello. Orange Chicken and Chicken & Broccoli were equally runny and bland. Wow, this place is so good. My husband and I went the day we got married, for lunch, but that was years ago. I don't know why we never went back. Well, the other night, we went back. I've only tried their Japanese menu, and my husband has only tried their Chinese menu. He had shrimp fried rice that looked just about perfect--not too greasy, lots of vegetables, topped with a few bean sprouts, and lots of big, fat shrimp. My miso soup was some of the best I've ever had. It had lots of seaweed, which I love, and lots of miso. I also had a number of vegetable sushi rolls and some seaweed salad. My favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. The service is always great and the people working there are very friendly. The food is the main reason I go there. I have never had a bad meal there. I usually go for lunch between 11-3 and you can get a great deal for around $5 or less. I really enjoyed the shrimp dishes. They are spiced nicely and the shrimp is a nice size. You can stay there and drink the tea and talk with your friends and family and no one will bother you. It is a little gem in a small shopping center in Perry Hall that is worth trying. And the best part is you get so much food you will have leftovers for later....or take them to work the next day and make everyone jealous as you fill the lunch room with such a mouth watering smell. Price of the sashimi dinner is good since it comes with seaweed salad and miso soup but buyers beware, It was disgusting. Tuna was not fresh, it seemed previously frozen. They exchanged it for some salmon which was only okay. There is also imitation crab meat being passed off as sashimi. I will not come back for sushi. BTW, I have been ordering Chinese take out from China Taste for years. Why can't we get a good and affordable sushi place in Perry Hall. Ugh! read more

The sushi is really good. They always go out of their way to make mine and my wife's dining experience feel like we are VIP. They even invited us to their Chinese New Year celebration with off the menu food buffet style at no charge since we were guests at their private party. This restaurant has recently changed ownership and the changes are quite evident. After about 3 trips here I feel confident recommending this place. The dinner specials come with soup and an appetizer sampling of three individual pieces. This is a great idea and great value. I feel the food has been competitively priced, nicely cooked and complimented by prompt friendly service. Worst dining experience of my entire life! I never complain about food service, I never send my food back, but this place was the exception. I ordered Kung Pao shrimp and when it arrived it was nothing but a huge plate of water chestnuts with four or five shrimp. I have such a problem with complaining about my food I just decided "fine, my mistake for ordering it, I'll pick out what I want and it will be fine" well I ate two shrimp and a few peanuts and one or two water chestnuts before I couldn't take the sour disgusting sauce (which I'm pretty sure is supposed to have some kind of spice in it) then I sat there a few more minutes before having to run to the bathroom to vomit up what I had eaten. After that I decided to say something, so I called the waitress over to our table and explained simply that the food wasn't good, I didn't ask her for anything before she said "well people love it, they order it all the time" then I got a little defensive and said "well the food made me sick and it's nothing but water chestnuts" met back with "that's how kung pao always is" not true. Finally I asked to speak to manager because I couldn't take her attitude anymore and was told no I had to deal with her. I finally just said "look I'm not paying for something that made me sick" and got her to take it off the menu. And it wasn't just my food, my grandmothers shrimp were tough and undercooked and my grandfathers food was incredibly salty. They've lost my business for life, I wish I could give zero stars. read more

I used to think this was the best Chinese restaurant because the flavors of the food are tongue tingling but I have ordered food from here way too many times that was way too salty. The chicken noodle soup is at times impossible to even eat because of the salt in it. Even the fried rice has been salty. I've also had other dishes that were way too salty. When I called the woman who runs the restaurant told me that this is the way they always season their food and if I want it to be less salty I have to request low salt. When I did request low salt the food lacked taste. Once my family and I ordered 50 dollars worth of food from her and after getting it delivered we couldnt even eat it. They were however nice enough to credit us for some of the food the next time around but all of that food was wasted. We had to end up trying to boil the salt out of some of it. I have never known a Chinese restaurant that uses that much salt. The beauty of Chinese food is thst it isn't as salty as American fare and you can season it yourself with a little soy sauce. No need for soy sauce here. The sad part is that you see mostly seniors eating here during the week. This isn't healthy. If you have high blood pressure or any sort of health issues you may really want to think twice before eating here. read more

I've been coming to China Taste for years. It's a nice quiet place where you can carry on a conversation. They have tables, booths, and even have areas for larger groups. They have Chinese food as well as Sushi. I don't eat Sushi, but what I've seen come from the Sushi Bar side to the dining room looks pretty good. I like their Szechuan Beef, and they have it two ways. Regular Szechuan style as well as Crispy Szechuan Beef. tonight I got a combination plate. $11.95 get you a choice of soup (I got wonton), a spring roll, a piece of shrimp toast, a crab wonton, chicken fried rice and an entree. I got the regular szechuan beef. I ordered it spicy, after all isn't that the point of szechuan? It was a decent portion had great flavor and a good amount of beef in addition to the carrot, celery, onion and some mung been sprouts. the brown sauce was not heavy and well spiced. You also get your choice of ice cream or sherbet and a fortune cookie. The food was well paced so you didn't have to hurry or wait for the next course. The waitress was friendly and kept the timing of the food just right. The water glass was never empty. I couldn't eat the rice so I asked for it to be wrapped up. The bag with the rice also included some wonton soup and a few fortune cookies. A nice touch! I've tried other entrees and have never been disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised with the food at China Taste. I've lived in the area for 4 years and have never been, we usually do the same place over and over, but they always have a wait on Saturday. The first thing I noticed was the outdated interior of the restaurant, it could really use a face lift. Other than that, we were impressed.
