My son and I went to Chinatown yesterday after a long time. The Lady behind the counter i think the owner? Was not very friendly, had an attitude as soon as we walked in. Lady. I wanted to be fair, so I have intentionally waited until we have been here three visits. We have gone for lunch each time. The first was while in a hotel when we first arrived in June to move into our "forever home" in Staunton (about 10 miles away). We went again a month or so after moving in. We went today (Sunday lunch) because we wanted to pick up a few things at Walmart. Understand where I (we) are coming from. My wife spent her childhood in Hawaii, and her father is Japanese. I am an Army veteran, and have been to plenty of Asian restaurants around the world. I do have a tough standard. I am sincerely not trying to punch down. I want this place to be good, it would be better for my retirement years for it to be good. It is the closest option for buffet. Our Staunton option is a menu only, and it is also not a good option, at all. I understand that a place needs to cater to its patrons to be profitable. I am not saying they don't try, I'm not saying they don't care. I do understand that americanized and (bland) is what they need to lean into. Our lunch today was $40 and we both left unsatisfied. I am willing to eat anything and have the girth to prove it. My wife is a bit more particular, but certainly has the ability to provide a decent value judgement on the things she chooses. There just are not consistently good choices to be had here. The "sushi" for example is marginal at best. There are more breaded/fried items than truly exist in Asian menus at other places I have been. The other items almost always have a sauce that is salt and sugar forward. There are very few spices/textures that I would expect from a Chinese menu. It is relatively clean, the people working here do try to do a good job. I appreciate the effort required to put all this together for us. It has the standard Chinese restaurant decorations (I think there is a kit that can be ordered from somewhere), but they haven't overdone it. I do understand and accept that people like this place, and appreciate the offerings. I am in no way looking down on their preference, [To each their Own] and please continue to enjoy it. If you are however, just passing through, it may not be the best stop for good Chinese food, okay "food" sure, but not on par with other options I have enjoyed. read more

Thumbs up! The hotel guy suggested this place and we are satisfied. The food is hot and delicious. There is a hibachi and sushi area if that's what you're looking for. The place is clean and nice inside. The thing I want to highlight is the service! The wait staff kept our table clear of dirty dishes and my water glass was topped off numerous times. We've been going here for awhile now and it is always a hit and miss if the visit was worth it. Sometimes everything is spot on and incredible but other times everything has been sitting for awhile and old. They typically tend to have the usual same dishes out with no deviation from them. It's very hard to pinpoint the best time to go and get the best food. Over the years the quality of everything has diminished. They have over the past year decreased their plate sizes available and changed their silverware as well. The servers there are always kind and taking plates from the table throughout the meal and checking to see when you need a refill and ready for your check. They usually try to eat you close together with others and sections within the buffet. The price seems very fair for an all-you-can-eat buffet. This time the only things that were fresh were the Pepsi and when we were keeping an eye out for fresh Chinese Donuts (that weren't hard as a rock). Otherwise everything we had had been sitting out for a while. We will always come back here just wish more times we were luckier with fresher food when we go! read more

Does china food ever taste different. NO. NEVER. I've eaten Chinese from coast to coast and It only slightly varies in taste so my criteria is a little different. So my review will be more about the following. This is one of the better places to eat Chinese. The price is reasonable. The selection is plentiful. The establishment is very clean and they keep the food well stocked. The dishes are all done very well considering that it's no different from the many many I've had. I enjoyed it and will come back. Such a blessed experience. The only thing I would say is I wish the buffet had less options and they were better. Like, if they only gave me a couple things and they were cooked fresh that would be a cool way to eat that a buffet should explore. It wouldn't even have to be all-you-can-eat. We stopped on our way from St. Louis to Chicago. It was an easy on , easy off Rte 55. It was very popular for its buffet which did look fresh even at 8:00 pm on Sunday night.still we ordered off the menu since I didn't want to risk stomach complications. I don't know if this is typical Midwestern "Chinese" fare but they had ketchup and steak sauce on all the tables. Their "duck" sauce had ketchup in it. When I asked for siracha, Thai chili or hot mustard they brought me packets of hot sauce. Hot tea was served in a coffee mug with a tea bag. We started with a white hostess that might as well have been a robot. No smile. No friendly greeting. I cant imagine employing such a person to greet and seat customers. Although it does try to appeal to a wide variety of tastes and may come off as bland to some, there's plenty of opportunity for you to add your own spices, sauces, etc. if you want to kick up the heat a little bit! We give Chinatown a 5 as a Chinese buffet goes. The buffet is always full, clean, and fresh. They have a decent selection of items. I can eat there even while I'm practicing Keto. Visited: August 1st, 2011 I went to this restaurant with my boyfriend and his friend Petey on the third day of our trip. After shopping at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Litchfield, IL, we were pretty hungry because we didn't eat breakfast. Petey suggested Chinatown because it was in the same area and he said the food was good and cheap. When we walked in, I was amazed on how nice and clean the place was. The buffet selection was good and tasty. I got some fried rice, crab rangoons, and general tso's chicken. I also got some fruit. The honey chicken that my boyfriend and his friend got tasted better though. Our server was so nice and brought us our beverages promptly. When we got the bill, it was just a little over $20 for three people + one soft drink (my boyfriend was the only one that got it) + tax. How sweet is that!!! Most of the Chinese buffets in San Diego cost more than that and the food isn't nearly as tasty. Kudos to Chinatown for some awesome food! :) read more

Usually when we come here the food is decent, as is the service. Today has been by far the worst experience. From the beginning our waiter was super short with us. He would not address or answer my children (they are age 9,9,6, and 1). When my 9 year old son asked for a drink that they didn't have, Sprite, the waiter looks at my mother in law and says "Sierra mist". Like, I'm pretty sure my son can answer for himself... Then as I am up filling my plate, I see one of the workers putting her finger in several foods. Apparently the heater on the middle row is not working... It has been at least half an hour since she 'discovered' that the heaters weren't working. The food is still there, people are still eating it, and it is steady getting colder. I came here because it was recommended by a local. I did not think it was anything special when compared to other Chinese buffets. They had a good selection along with sushi. I'm not one for buffets, so I didn't each much while here. Honestly, if some one else was paying, I'd come here again. Online it says they are open until 9:30. The door says 9:00. We arrived at 7:10. The waitress was rude, obviously trying to rush us. The food wasn't being replenished and numerous things were empty. There were two waitresses (one being our's) sitting at the table next to our's using their phones most of the time we were there. We were brought the check while we were still eating and a few minutes later the waitress came back to ask if we were ready to pay yet. Before 8 o'clock the kitchen staff came out with a trash can on wheels and went down the rows of food and dumped everything into the trashcan. All you can eat buffets typically keep food out until all of the customers are finished eating and the restaurant closes. Dumping it out 1/2 hour before closing in front lot of customers who are still eating is pretty rude. read more

This place is as good as it gets. All of the food tastes amazing, and it is definitely worth the price. They have a wide variety of foods to choose from and it's easy to both dine in and to take out. They have also have really good service, the waiter frequently came around to check up on us. Sushi, shrimp, mussels, black pepper chicken, cheese steak rolls, etc. How they can serve all of that for lunch (all you can eat) for under $8.00 is beyond me. Decent stuff for a Chinese buffet in the relatively small town of Litchfield. Buffet prices for lunch are 7 and dinner is closer to 10. Most of the food if pretty good, and I was surprised that their sushi was fairly decent. The speed at which the food is replenished is also pretty fast during peak hours, so it's fairly freshly cooked stuff. However, some of their stuff is there for ages, and I wouldn't recommend trying your luck. It's been sitting there since the beginning of dinner service for a reason... That being said, for someone going for dinner and paying close to 10 bucks, I would expect a bit more quality in the food. Would've given 5 stars if I'd went for lunch I guess. There's a lot of good places to eat in Litchfield, but if you're craving either Chinese or want to binge, this place is it. read more

The first time we went here, the service, food, atmosphere was wonderful. Today, I brought the whole family, paying around $75. The servers refilled 1 drink out of 6, cleared the dirty plates only when there were a couple stacked for 10 min or more and they were watching the table so the minute we stood up, they could clean it. It was around 4pm and the place maybe had 6 tables with customers. VERY disappointed and probably won't go back. We politely requested another table and she acted like we took her firstborn.
