    39. Chicken Chow Mein

I specifically downloaded this app to write this review. this was one of the worst food experiences I've ever had. I took one bite and I couldn't take another. The chicken was cold, not even the soy sauce helped. The only thing good out of this meal was the plain white rice they gave on the side. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Definitely need my money back, if not more... Is this the color of what chow mein is supposed to be?

The sauces are unusually glossy and light and not a goopy mess that can come with some Chinese takeout.

The space is huge for a walking-mall restaurant, with several dozen tables and booths. Music is nice background not overly loud. Service was absolutely excellent and food came out within minutes. Empty dishes picked up within seconds. We ordered an appetizer of crab rangoon. It came to us hot and tasty but to be honest it had little to no fake crab in it. That was a little disappointing. For our mains I had chicken stir fried noodles and pork soup dumplings. When it was put in front of me I thought the noodles looked like a smallish portion but this turned out not to be the case -- the dish was more than adequate and very nicely composed. I enjoyed every bit of it but barely finished it. The soup dumplings were umami-on-a-spoon. Served in a steam basket, these were very warm and the broth inside was just perfect. I thought it was a tad salty, my wife disagreed. And since it was her main course and not mine, I will bow to her opinion. This was a nice casual meal, especially for the price. If you go, do not pass up the opportunity to walk up to the bao station and watch the food being made. Our server encouraged us to do this, and it was really interesting, and the staff doesn't seem to mind the attention!

For appetizer I got the cream cheese rangoons which were pretty good, just very cream cheese heavy. The BEST thing I tried was definitely the orange chicken. It is seriously one of the best I have tried. It is crunchy, flavorful, and so delicious, especially with their spicy crunchy oil on top. I could honestly come back just for that. The orange chicken from Ugly Dumpling is absolutely amazing!!!!! I was recommended the orange chicken by my server who was very kind and attentive!! Also, I got the noodles with spicy sauce which weren't super spicy but still tasty and I tried the veggie bao buns for the first time and really enjoyed them! Overall great food, and I will definitely keep coming back.

I had only planned on spending $60 or so but ended up spending $140 including a great tip for my waiter. I got the Fried Chicken Banh Mi, Dan Dan Noodles, and my guest ordered the Brisket Pho, and Singapore noodles alongside a Mojito and their coconut ice cube drink (blanking on the name). I loved every bite of my food. The Daikon Radish was the highlight of the Banh Mi and I was in love with every bite. Visibly dancing and gleaming with joy while eating + the great music being played also helped. I didn't eat my sandwich until it got cold as I like to finish a dish before trying another. I started with the Dan Dan noodles and had to drink 3 of the liters of water by myself to finish my meal . I took my guest's peppers and my peppers and crushed them up into my Dan Dan plate with all the seeds that came with them. In addition I also used all the chili oil paste it came with as well. It was so damn great I enjoyed every second. My guest loved their pho and didn't stop eating it and ate half of their Singapore noodles before getting full and having to take it home. They absolutely loved their drinks and it was so fun to watch the bartender make the drinks. Two shakers in hand mixing the drinks and oh boy were they strong . We will definitely be back!!! Oh and they also had chopsticks for us to use and we ate our entire meal with them. I knew I was in for a whirlwind of flavor when the ethnicities of the cooks matched the restaurant and patrons of color from Pakistani, Black, Indian, Korean, Thai, and more were dining in . Only downsides for me personally were the Singapore noodles but it wasn't my dish. I tasted them and didn't think they were for me I usually prefer a different ratio of seasoning for my Singapore noodles. My guest whose favorite dish is Singapore noodles quite adored them. Though they did say the Singapore noodles I make at home are better they still crushed it and the next morning woke up and crushed the rest with a smile on the face . Only thing I didn't like was the pho but that's my personal taste getting in the way. I don't like fish based broths but my guest ate every single last dropped and loved it! So if that's your alley go for it!!! 10/10 will try again!!! P.S. please tip the staff graciously they work so hard. If you're going to order a $100 worth of food don't be the person not tipping or tipping $10 when the service was excellent. Yes tipping cultures shouldn't exist but until they're paid a fair wage please continue to do so. I really hope this restaurant doesn't sell out like other restaurants (En Su Boca )

I thought the spicy cauliflower was yummy. The cauliflower was tossed in a gochujang sauce with a light crunchy batter. My partner thought the cauliflower was a bit bland. The serving of the appetizer was quite large for two people, we couldn't finish it all. I ordered the curry laksa. I usually stray away from coconut based curries because they tend to be too sweet, but I enjoyed this curry. The base is creamy and balances well with the savory/tangy flavors, and the veggies are fresh. The server brought out chili crisp upon request. The kung pao tofu glaze was a bit on the sweeter side and not as good. The sweet glaze on fried tofu made it taste almost like a French toast. Overall, a decent asian fusion spot to stop by for lunch or dinner.

The entryway is interesting and provides some shelter from the rain, allowing you to manage your umbrella before entering. We were seated within seconds, and our server, Liza, came by very promptly with some water for our table. I felt slightly anxious at first, being that we were in a cozy two-top amongst the fray, but it subsided quickly because everyone was respectful and reasonably quiet. We ordered the veggie spring rolls to start, and I had the Chinatown Ramen, and my partner had the Chicken Fried Noodles. The appetizer was hot, savory, and spicy with the duck sauce and hot mustard mixture. If you like milder sauce, do not mix it. The entrees came out within five or so minutes of the appetizers, which seemed quick for a busy night. The ramen was spicy, hot, and filling. I was only able to finish about half. We will be enjoying those leftovers tonight. My partner said that her noodles and chicken were well-seasoned and delicious, too. Looking around the restaurant, it is clear that they support the local LGBTQ+ community, and it is even labeled as a Safe Space on the beautifully manicured, makeshift chalkboard/menu/posting board. The clientele and staff alike seemed warm and kind, based solely on limited interactions and observation on my part. If you are looking for a traditional American-Chinese food restaurant (think buffet-style items), this is likely not the place for you. There were no mishaps or snafus with our orders. Liza performed her duties well, and I can surely recommend this restaurant to anyone who doesn't mind a mix of Japanese and Chinese cuisine.

I noticed a discrepancy between the amount on my receipt and what was actually charged to my card. It may have only been a small difference, but that's not acceptable under any circumstance. A dollar here or there adds up, and it raises real concerns when it appears to be a pattern. I had intentionally left a cash tip to ensure it went directly to my server, not through the business. Fortunately, I kept my receipt after hearing about similar situations happening before. When my statement came in, the charge didn't match. I called the restaurant to resolve the issue, and the floor manager said someone from management or accounting would follow up. Over a week later, I never received a call. I ended up disputing the charge with my bank. What should have been a nice Friday night dinner ended on a frustrating note. Unfortunately, that's what made the experience memorable--and not in a good way.
