So I searched and searched and visited daycares. All of them either too pricy or sketchy, or just felt like a business. Not at all what you get at Gateway. The first moment I visited the site, I was greeted by Miss Stella, very assuring that my child would be safe in their care, she asked if I was looking for someone or looking for enrollment. I could feel the mother lion in her demeanor! I know my child would be in a very safe space, and a safe place it very much was. I could see how the staff, teachers and director would greet my son, and myself include after the first visit. The price here cannot be beat, and with that said, you can never put a price on the type of love and care they provide the children at Gateway Academy. Ms V and Ms O are my sons teachers at 1 yr old now, and I could never think of changing to another day care based on how I see they treat and teach my son here. It is a beautiful place for children to grow and assimilate into a social learning environment. Thank you Miss Stella for making a daycare feel like a second home for my son. I cannot recommend this place enough, if you have a newborn coming or currently looking for your toddler, look no further if you live in the area (or 30min away) because this is it.

Your child will recieve homework in preschool and now my daughter is more than prepared for kindergarten. I wish I could shout out every teacher there bc they have all been there for my daughter in one way or another. She is always excited to tell me about her day. I always feel like the main concern is my daughter's safety. I know how hard it is to leave your baby in someone else's care and I truly recommend Gateway for that reason. The staff is extremely responsive especially when incidents occur, Im always in the loop with my child's behavior while she is there. Can't thank Ms Stella and Mr Robert enough for always been there for me with all my "silly" questions or concerns :) They offer summer care and after-school care as well which is extremely helpful for me as a full-time working mom. Leaving your baby in someone else's care for the first time can be such a scary experience, and I had so many worries. But Ms. Martha gave me so much confidence from the beginning. She is an incredible teacher. She is always attentive to my baby and to all of the babies in the classroom. She stays on top of their feedings, diaper changes, and keeps everything documented. But what I appreciate most is that she doesn't just take care of their basic needs. She takes the time to play with them, sing to them, interact with them, and do activities with them. You can truly see the love and effort she puts into caring for them. She also communicates so well with me as a mom. If my baby doesn't eat as well as usual, does something new, or if there is anything I should know, whether it's something good or something I might have questions about, she always makes sure to let me know. I really appreciate that because I never leave wondering how my baby's day went. I always go home happy and without doubts or worries about how my baby was cared for that day, and that feeling means everything to me. My baby has also learned so many wonderful things since starting daycare. She has become such a happy, social, and interactive baby, and it makes me so happy to see her growing and learning in such a positive environment. From the moment my husband first dropped off, I knew they were in good hands. The staff is incredibly loving, nurturing, and genuinely passionate about what they do. One of the things I appreciated most was the transparency, I could always check in and see how my son was doing. But honestly, I never worried because I knew they were safe, loved, and thriving. we notice our toddler evolving his personality. this was the first time our toddler was attending to "daycare" as he was raised and babysat by his parents so he was nurtured all his life at home and the transitioned went great. he has made beautiful memories, built lasting friendships, and were guided by caring teachers especially Mrs Blanca who helped shape them into kind, confident little people. we loved that His teacher Mrs Blanca was Spanish speaker so that made us happy as our toddler is bilingual. his teacher Mrs. Blanca is exceptional ! I will forever be grateful to learning experience for the role they played in our lives. We get constant updates through the app on how his day is going, which is nice. There's also peace of mind having access to the cameras in the app too. I unfortunately had my daughter here about 15 months because others in the area didn't have space. I've had other kids in daycares before but this is something else. My daughter was constantly sick (beyond what is typical) from a lack of cleaning (e.g. pink eye and HFM multiple times) plus constant diaper rashes from lack of changes (they investigated this and were cited for it I believe). My daughter constantly came home with bites or scratches, sometimes with an incident report but often with an "Oh, I don't know". They were recently cited for this. I finally came in one day and found Lori lazily sitting in a chair and screaming at my daughter's class to stop playing and running around. I intervened, and she even tried to justify her behavior. Teachers were present in the adjacent classrooms, the director included, and there's no way they didn't hear since I heard from the front door. I reported them to the licensing board and they're currently investigating. We're relieved to be moving her to a very highly rated daycare that's a good deal cheaper.

Before that, my daughter attended KinderCare in Irvine for three years, so our family has been with KinderCare for more than four years in total. Unfortunately, my experience with the new director was completely different. Before the new school semester started, our after-school program was closed for that week, and I needed childcare for only two days. I could have worked from home, but since my daughter was already familiar with this KinderCare, I decided to call and ask if she could attend for those two days. The important question I asked was whether the registration fee could be waived, since we had only left the center about two months earlier and had already been with KinderCare for more than four years. The director clearly told me on the phone, "Of course, you don't need to pay it. we will accept her. Just drop her off in the morning." I was so happy, I even asked my neighbor to see if she wants to put her daughter in the place. Based on that conversation, I brought my daughter to the center for those two days. Then I received a bill for the two days of care PLUS a $125 registration fee. I paid the bill, but I called and asked why I was charged the registration fee. She told me that she had never said the fee would be waived. Seriously? Of course I understood that I needed to pay for the two days of childcare. That was never the issue. The ONLY reason I specifically called before bringing my daughter there was to ask about the registration fee. If I had known I would have to pay it, I would not have used the service for those two days. At this point, the $125 is not the issue anymore. It was an expensive reminder of how important it is to get everything in writing or recording. I have had a very good experience with the teachers and the previous director, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, because of this experience with the new director, our family will not be returning to KinderCare, and I will be sharing this experience with friends and coworkers who are considering this location, as well as the Yelp. If you need to communicate with this director by phone, I strongly recommend confirming everything in writing afterward so there is a record of what was discussed.

The cost is competitive and so worth it. The only thing that didn't work for me was that I wanted someone to do all the potty training for me. The potty training was the bane of my existence as a parent because of the stressful experience I had with my first child. My child wanted to take her time, which was my only worry, because I wanted to make sure she was potty-trained by the time she entered TK, and because of my busy work schedule, I couldn't potty train much. They work with the parents to potty train, and because I wasn't ready to potty train her they didn't push it much for her. I would say to most parents in the area- send your kids there and you won't regret it! Compared to what I've seen and experienced with some other amazing preschools, Heartwood was a true gem!

Licensing/state has reportedly been called to the daycare multiple times since the new owner took over, which raises even more concerns as a parent. Overall, this daycare is not the same place it used to be, and I am extremely disappointed with the direction it has gone. At this point, I am seriously considering removing my children over the summer and enrolling them elsewhere because I no longer feel confident in the childcare being provided.

As a mother I was so worried how the teachers will treat my baby and other kids, however I can say this school has taught her letters, numbers, sharing, etc. Her teach Ms. Brandy is a God sent. I have a 4 year old daughter and a 2 yr old son. Both my kids have been at Heavenly Care since they were 3 months old. Today I had to give my notice to take them to another school because we are moving and I broke down crying. I love this place so much. If it wasn't so far from our new house I would have driven quite a bit out of the way to keep my kids here. In fact this place is currently a 15-20 min drive from my house and I gladly make the drive because my kids love it so much. I have known other parents who also drive pretty far to come here. Both of my kids excelled here. They did an amazing job helping to Potty train my daughter. By the time my kids were 18 months they could count to 10, sing their "ABCDs" (as my kids call it) and they knew all their shapes and colors. My 4 year old knows what a trapezoid and rumbus are... I didn't even know what a rumbus was until I saw my daughter teaching my 2 year old. Lol I can't say enough about this school. The teachers are all amazing. My kids still go back to the baby class and give hugs and say hi to the teachers in that class. My children formed serious bonds with these teachers. They talk about them at home and my kids have NEVER had a bad experience here. Even with my 2year old being a bit of a handful. These teachers truly care about my kids. They talk about their development and ask me questions about how we handle things at home or they give me advice as to what is working for them. They sing lots of songs, do lots of art, learn every day. At 2yrs and up they provide food. They are very accommodating of allergies or anything your kids need. My daughters best friends are at this school. I've even become close with the parents of the other kids and we go to birthday parties and have Disney play dates out side of school. I recommend this place 1,000 times over again for anyone looking for a preschool/daycare in the area.
