This has always been a fun place to look when I've visited Victoria. This time the door was locked at noon on a Friday. They had a sign on the door to ring the doorbell and to please be patient. We could see people shopping inside. While we waited others came and left because they didn't wait to wait: We were just getting ready to walk away (after about 10 minutes of waiting or so) and when someone came out and we caught the door and slipped inside. While looking around we heard the doorbell ring so it was definitely working. What kind of business practice is this to treat your customers like this? They do have a lot of cool stuff but it's not cheap. Not worth waiting out in the rain for (thankfully it was a dry day for us). read more

Wanted to stop in last time I was in Victoria but door was locked and no one answered. They do have beautiful mostly expensive things but they also mark up items. Last time I was able to get in I saw several items that were twice as expensive as the exact same product at other stores! read more

I splurged and had several custom curtains made. Some turned out beautifully while other curtains, including our bedroom curtains, had to be removed for months as they offgassed. The two rooms that had the same fabric smelled awful while the three other rooms with different fabric smelled fine. This meant we didn't have curtains all summer in our bedroom. When I continued to complain about the offgassing , they denied they could possibly be offgassing and ended the conversation with a "there are no refunds on custom drapery". They also didn't believe me when I said one blind was too long despite me having a photo of it being too long. They said "the installler said they fit perfectly". Two of the blinds don't open fully. They hadnt measured correctly to order the right amount of fabric so I agreed that they could make one of the blinds out of three pieces of fabric instead. It was extremely inconvenient to deal with these issues all summer and to deny my complaints was unprofessional. I know they initially attempted to solve the offgassing problem by suggesting I may have a RAT in the walls of our new renovation!!!! The curtains were hung one day and that evening I could faintly smell offgassing and by the next day we had to remove the curtains entirely due to the toxic smell. The saleswoman denied that there could be any offgassing at all yet when the Manager finally sent me the "there are no refunds on custom orders", she contradicted the salswoman by stating that there can be mild offgassing when they are initially hung. I have been shopping at Chintz and Company since I moved here and bought my curtains and furniture there years ago, all of which are still beautiful. I just want to address the issue of the locked door. I lived in Buenos Aires 15 years ago and for security, we were buzzed into shops, restaurants, and hotels. This is a common protective measure. It's an unfortunate reality not of the company's making and they have to do it or they will have criminals walking in. The staff is great and I love their furnishings. read more

I am so grateful for this wonderful store! In a world where so many homeware stores are closing in big cities and only offering shopping online, the opportunity to immerse myself in an inspiring, magical place like Chintz & Co is a dream come true. I appreciate the curation it takes to bring all of the pieces within it together, and the dedication to their aesthetic - which they have maintained for decades! I find there is something for everyone here, whether you want to fully embrace the whimsical and magical, or if you just want to buy a beautiful scented candle for a minimalist friend. The faux flower selection is an absolute MUST. I stock up every time I'm in town, and my purchases have lasted me decades. Their Christmas decorations are absolutely STUNNING, and they are very reasonably priced for their quality. The staff is always warm, professional, and accommodating. If you just wish to peruse, they leave you to it and let you explore. I know it is a very difficult time for retail still, so I really really hope they can hold on and keep going for many many decades to come. I have never been shopping in such a beautiful store with such miserable staff. When I say miserable I don't want to give the impression that the staff is rude. The staff acts like someone has a gun to their head and if they don't sell something they will be beat to death. Sorry if this sounds morbit but I almot wanted to ask for the manager just to see if there was any resemblence to hitler. Very eclectic mix of items for your home. It is a great contrast to larger more generic stores.

I was treated terribly by the sales associates at Chintz. I was flat out refused to help and told me to come back when my usual associate was working. The staff are extremely rude, condescending and pretentious. I love the store but I will never purchase from them again due to how I was treated. read more

Bring your wallet and purse and be prepares to spend. Higher end items sometimes justify the prices. Unique one-of-a-kind household stuff. Ritzy people buy here all the time and don't even flinch at the prices. Save up or pass it up. read more

I was helped by a friendly sales woman, but unfortunately the only item we liked was a sofa that had been discontinued. I asked the sales lady about ordering a particular Maitland-Smith coffee table. She did not know how to find out price or availablity for me, so she asked a co-worker who was not helpful. He didn't bother to look it up on his computer, his only offering was, "We can get it if it's on their website." Of course the Maitland-Smith website does not give prices or availability, so I guess C&C wants you to commit to buying before you know those two things. Our daughter loves the furniture in this store; I feel like Alice in Wonderland but not in a good way. read more

I love the store and it is refreshing to find unique pieces however what I detest about this store is how aggressive the salespeople are. I feel I can no longer browse here without staff commenting on what I am looking at and asking every minute if they can take what is in my hand up to the counter(I am sure this is to ensure that they get the commission from what I am buying) I dont blame the salespeople but I blame the management, its ridiculous! read more

TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE customer service. It took me over 3 months and 3 different sales associates, 5 personal visits to their store to finally be able to place an order. The items were delayed time and again and this was never communicated. Finally some of the items arrived, majority of them were damaged and some never arrived at all. I specially ordered every item and pre-paid for them. They then tried to sell me something "comparable" but at a higher cost in lieu of the items that never showed up (despite me double checking that they were indeed on the truck as they had promised twice before). They would not honor my original price for the items that never showed up or were damaged and would do absolutely nothing to try and get me the original items I had pre-ordered and pre-paid for. They could care less about losing a customer or ensuring any sort of service. After 3 months, I had to cancel my entire order and am still waiting for them to actually refund my credit card.
