I have been very reluctant to write a review on City Pets, perhaps because I feel so sick and…read moreguilty for having taken Cooper here to get groomed just because their rates are less than at Kaiser's (two blocks away) - a good lesson to "buy nice or buy twice". Grooming: I initially took Cooper here for doggie day care since I was working and going to part-time business school. I noticed they offered grooming and decided to try them out since their rate was less than at Kaiser's. The second time I took Cooper for grooming, he came home with such a close shave! Lisa told me they had to take extra fur off since it was matted. I thought it wasn't a big deal until a year later when my husband and I noticed that Cooper's fur was not growing back. We took him to the vet to confirm it wasn't due to a medical reason, and she told us that his fur had been cut down too short that it destroyed his fur follicles. Please see the attached before and after photos. We are distraught that his beautiful fur has not grown back (his neck especially remains bare). Doggie Daycare: The dogs are not given walks during the day. Instead, there are just pee pads on the floor so that the dogs can relieve themselves inside. This can be very counter-intuitive for a puppy who has just learned to be house-trained.

We only left because we moved to the burbs and are now struggling to find a place like FitDog to take care of our big guy. Robot was always happy to run in to "school" as my 4 year old called it and when we picked him up he was always exhausted from playing (in a good way!). The staff is incredibly trustworthy, and they genuinely care about your pup! I not only take my dog here for daycare and grooming, but I also board her here occasionally, as it is one of the only places in the city that has staff on site over night. I learned that most other places in the city leave the dogs alone for about 7-8 hours at night! At Dog Hotel, there is someone here 24/7. I won't take my dog anywhere else!

I'm writing this today as I came across an old video from our doggy cam of her man handling our dog and therefore felt the responsibility to share. All was fine until one day I received a call from the owner saying she's locked out then proceeded to blame my high energy dogs for her lapse of memory to account for the keys. The tone of the call seemed exaggerated for the situation that occurred but everyone deals with things differently and I dismissed it. I drove 50 miles back from work to bring them inside. She then communicated my dog needs training and she can't handle her anymore. It seemed a bit abrupt as communication prior to this seemed very passive about my dog being reactive and barking frequently, but never to the point where I felt she didn't have a handle on the situation. It's then when I found the video...She grabbed my dog by the collar, ripping her out of her kennel, lifting her high on her hind legs, and held her by the neck to dress her for the walk. My other dog has high anxiety and you can see the fear in her body language. I am not dismissing the fact that my dog was tough to deal with. She was a rescue that was found abandoned with her litter, and last one to be adopted. She is very reactive to other dogs , very vocal, very high energy, and at the time she was very much a puppy with additional puppy energy. We ended up spending thousands of dollars on training for her throughout her life, but it never truly resolved her problems. We now learn how to cope with them. (We love her to death, but she's not for everyone). I'm selective with who I choose to care for my pets because of the personalities that they bring and I trusted Pet & Home Pros to take care of them knowing the experience that was advertised. During initial meetings, I was reassured that there was plenty of experience with dogs similar to mine and that there should be no need to worry. I really wish Krista would have quit watching my dogs before it got to the point that she needed to manhandle them in order for her to do her job. I will not post the video here, but I wanted to express my warning to dog owners with high energy or reactive characteristics to reconsider this organization.

Our dog is a rescue so she can sometimes exhibit shy/aggressive behavior around strangers, but becuase of the trust Krista & Ricky have established with her, she's excited and happy to see them for both walks and daycare. My pup is kind of shy and judging by the pictures and live updates I was sent all weekend, he felt right at home.
