Can you go lower then 1 Star? Do you want your belongings held hostage? Do you enjoy calling a company once they have your life on one of their trucks to have no one answer the phone. Do you enjoy watching delivery dates come and go? Do you enjoy being lied to repeated time? Then i suggest you use this company. We went a month without our belongings, the tuck broke down, it's on its way, oh the people who also have things on the truck were not home tomorrow, next Friday or Saturday wait no Sunday Tuesday.... 35 days later and many "contract" dates later. During our move last summer from CA to the Midwest, our cherrywood armoire and a rocking chair were broken, our walls in our new home were gouged, and 2 autographed sports photos disappeared. We provided proof of all the damage to Chipman Moving and Relocation our local agent for United Van Lines. The proof included photos for the wall damage, a written acknowledgement from the moving supervisor as to the wall damage, and the packing box number that the photos were in. Our tax office needed to move in October last year and Chipman Relocations was exceptional. From the first contact with their agent John Coletti to the day of the move when the last handtruck left our new office, they took care of everything, no surprises. We found them to be organized (asked all the right questions up front), punctual, treated our furniture and electronic equipment with kid gloves, and were very efficient in getting us set up in our new location. We used Chipman (local United affiliate) for our move from Danville, CA to Georgetown, TX. We had three quotes and all three varied in weight and the price. Chipman was the only company to give us a guarantee not to exceed price. Joe Alves was our salesman and he was excellent. Theresa in customer service was a joy to work with and kept us informed on every step of the process. Shawn was our driver and he did an excellent job too. Nothing was broken but we did have a minor claim for a dirty mattress. This was the first move we have had to pay out of our pocket so you tend to watch the budget closer. Tim and Alan came to deliver our household goods for a military move where our belongings were in storage for over 5 months. The two of them couldn't have been more professional from their arrival through to their departure. They handled our stuff with care from the truck all the way to placing them in the room of our choice. We've moved over 10x and I can say that this crew was one of the best. I have wanting to write a review, regarding Chipman/United Relocations. We moved in May of 2014. We got a few quotes and they came in about the same. Two trucks with 1 person in charge and then the rest were college kids. Overall everything was packed fine into the trucks and moved, but there were things that were dropped and broken. Word of advice, do not throw away anything they break. Without it, you cannot get reimbursed. It was also a stressful day, trying to get the last minute things packed up. The staff was very cordial asking if they could help with anything. Be wary of that as well, they will charge you for any additional time that goes over the contract. If I had to do it again, I would be more firm with them and not so nice. read more

Don't use this moving service. I had a terrible experience. First, they lost some of my stuff. Come to find out that the high priced "coverage" I paid for doesn't cover anything that was in a box. So the two boxes of stuff that they lost are a loss to me. I am still waiting to hear back from them about the seven missing items and it has been almost two months since I moved. They just keep giving me the run around. Second, they overcharged me. They didn't charge me for the correct "coverage" when they initially charged me. For a month I called trying to tell them this... they wouldn't call me back. Then I get a bill that was for $50 too much. I am still trying to straighten that out. Third, they are non-responsive. For the first month after I moved I tried to get a hold of them. NO RESPONSE. Do not use this service! read more

Do not use Chipman. We had a terrible experience. We used them for storage and then a cross country move and they lost a substantial amount of boxes which have still not been located. I was very nervous about my interstate move because I had had a bad experience with another moving company for my last move. Got several estimates this time. Contacted Joe Alves of Chipman because we had used one of Chipman's teams for a local move, and they had done a good job. I asked Joe if I could have that same team led by Jose. He said Jose wasn't available that week, but he recommended Raoul and his team. I decided to hire Chipman for the move, and am so glad I did! Raoul, David, and one other man (Isaac, Isaiah ?) did a superb job. They worked hard, were careful with my stuff, and were congenial with each other and with me. Raoul and David drove the truck to Oregon and unloaded. They were very patient and accommodating as I decided where to put furniture. If I could negative stars I would. This is the first review I have ever done on any company which shows how terrible this company is. I am moving to San Diego and didn't want to deal with the stress of a uhaul. I called chipman relocations July 2nd for a move on August 3rd, plenty of time to set everything up with them. We scheduled for a worker by the name of Dan to come out in the 14th to give me an estimate on how much it might cost. He called the 13th canceling with no reasoning whatsoever and said that we can do it by phone...really...by phone? He told me goodbye over the phone and I hear no estimate and no word from the company for over a week. I called Dan back and he tells me that their office in Fairfield has the estimate and the bookings. I called the office and women on the phone told me the opposite, that Dan has the estimate and that she will email him to contact me, no call at all the rest of the day. I call back the following and the women tells me she'll text him...really...text your own workers. She goes on to explain how she doesn't understand how he's not responding to her calls or texts. She then goes on to say that she'll call back in a couple of hours...no call for the rest of the day. I call back, very irritated now, and ask if they even have my move scheduled on the 3rd. They did not have my information about any move at all. I called today and again...waiting on their call again. I have no idea how a company that moves people for profit is confused as to how their company works. There's no professional communication through their company at all and they don't even have the decency to call people back. I HIGHLY Recommend that nobody, and I mean NOBODY, use this company ever. I need to move out of my house today. I agreed to pay between $2200 and $2800 to send four men to finish packing my house and move me from Benicia to Suisun. We were also going to use their vault storage. 3 men showed up and packed four boxes, then sent me out to get more boxes. I went, and when I came back, everybody and the truck were gone. I am hearing now that they walked straight past my wife without saying anything to her. It took me about an hour to get ahold of them, and then they told me that the guys left because the house was "an unsafe environment." They said that there was dog poop everywhere, when in reality there was a tiny little turd that my 6 pound Pomeranian probably made while the guys were there because he was nervous. They also told me that the house was a mess and that they couldn't work under these conditions. Here's a news flash: I'M MOVING! Of course my house is going to be a disaster. Now I'm sitting here, in a 3000 sq. ft house, with 4 boxes and whatever I have packed. I honestly wish I could give them zero stars. Actually, negative 5 would be best. read more

He was very experienced and detailed. That was very important to us as we have a very large house with lots of big furniture. I would like to highly recommend Chipman relocators!.. I just moved from Vacaville, CA to North Augusta SC. After reading so many "BAD" reviews I was afraid I would never find a dependable moving company. But I did!. John did a great job on the estimation part of my load and gave me a idea of what the cost would be. The movers (2 young men - can't remember names - so sorry!) arrived on the assigned date and time and proceeded to load up my belongings. I decided at the last minute to actually add more stuff to load so I wouldn't have to carry it in the car with me - so drove to local U-haul place to pick up more boxes and packed a few more things in boxes while they were loading. The loading went fast and efficient. I was not expecting them to load on a "small" truck and transfer it to larger truck but after an explanation about the unknown time on the "larger trucks " arrival - I was okay with my stuff going on the smaller truck and being unloaded at warehouse THEN loaded again on the bigger truck. I called Staci at the office and she gave me the driver's cell phone so I was able to talk to him and find out exactly when they would arrive. They actually called me several times to update me on the exact time they would arrive. The arrived at the specified time , and unloaded (Gabiel/ his wife and Dillian) very efficiently and fast. A few of my items had been taken apart but they put them together and had put them in the rooms that I asked. Only mishap was cracked cabinet door of a cupboard , boxes had been placed inside it and the pressure must have been too much. The wood on the door was thin so understandable that it might crack. The furniture piece can be repaired and wasn't really expensive so I was okay with that being the only "glitch". I will take care of it myself. But in all - the experience was very professionally done and I am very satisfied with this company and would highly recommend their services. I have moved 32 times, 5 time across state lines and 2 times across country lines. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had. From the Sales person, Stacia Conger, Humboldt Moving and Storage, who the truck driver came from, to the claims department Donna Hart. The truck drive left items at our house including his own. He threw many items on the truck, scratched, damaged, took dig out of door and called me a lier! He even kept trying to take other people items off the truck to give us. And did some shelves. I call United and they didn't even want to get them to the people they belonged to. It took from Dec. 8th to just now Feb. 26th to get the claim taken care of. And only because I kept calling. I would NEVER USE UNITED AGAIN!! They don't even rate one star! read more

The movers said they were experienced, but they said they could not fit several pieces of furniture through the door which in turn caused delays, driving up the cost of the move. I hired another mover who managed to fit everything into my new home without a problem. I wrote to the agent for Chipman and they kept saying that they will process a refund, but it has been 11 months and they have just ignored my requests. Do not use them. read more

I've relocated...again...and happy to say I've had another shining experience with Chipman Relocations. Seriously, this company has it down to a fine science! They have long-term employees, which says as much positive about them as I could possibly write in a review. I worked with Elizabeth in the office (handled every detail and I never worried) and my driver, Donny is the BEST! Not one thing even slightly out of place - no horror stories here - only shining praise. He went above and beyond. This is a man who does his job well, respects the people he moves, and has a complete understanding of not only the stress of moving, but the importance of each person's belongings to them. I've always had great drivers with Chipman, but he is my favorite. Martin was the helper on the loading end and I can't say enough good about him either. The most positive, hard working team I have ever seen. I had complete trust in them and it was well earned and deserved. The team on the delivery end was fantastic as well.
