How very wrong we were... There were about eight people hovering around the front of the restaurant, while another eight were sitting at tables. A warning sign was that only a few of the eight people at tables actually had food. I mentioned to my wife that I "didn't have a good feeling about this." She shrugged it off and, to my chagrin, continued on to the computer kiosk. While she pondered her order, I scanned the looks of waiting customers. Each had a desolation in their eyes, as though something at this fast food location had gone terribly wrong. Several were wearing "Dragon Ball Z" Burger King crowns. One elderly fellow was wearing two. To my alarm, once our $15 dollar meal was ordered, no recipient printed out (though one was requested). I registered slight concern, but my lovely wife assured me we wouldn't need a receipt. Looking around at the fellow customers and starting to see the forlorned staff, something told me this was a receipt kind of night at The King. We took some seats towards the back of the restaurant; we would have plenty of time for our turn at the front. No food came out. Outside the window, drive through customers that had paid were lined up five deep, still waiting for food. I looked over at the staff, and many were staring at the order wall like the chimps starting at the monolith at the beginning of 2001 a Space Odyssey. I could tell that they yearned for answers that just weren't coming. They seemed to be begging for the board to give these answers, but its indifferent glow had none. One employee looked upon the empty fryers as though she had never seen them before. She picked up an empty basket and set it back in the oil. One of the staff members, perhaps a senior staff member, ran out from behind the counter and tapped a young man on the shoulder, begging for help. His compatriot at the table insisted it wasn't their shift. Regardless, this stout and strapping fellow heralded the call of his on-the-clock coworker. Rushing to what looked like an ice cream machine, he picked up a large bag of white goop and, as his manager looked on, poured it into the machine. There was no handwashing at any point; he simply went from sitting at a table to pouring in liquid. Sometimes, life at the King gets dirty. Soon after, I noticed one large bag of food being served. The customer grabbed it greedily, clutching it to her chest like a mother would hold her baby as she waded through dangerous flood waters; the rest of us looked at her with a mixture of jealousy and disgust. She was fed. God help the rest of us. At this point, my Whopper crazed but patient wife had almost had enough. It had been over forty minutes. We saw one come through. I did the math as I looked at the crowd. We would not taste beef here tonight. The rest of the events came quickly. The manager who had enlisted the help of an off-duty employ locked herself in the unisex - very progressive! - bathroom. She was gone. The remaining employees were still huddled around and staring up at the order screen. One man stepped to the front of the line, and asked for his money back. The cashier asked him to produce a receipt. He could not, as the machine was broken. The employee tried to change the receipt paper. He could not do so. He left the paper and joined his fellow employees to stare at the screen. We were truly and honestly f'd. After reciting his order like a shamanic mantra, the man at the counter got his money back. What black magic conquered his $20 dollars? We must know... My wife follow suit. The cashier apologies profusely, but struggled to process the refund, as we too had been left without a receipt. He said there was a new system that had confused the employees. But no one was making fries or burgers. They had simply lost hope. These people had been crushed under the weight of not just a King, but a tyrant. The siren song of the order board's glow shined on, but had no answers to give. Of the $15 dollars spent, the cashier ended up coming up with $11. A gift horse and all, my wife and I made our exit. In the parking lot, I talked to a young man who simply abandoned his order and his money. Looking a bit sad, he lamented that he would need to eat at Taco Bell, but he doesn't even like Taco Bell. I suppose we all know that pain. This disaster is a symptom of poor training or management or both. I'd like to say an employee rose from the flame-broiled ashes like a greasy phoenix to save us, but there were no heroes this day. $4 is a small price to pay for a very valuable lesson; I will never eat here again. Probably.

I had a leg and thigh combo. The bone on the leg was bare like it was gnawed off and both pieces were dry to the bone. It was like they have been sitting under the lights for hours. If the quality cannot be restored and sustained, I think this iconic brand is at risk. There are competitors out there doing a better job if this is KFC's new standard. I do not do reviews often but when the product significantly falls below traditional expectations, I offer this as a means to try and help revive the past quality controls. Before I went, I thought of getting a bigger meal, but I am glad I got as little as I did as I would not have spent 1/2 of what I did for what I received. It was below vending machine quality. Please take this negative as a plea to look at your reviews and examine the business moving forward to improve. I hope it can be restored.

Not a great experience…read more Our server (I'll call her "Regina" because she reminded me of Regina George from Mean Girls) set the tone as we took our seats, hurriedly asking us what we wanted to drink. I was still settling into my chair, but I said "Oh - OK, let me see," and flipped through the menu while the kids gave their drink orders. I realized after a few seconds that the drinks must be listed elsewhere, but I didn't want to drag things out so I just said, "I'll take a margarita." Regina gave me a pitying half-smile and said with withering condescension, "Uh, that's the drink menu over there," gesturing toward it (while she didn't actually add "loser," it seemed implied somehow). I wanted to say, "I'm very sorry, but you see I just sat down 3 seconds ago and hadn't even had time to look around the table to spot the drink menu. Could you maybe slow it down a little?" But I didn't think to say that until after she had speed-walked away. After about a minute had passed, she returned with the kids' drinks and asked us if we were ready to order. Our youngest got a little flustered and started to order but clearly hadn't made up her mind yet, so Regina took the hint and offered to come back. When she returned with my wife's and my drinks a few minutes later, she then asked us what we were having in a way that made it clear she would be taking our order now, right now. I wasn't ready but the others were, so I let them order while I quickly scanned the menu. We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer, specifically the "Pickadippa" with queso blanco, guac and salsa. I was hungry and was looking forward to that as a starter. The appetizer was a no-show but the rest of our food showed up with impressive speed - everything we'd ordered was on our table within, I'd say, under 10 minutes. I'd barely touched my drink so far but that was OK, I was hungry, as mentioned previously. I tucked into my dinner, but my wife had the presence of mind to catch our retreating server and ask about the appetizer. Regina said she would check on it. Shortly afterward a manager came out and explained that our appetizer had been given to another table in error, who had claimed it as their own. So she kindly comped it and promised we'd have it soon, and we did. We were now halfway through our meals and had lost a lot of our interest in chips and salsa, but we gamely ate it along with our entrees. (I recount the appetizer incident not because it was a big deal - it wasn't, these things happen - but because Regina didn't take any ownership of it and left it for her manager to take care of. Our actual server never said a word about it.) When it came time to pay the check, along with my card I included the printout of the birthday discount my wife had brought with her (a nice loyalty perk that Big Burrito offers). Regina swung by, grabbed the check tray and started to hurry away, but before she had vanished I turned to her and mentioned, just to make sure she was aware of it, "We have a birthday coupon there for one of our entrees," to which Regina sort of grimaced and said, "Uh...OK?" as though it was completely unnecessary for me to say that, which maybe it was. But again, the frosty mean-girl disdain. In truth, she had treated my whole family like we smelled bad from the moment we sat down. Literally as though there was something repulsive about us and she could barely bring herself to speak to us. I can attest that we all shower daily and that my wife and daughters are not remotely repulsive. Me, I dunno. So, thanks to speed queen Regina, our entire birthday dinner lasted about 45 minutes, tops, from walking in to walking out. And that would be great if we'd been, I don't know, late for the opera and really needed a speedy meal. But personally, on the rare occasions when we go out to eat at a halfway civilized restaurant, I like to sit and enjoy my food. You know, chew it. I don't need hours and hours, but maybe a little longer than 45 minutes including drinks, appetizer, entree and (the kids') dessert. The food was fine, reliably tasty Mad Mex food. No problems there. And the kids had fun and didn't notice anything amiss, thankfully. But for me and my wife, our server's demeanor just made the whole experience kind of unpleasant. Maybe Regina was just having a bad day and I should cut her some slack. But I mean...it's hard not to take it personally when your server is not only rushing the meal to an almost comical degree, but also seems to have an attitude toward you from start to finish when you did nothing to upset them other than being seated in their section. Maybe it's not her fault at all - maybe Big Burrito is training their servers to turn around tables as fast as humanly possible now. They didn't used to. Whatever the problem, it will probably be a good long while before we go back.

I am sure each location is different but I wonder if you choose a particular Arby's location, it will have their specific selections?? Just a thought.
