Today, i requested a double protein stea & chicken. Since I can't eat it all at once. I get condiments/sides on the side. Such as salsa, sourcream, cheese and lettuce. Today I was told those same condiments/sides that I had not been previousy charged for. For the last year. Would now be $1.00 each. I told them no thank you. I just went a couple of times this week for the first time at this location hoping the experience would be better than the first. The young lady up front was very kind and courteous which was nice but looking around the restaurant trash cans were overflowing, tables were dirty when I got my burrito I bit into it in the car and literally every part of it was cold! The steak I got reminded me of jerky treats I wouldn't give to my dog, dry and hard;(BOTH visits, come on!)The rice was hard and crunchy in some parts. Overall this was an unenjoyable waste of time. I was sooooooooooo happy to hear that Merced was finally getting a Chipotle. But it also made me realize why the valley can't have nice things... I've been to several other Chipotle locations, including some in the Bay Area, and this one is shameful compared to the others when it comes to customer service. The employees don't SMILE AT ALL. The key to having customers come back besides having an excellent product is the employees actually treating you like a human. Fast food isn't the greatest job ever, of course, but damn at least pretend it is! They're paying you. They have nice outdoor seating and a spacious dining room, larger than most other Chipotles. I'd give it more stars if the employees didn't look so upset :) read more

Horrible experience found hair in my food. I called and had told the employee working about how I found hair in my food. She was nice over the phone, she said she will take care of it by replacing it. One week later I'm going to chipotle to get my bowl. The manager said there nothing she can do about it. Seriously tell your employees to to wear a hairnet so this doesn't happen again. read more

Honestly it's wonderful to finally have a chipotle in Merced! But in order for them to represent a great franchise, I believe some things need to change. Service could be better. The girls in the front need to be more friendly. Felt like they just wanted to hurry up with everything. We got two bowls and chips and guacamole. Chips were too salty! And the brown rice in our bowls was not cooked properly. Kinda ruined the entire meal because unfortunately, like some things, I can't really pick the rice out and finish the rest Other than that, place looks nice (kinda small but its ok). A Chipotle restaurant that is well-managed and well-staffed is by default a great place for a fast meal. They have a great system. One of the smallest Chipotle locations I have ever went to.. really small restaurant. Same good food decent service.. I will stop by when I'm in the area. Got a chicken burrito slapped on the burrito from los brasas in Livingston. . Which is the place where I had my last burrito and had a bad experience with it. read more

FOOD POISONING!!!! I love chipotle with my whole heart and soul but unfortunately this location gave me horrible food poisoning. No matter what you do DO NOT ORDER SOFRITAS! I was puking my brains out at 4AM and burping the food up all day after I ate it. This was probably the worst food poisoning I've ever had before and it was not fun. I don't know if the employees just disregarded the food safety regulations or what happened exactly. read more

Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Little under 1 hour to closing, and they were out of 2 types of meat and queso. Still got a burrito, but Never got my refund to my card for the queso they knew they didn't have. read more

Upon reaching the counter nothing seemed out of the ordinary but when leaving and chowing down on my supposedly "delicious" burrito I was upset with almost everything. My chicken was burnt, the rice wasn't lemon-y, and the guacamole was plain. There was no flavor to it at all. They put my friends steak on the side. Her steak was rare. It was more than just pink. Then to make it worse, the women behind the counter said that that's "just the way they cook it" and she wanted to worn her because she didn't want her to "put it on and not have her want it anymore." We had to bring it back to my place to recook it. We also grabbed a bag of chips and they were soggy. They were coated in oil and were stale. They had clearly been hiding in a dark corner in a back room behind a sack of potatoes for at least 3 days. I've been to many Chipotle's before. The one in Berkeley is amazing! Always and issue with the rice. A worker must be mixing old and new rice as there are always hard rice ruining the meal. Everything else is fine but hard rice will ruin the meal. read more

The employees looked confused & said they were out of steak & guacamole by 9:20pm, mind you they close at 10:00pm. The rude female employee said they had to make an online order first but then the people that came in for their online order still had to wait. Also as we walked in an employee was talking with what seemed to be a group of his friends & rudely stood there talking. As for my food, chicken was burnt & the romaine lettuce tasted bitter & my rice was a bit on the hard side. When they first opened, I thought YAY just what Merced needed, something new! But now I view it as a Taco Bell...somewhere I never eat. Looks like I wont be returning here any time soon! read more

You know what you are getting with Chipotle. While after reading more about Merced we could have gone more local Mexican food. This site offered very fresh food and was very clean. Supposedly sofritas day. I came in on January 26th to try the sofritas tofu I'd heard about on their huge social media campaign since I'm a vegetarian and don't find Mexican food I can enjoy most places. I figured that this deal of buying the sofritas burrito today and getting a free one later was a great deal but there was no sofritas. I was not offered a rain check or anything. I'm super disappointed at this point but it's after 7:30 and I'm hungry so I got a bowl of beans and rice with lettuce and cheese. The rice was super hard and dry. I'm almost glad I'm not getting a free burrito because now I'm not sure if it would be good. But of course the receipt still says "Buy a sofritas burrito on Monday January 26th" blah blah enough of your empty promises, chipotle. tl;dr no sofritas. No free future burrito. No Bueno. read more

General manager Christina Vargas is rude and disrespectful. Read the negative reviews other customers have about her. She will lie to customers and employees. She allows the employees to treat customers with disrespect. Although there are some good employees at this store. And the food is fresh most of the time. If your a friend of Mr Vargas you can treat customers however you want with no consequences. And when you bring your concerns to manager Vargas you better watch out. He will treat you like an employee and not a paying customer. So rude and unprofessional. read more

My fiancé and I came to this Chipotle for a fundraiser for New Beginnings ( a local animal rescue). There are two very nice volunteers (outside in the parking lot)letting customers coming into chipotle know about the fundraiser. An employee of Chipotle came out and said that they cannot promote in front of the business and they have to leave and be closer to the mall?!? What kind of sense does that make?! This is a promotion for the store and the shelter and they cannot be in front of the store that is fundraising with them?!? We were told there is a new manager. If this is how the manager runs their establishment, maybe we should find somewhere else to bring our business. I really hope that management sees this post and realizes how ridiculous they are being. read more

The first time I ordered from here it was really good I got a chicken salad with pinto beans fajita vegetables cheese sour cream and it was pretty good. Second time I ordered from there I basically got the same thing with a burrito bowl and it was decent thought I had found a new healthy lunch spot for when I go to work. But this last time I ordered a salad with the steak it was absolutely disgusting! I couldn't even eat half of it the steak taste off. Probably won't be ordering from here again which is a shame because the first time was great. Maybe I'll just stick to the chicken read more

The good: We came at a busy time and they had just ran out of steak. I waited so I could have my usual steak salad. The employee helping us was very kind. She let us come up right when it was finished. Also, she threw in some free chips for the wait. Seriously some of the best and friendliest service I've had yet. The not so good: It wasn't as yummy as other places I've had. Still pretty fresh but not as good. There was a pit/rind (not fun to bite down on) in my guacamole that I already had to pay extra for and the steak was pretty dang pink. Still a good experience. The staff more than made up for the less that great food. I'll try it again because I'm a huge fan of Chipotle. read more

So I went to Chipotle to go pick up a burrito... what I ordered was a burrito chicken and I ordered my condiments that I wanted, lady was very nice and polite but the person that was going to those going to charge me was nowhere to be found. I had to wait for the cashier to show up so I can pay for my food I was a little disappointed at the $9 burrito that was cold. when I showed up the young lady that made my food was taking temperatures of the food everything looked ok the. I took a bite out of my burrito everything was cold even the chicken I think they need to work on a way to keep the food warmer longer other than that it was okay. read more

WORST CHIPOTLE EVER. Save yourself some time, money, and disappointment, and head over to Taqueria El Huarache on the next block instead - their portions will be double the amount of meat + toppings you could ever get at cheap a** chipotle! I'd first like to point out that I'm a college student, and I've been to this Chipotle location anywhere between 5-10 times. Aside from the OK portions on their burrito bowls, their burritos have always been nothing short of a disappointment. The meat they gave me (barbacoa) I KID YOU NOT looked like it wasn't even enough for two tacos. And to make up for it, the worker (who seemed a bit lost and or uninterested in her job) put a ton of corn salsa all over it, as if a bunch of extra cheap toppings would hide the lack of meat. She chatted with her employee for about a minute too and made me wait. When I asked for extra barbacoa on the side, they tried to serve me what looked like 3 LITTLE SPOONFULS of it in a little salsa cup, & charge me over 3 DOLLARS for it. Are you kidding me? Aren't you supposed to be helping us broke and starving college students, not ripping us off?! Plus, the women were giving me attitude and had an "IDGAF" mentality. Not wanting to start something, I declined that sad excuse for an extra side of meat they were trying to serve me, paid for my order, and left. My burrito was was a mere 5ish inches long, and it was half warm/half cold. Can't use the tortilla warmer much? Never coming back again. TERRIBLE SERVICE & TERRIBLE PORTIONS sums it up about right. Side note: whenever I ask for a side of salsa but if they could just make it juice (and I ask in a super friendly manner guys I'm pretty freaking polite) they always give me some weird judgmental look before putting in 10% effort to try to do & for me. Once this worker said there's no juice, gave me a bunch of tomatoes, and when I complained to someone who actually cared, they moved aside the tomatoes and found all of the juice at the bottom for me :-) It's not really whether or not they could do it, it's just their overall attitude towards putting in any effort that irks me! read more

Not my favorite Chipotle. The food is good, but the customer service is not the best.

Came here on opening night, seeing a line out the door did not phase me. Thinking that my friends and I were more likely to die of starvation than get our Chipotle fix. Much to our surprise the line moved quickly and steadily, so we were able to clutch the monstrosities of a burrito and launch into a full fledged chowing session as soon as we found a seat. I had the steak burrito with all the fixins including gaucamole, which are to die for. It's great that Merced finally has a Chipotle open but I'd say it's four years too late since moving to Merced to attend UC Merced. At any rate, the quality is the same, superbly fresh and flavor full. Expect to find an energetic setting with mouth drooling fresh fast casual Mexican food. read more

I've been here two more times since the first time I went, and I'm no longer impressed with this Chipotle. I ordered a steak burrito both times, and they both times the food was cold. The meat was so cold I had to put my food in the microwave. At this Chipotle, they hardly put any meat in the burrito and seemed to try to make up for it in rice. They also charge a lot for guacamole. I ordered two burritos, one for me and my hubby, and it was almost $20! So not worth the money! read more

I work nearby and was stoked to find out that lowly Merced was getting a Chipotle. I've gone a total of 3 times since it opened and I was disappointed every time. My last burrito had a whopping 3 pieces of chicken in it. Not to mention the employees are unwelcoming and rush you out even though there is no rush.
