Food is always great. Customer service can use some adjustments. Some servers are very friendly and others not so much. Depending on the time of day, they can be rude and standoff-ish. Sometimes they are stingy with the food (even if I agree to pay the extra fee...which I am ok with). Friendlier staff would result in better service. read more

I had the worst experience at the chipotle near Newark Penn Station. The girl who rolled my burrito do a horrible job. And tried to wrap it in another tortilla. When she put it in the foil, my burrito was falling apart and most of the ingredients were still on the counter. I am very disappointed and upset I just spent my hard earned money on such garbage. The team at this Chipotle location is extremely helpful and friendly. After a short and simple call, they catered the set for my student film and made 50 delicious burritos, all made with Love in less than 24 hours. I got everything I ordered, including bags on bags of chips, a lot of guac, medium salsa, and sour cream. The customer service is warm and effective, and I love how open and willing they were to support our cause. I can't wait to work with them again! read more

Came here on a Sunday and it was absolutely the worst experience of my life. The chicken was cold and tasted rubbery. To make things worse, the rice was literally not seasoned with anything at all. It tasted like it just came out the rice cooker. I will never be returning to this chipotle ever. Worst workers as well. They just shrug and are like whatever. read more

Had lunch a couple of days ago and ordered a burrito. Everything was going well UNTIL it came time for the girl behind the counter to roll my burrito. She was just pushing everything together. By far the laziest and inadequate Chipotle I have ever been too, this is actually my first time writing on Yelp but it had to be shared. I went in with my sister to order two burritos, basic right, on the first one the lady did not even know how to wrap a burrito and ended up pushing it all together like a square and the only thing that kept it from coming apart was the foil wrapping. The second burrito was the same thing except she wrapped it into a square again by just mushing it all together and then kept ripping and and double wrapped it and again had a big hole in the burrito that she ignored even with some of the beans falling out and wrapped it anyway. When we went up to pay the cashier and the woman wrapping the burrito gave us dirty looks just for u stating our concern, I would NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS CHIPOTLE EVER. read more

Brand new location in downtown Newark! Service is great, it's on the smaller size though. Food is ok, pretty much standard chipotle fare, the ratios are a little bit off though, but that should improve with time. The store is clean and generally serves up the same dependable Chipotle for a reasonable value. However, there are times when you get an employee who is a little on the meat, so the complaints about portion size are not unwarranted. read more

I was lucky enough to attend the preopening the day before the grand opening and was very pleasantly surprised at how orderly the place was. Clean, obviously, because it was brand new - but the staff also seemed very well trained. I thought then that I hoped they would be able to keep it up. I've since been back four times - over a nearly two month period - and every time I become even more impressed. The food is Chipotle - it tastes like the same Chipotle you will get anywhere - but the staff is quick and friendly and nice. They seem happy to be working and to enjoy their jobs. And that makes all the difference. The place is pleasant to go to and worth it despite the long (but fast moving) lines. Oh and the place is still super clean! read more

First off -- it's a chain. We assume that they'll be going after the pre-event crowds at the Prudential Center. If you're looking for something reasonably quick and on the cheaper side then feel free. If you're on your lunch hour and don't want to blow all of your cash then the much better option is Moe's in Penn Station right near the information booth. Chipotle does not offer whole wheat tortillas and they charge extra for chips and guacamole which are included at Moe's. Food quality is comparable between the two places but if you want to spend less money and get more food then I would recommend skipping Chipotle altogether. Getting a seat was impossible so after schlepping all the way there, we had to schlep all the way back to the office just to eat our lunch. read more

I have been to many Chipotles and I love them all except this one in Newark. The portions are so small. My bowl is never full. Even when I pay extra it is still small. Not sure why this happens but I have been there several times and each time I am disappointed in the portions. On another note the staff is always nice and pleasant. read more

I've eaten at this Chipotle maybe 5 times since they opened and it's my least favorite. It's not that the food is bad is here versus other locations, it's just they do things that don't necessarily make sense. Today, though, took the cake. Upon arrival at about 12:10, during the rush lunch hour, we were told one by one when we to order that they had no bowls. But they wouldn't explain what "no bowl" meant. So now, we were all forced to decide between a burrito or taco. What was more annoying was after settling for a taco (and having my order messed up along the way, thus needing to be redone), they placed my tacos in a bowl lid, lined with a sheet of paper. They very easily could have served bowls in those lids instead of forcing everyone to order tacos or burritos. They also should have had a sign posted on the door that said "Currently not serving bowls. Sorry for the inconvenience" versus waiting until we were at the front of the line to tell us, but with no reasonable explanation. In fact, when we asked why, we were met with a shrug of the shoulder by the person beginning our food prep. They really need a stronger manager to think these things through. read more

On a cold November night (much like tonight) a friend and I rushed to Chipotle, tasting the standard-almost-not-but-still-is-processed-fast-food-I-used-to-be-owned-by-McDonald's-version-of-mexican (burritos are Mexican right?) at the tip of our tongues. We stood on line, warming up easily, comforted by the sleek Ikea inspired birch wood design. The line went quickly and I was overcome by the new veggies option and questioned whether getting sofritas and veggies would be extra, and if I was really ready for the gas to come (do any other lactose intolerant people get extra sour cream, or is that just me?)? I ordered my sofritas & veggies, half white rice and half brown rice (welcome to new Amerikka), black beans, corn (wait can I get extra corn, just a little bit more...jussstttt ), tomatoes, sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tortilla on the side. Just so you know, they're now charging extra for salad dressing too if you like me like the extra flay-vahh. Yeah no thank you. And even though it was a little skimped, it was delicious. I eagerly scraped through the bowl, ripping the tortilla apart, bubble guts and all (out of everything I asked more of, the less-than-compliant worker, only gave me more cheese--have I mentioned that I'm lactose intolerant?) as I'm gabbing away with my friend, when all of a sudden, she stops talking and pulls a long piece of hair out of her food. I was beside myself with awkward panicky laughter and my food threatening to escape my stomach. Hungry as we both were, she much more calmly than I would have mustered (well hey, it wasn't my food, but it could have been!), took her bowl to the counter. I, still fraught with confused laughter, listened intently as she asked her to please put it down, and if she would like a refund or another bowl. HOW ABOUT BOTH! However, my friend just got the new bowl (which they couldn't even manage to spare some more serving - how you going to be stingy with the ingredients for a decent bowl but not your stray hairs???). She soon returned and we continued eating, I continued poking around my food and assumed this was another blessing for being a nearly-consistent-vegetarian. Jah bless. But overall, besides the hair, this Chipotle was great. Visit, just watch what you're eating, or you might be swallowing someone else's DNA.
