With any franchise, the food tends to be the same, so the reviews I write focus on franchise specific details. Service here is good, but it maybe because they top load on rice. I got a burrito bowl the other night. It was the end if the day so you'd think they'd want to get rid of the food they were about to throw out. Instead, I got about a pound of rice and a smallish to normal amount of chicken, salsa, and guacamole (actually, probably more than a pound, I ended up eating all the good stuff off of the rice because I was curious and the resulting bowl was quite heavy). I'm not going to say, "skimped on the chicken - 1 star!", but missing out on opportunities to treat someone special 5 minutes from close means you're within the range of regular rather than great. Parking in tenleytown is never my favorite activity (third only to trying to park by Logan Circle and U St respectively) so I can't see myself going back here except under the same circumstances (after work nearby). read more

I ordered online over the mobile app because I wanted to grab it and go when I get to chipotle. When I get three at the time set for pickup they don't have the food ready. They tell me they lost our order and they are going to have to remake it. I ended up waiting 30 minutes, it would have been quicker if I just walked in and ordered normally. read more

I just don't understand. They NEVER include the salad dressing when you order online. Never. If I'm the one to pick up the order, I usually ask if it's in there (it's not) and they give me attitude for even questioning it. After all, this is Chipotle so you can't go that wrong. I always get a salad bowl with softitas and am always happy with the quality. It is a busy location so my only gripe is that they run out of thing sometimes. They often run out of chips near the end of the day. It can be a bit annoying when the store remains open for two more hours and they don't make more chips. If it was 15 minutes to closing I would totally understand but not two hours. I realize that I am totally just whining, But it is actually because I like their chips so much. So In a way it is a complement. Viva la chips. If you do get the salad bowl, I recommend adding a little bit of lettuce on top at the end so that it does not stick to the top of the aluminum container. read more

Limited and tight parking (opt for the street, if there is a space). Small/limited eating area. Efficient and quick food preparers. Line moves pretty quickly. Adequate amount of each option chosen (not too heavy handed and not too light). If in the area and wanting Chipotle and walking ok. Otherwise, if driving, opt for another location. read more

Got the 1/2 steak and 1/2 chicken bowl. Steak was grilled medium which I liked. Ordered online and was ready to go when I got there. They were plentiful with their servings of all the sides. Bowl tasted good like every chipotle should be. Plenty of seating if you are planning on eating there. Also has its own parking lot! A good chipotle overall, and super convenient location! read more

First, the positives about this location: The burritos they make here are excellent, and the employees who prepare the food are super friendly and helpful. The person who runs the register is also such a sweetheart, always smiling and happy to hear how my day is. However, there's a couple downsides to this location. First, the place is slow. Quite slow. The lines often get long, and the wait can be a little obnoxious. The employees would do well to speed up a little bit. Second, they have got to fix that soda machine. The water lever has been broken for almost two months now, and it's such a pain every time I go in. A tiny fix like that shouldn't require two months to have taken care of. We go here because the location and parking are convenient to our apartment, but there's probably other Chipotles around that are better. read more

Compared to other Chipotle locations, this place can be rather slow. I think they just might need to open up a second register station or something, because the employees who actually make the food are ridiculously fast - maybe too fast, considering that there's only the one register station, as it creates a backlog where the first few employees are hollering at people still in line to start their food even though they're not even up to the station yet. HOWEVER, the food is top-notch. Everything always appears to be quite fresh (and you can see it in the steak, as some days, it's fantastic, and other days, it's a wee-bit-too-spicy, so it's clearly being made daily), and the employees are always really good about restocking their toppings as soon as they get too low. I've never once had to miss one of my toppings, even though the place is always packed to the brim. I get a burrito bowl every time and have never once been disappointed in the quality. That's something I love about the Chipotle brand in general! read more

I had a very pleasant interaction with this Chipotle location. I am an attorney with KIND (Kids In Need of Defense), a non-profit legal services organization. This passed weekend, June 4, 2016 specifically, the organization held a legal clinic at American Univeristy across the street to help members of the community with legal issues they are facing. I reached out to Chipotle for donations of any food they could give and they answered the call without hesitation. I arrived to pick up the order around noon and was met with the most compassionate manager and crew. There is not enough I can say about this Chipotle location. I have been here twice. The first time I asked for carnitas and I don't know what the heck that crumble mess the gave me was. I always order carnitas at the one in Capitol Hill and it's shredded. The second time i request chicken. When I got to work I realized they had given me the wrong bowl. My luck break was over to I was stuck with a vegetarian bowl that I had no interest in. I've been to nearly every Chipotle in DC. They are not all made the same. This Chipotle is the best I've ever been to. The employees are extremely pleasant - always smiling, friendly, and upbeat. Most importantly, they are VERY GENEROUS with the portions. I am consistently blown away by their ability to fit that foil top on my burrito bowl (there have been some close calls). I had a very large order of 50 individual meals and I needed them ready the following day by 12:00PM. They allowed me to email the order to them to make the process easier. I arrived the next day to find ALL of the orders were completed on time! The young lady in charge of coordinating our order even helped us to the car with our meals. Despite the rush order, they all handled themselves very pleasant. The food itself was prepared exactly as ordered and was delicious. I couldn't be more happy with them!!! They never run out of food, they're very efficient when it comes to serving customers and doing the mobile orders, and above all they never over or under season their chips and guac. This place was my first restaurant outing in the States and I've to say my friend took me to an absolutely amazing place. The burrito is just so yummy that all I could say after finishing is 'wow'. I'm normally a big fan of Chipotle but we just went at noon on Saturday and was disappointed at every step. It unlike most had parking but the spots and lot itself very narrow. Then come in to find out they were out of white rice and carnitas. Then the 2nd employee helping us had to have every everything repeated to her from everyone around us in line and it wasn't even very loud environment at that time, as well told us carnitas would be ready in a little bit only to find out it was going to be 15 minutes. Terrible distribution of components in my burrito per usual of any chipotle and it was the worst I ever had from this chain, the chicken was crazy dry, the brown rice was poorly prepared, and the person i was with steak was bland. read more

I'd go with 3.5 stars if possible, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt after surviving college partially due in part to the jolly McDonald's-owned burrito haven. There is nothing wrong with eating a burrito the size of a new-born baby, especially when you know exactly what's going in to it. Yes, it's a chain, and yes it's owned by the McOverlords, but there are many pluses. First, this location much like all of the others has varied seating locations, and there's always room to it in no matter how busy it seems. They keep a good pace, even at the busiest times, so while you may be standing in line the second you open the door, it won't take you too long to get down to business. Second, you are "in control" of the burrito making process. You go down the line deciding between the following: burrito/tacos/bowl/salad, beans(black or pinto)/peppers and onions, steak/chicken/pork, any additional elements (including corn, a few different salsas, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, guac (guac costs extra, but is good if you NEED it). Also, you can see all of these ingredients being freshly prepared in the kitchen behind you. Then it's time to pay after you witness the process of your burrito being made step-by-step. Want a beer (Corona, Negro Modelo, etc.)? Chips? Extra guac? Let them know and they'll throw it in. Third, they LOVE bulk orders for the office or a party. Plus, whoever gets stuck picking it up gets their burrito for free. Fourth, being one of a few observant (kinda) Jews during passover, the burrito bowl (or bol) minus all of the non-passover-type items is a great alternative to matzah and gefilte fish all week. So a great atkins/diet option too. Fifth, of course, is the food is good! You can see and taste the quality, and it's nice to know you're not ingesting dog-food or worse quality fare. Standard gas risks apply as with any Mexican food. One minus is that they used to give students a free fountain soda with student ID. When they unceremoniously ended this, there was a major uproar - I'm not kidding. If you can handle a burrito in one sitting and be able to walk not long after, kudos to you. One of my friends actually orders 2 (!!!!!), has 1.5 for dinner, and saves the second half for lunch the next day. I'm glad he doesn't work in my office, especially on those days. read more

Unfortunately the new staff there are rude and unpleasant and when you ask for something it always seems to be an inconvenience to them. This is disheartening because it wasn't always like this. When I ask for something on the side of an additional item (this has happened on multiple occasions) it comes with eye rolling or an attitude which should not occur in customer service. I really do like Chipotle! The atmosphere is nice and so is the decor. Very casual yet fun. I love how quick it is. But what is amazing is how you can see with your very own eyes that everything is mostly fresh. Most fast food places kitchens are hidden so you never know how they're making it. Last week I placed an order through the app an hour ahead of time. I picked it up and it was 100% cold, and I completely believe it was made as soon as I placed the order. This week, I placed the order 20 min ahead of time at the earliest available time for pick up. I got there 2 min before the promised time. It was not made. I waited almost 15 minutes for it to be made in the back room. I ordered ahead of time to avoid the line because I don't want to be late to class. I took my order, got into my car, drove to class. I opened my order in class and it was not my order. It had a completely different name on top of the bowl lid, but my name on the paper bag. I couldn't go back to the store because I will be in class for the next three hours. I can't eat the food that was given to me, so I paid almost $10 for absolutely nothing. read more

Damn, my chipotle bowl was nasty as shit this evening. That's crazy because I'm normally a big fan of chipotle. Man whaaat! The rice was mad salty omfg, whoever was back there so call cooking the rice straight ruined it. IT WAS POORLY PREPARED! I mean my gosh, every bite i took was downright awful, YUCK! Dude was trying raise my blood pressure to the highest levels. The rice was so disgusting I couldn't even finish my bowl. On top of this the service was awful. The darkskin dude with no shape up had to have everything repeated to him and it wasn't even a loud environment. I was like boy if you don't get cha......!!!!! Smhhhh.... I decided to approach weight loss via the non-infectious route, so I took a hiatus from Chipotles for a few months. I made a gamble with my GI tract and returned this past weekend, and I was promptly disappointed. This location was nearly empty at lunch time (seemed like everyone was at the Cava a couple of doors down), yet was almost completely out of carnitas. They were scrapping the bottom of the pan and then tried to give me half carnitas and half chicken in my burrito. It tasted odd, especially since bottom-of-the-pan meat is dry. Service was also not great. I don't expect white glove service at Chipotles but please try not to look like you despise me for entering the establishment. read more

I went right before rush hour and it seems like their management is lacking. The employees dont know how to roll their burritos and the burritos just fall apart when you open it. Its not a bad thing if you want a lot of food because they give generous portions no matter what you get.
