This was our first time ordering from this location,as my husband and I have just moved to the area, and let's just say it was thoroughly disappointing. We spent $30 on a bowl and a burrito and the chicken was black, boarder line charcoal and stone cold. I legit couldn't even eat the bowl because it was practically inedible. They started to make my bowl without paying attention to what I said I wanted in it. They were just dumping random ingredients in it. When I said that wasn't what I wanted, the woman with the blonde ponytail decided to remake it and then did EXACTLY THE SAME THING!!! They skimped on the cheese and gave my kid a half-wrapped burrito with filling coming out of it. They don't have any spoons, someone dumped soda in the forks, and they can't be bothered to give us silverware, so I guess I'm supposed to eat the bowl with my hands. This review is along time coming. I've had so many bad experiences here over the years but yet we still kept going back. Only because it's the only one on the NW side of Wichita. Chipotle on Maize Road (Wichita, KS) is consistently awful and clearly poorly managed. The staff is extremely slow, disengaged, and unmotivated. There is never more than one person working the food line and if so they work just as slow, even when the restaurant is packed. Everyone else stands around moving at a sloth-like pace while customers wait. They are constantly out of food. Why?! Refusing to "make sour cream" at 8:30 PM when they're open until 10-11 PM is dumb.. that's your job. Even the cooks move painfully slow, causing long waits every visit. We recently waited 30 minutes for a to-go order that was never made. The place was full of people waiting, and only then were we told they were out of rice. No apology. No solution. Another time we waited 10 minutes for fresh carne asada, only for the employee to ignore the fresh batch behind her and scoop older meat from the to-go line instead. Completely pointless!! To-go orders are always skimpy, with very little meat. Full price for half portions. The restaurant is never clean..dirty tables and overflowing trash cans. And if you ask for a refund, they can't do it in-store. You're told to call 1-800-Chipotle, where gift cards aren't refunded..only food vouchers and customer service representatives you can't understand! Someone needs to be in charge of taking care of the dining area!!! The app still shows that my food has not been started yet. This location is probably one of the highest volume locations in town. They should probably staff it more appropriately. We went to a quick family lunch. We walked in as an announcement was made and did not hear what was said. When we were giving our orders, the employee rudely stated "I already announced we were out of chicken". Then repeated the same attitude throughout our entire service. Eh. Could have went better. One thing that was hurtful early was the staff didn't do a very good job of beating back the crowd. The wait time with a long line was 23 minutes - which I'm fine with but the staff seemed to let the crowd get them off their game- and there was no real sense of urgency in terms of getting people through the line and out the door. In terms of cleanliness, things looked fine out on the floor and in the seating area, but with the crowd- the topping area for the staff was very sloppy and looking into the cooking area things were everywhere and really sloppy looking. I got the bowl with tortilla in the bottom- chicken, fajitas, mild, corn, sour, cheese, lettuce, just the fountain drink, thank you. In terms of food and the chicken- the cuts of chicken was the biggest I have seen at any chipotle. Ever. I'm always down for some Chipotle! It is a store away from Starbucks, so it was a nice study break to go enjoy a bowl. We ordered a chicken and fajita bowl from their online app, and it took ~10 minutes for it to be prepared and ready to pick-up. Unlike most locations I've been to, they gave such a generous amount of chicken and toppings that our bowl was packed! Here's the scoop on this Chipotle, The Good: all items stocked even during rush hour, all items fresh, all items cooked correctly including the rice which some Chipotle undercooked rice, pleasant and helpful staff helped me choose my dish based on what they thought were the best items. The Bad: more expensive than Qdoba, guacamole is extra charge(Qdoba it's usually free), homeless person outside. I'd say this is an above average Chipotle. It's clear that they're understaffed and leverage less headcount for multiple roles. The person running the register is also currently handling online orders. So it just bottlenecks the line. I have my chipotle craving every now and then. Today happened to be one of those days. A quick, easy, and healthy (depending on how you customize your order) meal. This location can get really busy with the line wrapping around the store, so I tend to order on their website to avoid the line. This location in particular always cook their protein perfectly and has the freshest toppings! They also tend to load your bowl, filling it to the brim, which is really nice as some chipotles skimp out on the base, protein, and toppings. Good, friendly service. An area for improvement: Restrooms could be cleaner. read more
