We love the kid's Bowl Free experience and hope they recoup money by participating in the program. I wanted to make sure we ordered food since we didn't pay for bowling. I was really hungry but I just ordered a piece of pizza because everything was really expensive and hadn't tried their food before. I didn't have high expectations but for the price of a piece of cheese pizza and soda at $10 I would have hoped it was decent... it was really awful. Have been to this location off and on throughout the years of living here in foco. In the summers they run the kids bowl free program and you could rent shoes for relatively inexpensively so while my kids were younger we came here a fair amount in summer times. While i was growing up my best friends family came to bowling league here and i came here to hang out with her off and on. Recently i came in for a girl scout winter party. Unfortunately for us the weather was bad and we had to switch plans from ice skating to bowling. Right now, you need to reserve a lane. We did that online prior to the party and pre-paid for it. I guess they were having some kind of party that night and our large group got sandwiched in between 2 small groups even though lanes were open all over the place on the other side of the building. So it felt a bit cramped. The front desk folks were friendly. The location was mostly clean. I am not much of a bowler but if i get a hankering again we will come back. read more

I decided to reserve a lane online for 6 of my friends. We showed up and there was people next to our lane that were extremely rude and wouldn't stop yelling at us for literally bowling too close to them. I was sick of the drama so I decided to go get a beer. The bartender Sean was really cool and genuine. I went back to the lane and the people continued to yell at us so I decided to take it to one of the staff members Kyle. Kyle decided to gift us another game and gave us a couple of game cards since our visit started off so awful. Thanks to the staff my friends and I had a great time. I have been bowling for more than 75% of my life. I started at the age of 6 and recently went back after a 11 year break. Yes 11 years!!! Our visit to Chippers was very unexpected. We went to Fort Collins to visit family and was looking for something fun to do. I was impressed with their arcade that's located inside the bowling alley along with laser tag. My 4 year old daughter loved the games. I think a dollar a game is expensive so she didn't pay very much. Laser tag would have been fun but we didn't have time. Thanks Chippers! read more

I don't think more than 2 out of the 6 employees I saw, actually work. It's hard to get service here. Definitely could be better. There were two male employees that were helpful, the bar staff was absent but were helpful when they were there. The one girl who, I'm guessing, was supposed to be of help at the main desk was just sitting at the bar not paying attention to customers.... Also The bowling balls leave a lot of oil or wax on your fingers idk, halfway through our bowling hour the balls were just slipping out of my hands. Chippers is great. I bowl here quite often as a student, and it's really nice lanes. On Thursdays they have the three for three, and Mondays are 50% off, so they have pretty good deals. But the fact that my girlfriend and I paid $50 for two games and shoes on Saturday is ridiculous. I know that its a Saturday, and more people are going to bowl, but the fact that theyre upcharging families looking to do something on a Saturday is insane. Again, staff, lanes and atmosphere is amazing, but the price gouging is crazy. I would definitely come a different day and spend your money elsewhere. read more

Go on Thursdays if you want cheap beer. Friday night is cheap bowling, but you won't find a pitcher for less that $13. Compared to Thursdays, with $5 pitchers. This place is your great prototypical bowling joint. If you've been to any bowling joint, you've probably been to chippers. They have upscale joints, but Chippers is down for the middle class experience. Pizza is acceptable, no where near Arte's or George's quality, but tasty none the less. Chicken wings are boneless, but not bad. Fries are delicious, dark cut. Go enjoy yourself! read more

Rude to the kids, rude to me when I asked for water cups, rude when I brought up the empty water jugs to him instead of leaving them out for him to pick up himself. Tough times in the bowling industry? I guess so... We had the unfortunate experience of checking out Chipper's Lanes today. Any of the positives about the establishment were quickly rendered inconsequential when my wife -- carrying a bottle of water as many Coloradans do -- was asked to put her bottle back in the car. Surprised, she said, "It's only water," to which the management pointed to a sign indicating that no outside food or beverages were allowed. Including water. No water? In Colorado? In 101 degrees? I'd have left then and there if our 5 & 8 year old kids weren't so excited about bowling. What to do if you're thirsty and it's the hottest day in July? No worries! They'll gladly sell you a bottle of water for only $1. Of course, I had FREE water when I showed up, but that's not allowed inside. This place wants so badly to make money on thirsty patrons that you have to return your own bottle of water to your car and buy theirs. I consoled myself with the fact that kids are supposed to get two free games each day over the summer. Imagine my surprise as I approached the counter after we finished our games and was charged $30 for the four of us for two games. See, they advertise "two free games per child per day!" but upon arrival you notice that this deal is only available if you "pre-register" online. No problem, you say. I have an iPhone. I'll just go online and register from the parking lot then get my bowling on! Sad day for you, my friend, because in order to get the discount, a "printed receipt is required." So unless you have a portable printer in your car, you are SOL. Fortunately, they did accept a coupon we had for a free game. So, yeah. We paid $30 for four pairs of shoes (in questionable condition) and ONE GAME. Thanks for making this the easiest review I've ever written. We will NOT be back at Chipper's. read more

Growing up in FoCo, this was the only bowling alley in town for a long time. I spent my junior high years playing in the winter leagues at this alley, and it has a special place in my heart. But going back now, it seems to have changed and doesn't have any charm anymore. The beer is wicked expensive ($15 a pitcher!) and the kitchen is only open for an hour every third Tuesday in April. They still have a good in-house shop for balls and equipment, but their prices are way too high compared to the choices the internet provides. The new computers make setting games up very easy, and the animations on your strikes and spares isn't super cheesy like some other alleys. read more

I'm a casual bowler at best; I probably bowl once every year or so. The last time I went it was at Chippers Lane on Horsetooth for the Fort Collins aboard of Realtors fundraising event. It was really fun. They have nice equipment, the shoes aren't nasty (like every other place I've been), and they have high-tech displays to help keep score and show novices like me the best places to throw your second ball. It's clean and fun, a nice place for families, dates, and large group events. If you don't know how to bowl, they are friendly and helpful. Now I need to try their lazar tag side. Chipper's lanes used to be an excellent place to spend a Sunday morning with $1 bowling and moderately well taken care of facilities. Unfortunately, they must have very recently taken on NEW MANAGEMENT, because it now more closely resembles a prison camp than a recreation center. The MANAGER LITERALLY PATROLLED the bowling ally waiting for you to do something wrong. Strike one occurred when he noticed I had a water bottle which the staff actively watched me fill up in the water fountain. I was told (not asked, told) to TAKE MY WATER BOTTLE OUTSIDE, because apparently they no longer allow customers to bring in "containers of any kind, empty or not." This would not be such a problem if they hadn't recently stopped allowing the bar tenders to serve water (they used to actually set out pitchers full of water for bowlers). So the only option for bowlers (and beach volleyball players!!!!) is to walk back and forth to the water fountain, or buy bottled water (how environmentally conscious). Denied my water bottle and frustrated by the principal, I decided to buy a pitcher of beer. The bar tender was like a ghost. You have to wait around and then pounce when she's actually behind the bar, and then she acts like pouring you a beer is a huge inconvenience. After ordering I realized I had forgotten my ID, so I told her I guess I won't be drinking thanks anyways and the two others in my party continued to buy the pitcher and get cups for themselves. While waiting, another in our party who is not 21 was sitting by the bar to watch the football game. He was told to leave the bar and we were told the pitcher was to be nowhere near me. She then told the manager the situation (that there were two of us without ID's), and he WATCHED US LIKE A HAWK the rest of the game. I have never found myself in a more uncomfortable situation while bowling! I will certainly not be back, but if you do go, keep an eye out for the "now hiring new WARDEN" sign! read more

The Tack room is the bar located inside Chippers Lanes bowling alley. If you enjoy drinking more than bowling, then this is the spot for you! It is a people watching smorgasbord of all ages and walks of life as well as a reminder that the 'high five' never goes out of style. Atmosphere: This bar is everything you expect it to be, being inside of a bowling alley. Most patrons are friendly and some too friendly, so beware of the touchy ones when engaging in conversation. While sitting in the bar area there is the sound of bowling pins and chatter which is calming in some way. The bar itself is dark, poorly decorated and no frills, but cozy none the less. Service: There is usually one bartender on duty who isn't very chatty but does his job, minimally. There is a server running back and forth from the bar into the bowling area to serve bowlers nonstop. Drinks: The bar is very basic and has 5 beers on tap, a few local and domestic. Not a very large selections of liquors to choose from, but the classics are all there. If you get there during happy hour, domestic beers are $3 and after 9pm $2. Food: The menu contains everything expected at a bowling alley such as appetizers, pizza slices, burgers, sandwiches, salads and machos from $3 to $7. They also have a kids menu so you can feed the kids while you grab a drink. The surprising part about the food is it is actually good, not healthy, but good. read more

After a cross country move and needing a break from unpacking, my boyfriend and I decided to scout out the local bowling alleys. Despite the lackluster reviews, we settled on this location and had a great time. It's your typical bowling alley, complete with bar, pro shop, arcade, and a sign advertising laser tag. Pricing was reasonable with the $10 unlimited bowling deal (Not sure I'd ever be ok paying the $46 during peak time, but it looked like they also have some type of loyalty club) Our bartender was great and drinks were cheap, making the 30 minute wait for a lane easy. Food seemed to be available, but we didn't investigate further. All in all, the service we got was great and the night was a success. We'll be back! read more

Booked a laser tag birthday party for my son and couldn't have been happier. The large party room was festive and decorated nicely. The hostess, (I can't remember her name) was fantastic! She made my son feel like he was king of the world. She even joined in on the laser tag and the kids enjoyed having her there. The pizza was great and they did have a gluten free option, which worked out for us. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to book another party here. read more
