This place is a scam they don't bill your insurance so they can rack up interest for the bill then pass those charges onto the customer. I would not recommend anyone use this place for dentist work. You call to dispute the charges and no one will call you back. read more

This office will nickel and dime you. From the $250 up front fee to the $2,000 out of pocket (after insurance) cost of treatment, to the $500 bill for late cancels. Oh and of course the CT scan no one asked for, for a TISSUE GRAPH not a mouth tumor. Get a second opinion from a doctor who cares less about the branded uniforms his employees wear and the fancy envelopes they send you home with. Full story - First off, let me start off by saying if you walk into a dental office and the office manager and a patient are arguing over money, run. That's how my visit started. I then was asked to pay $250 up front even though my insurance should cover the first appointment, (I assume this $250 was after insurance). I then was told I had to have a CT scan taken to tell me what is very clear, my bottom gums are receding which is why my dentist referred me, for a tissue graft. But sadly, Dr. Chilluli found a way to capitalize on this. Once this took place, he then sat me in a room with a giant screen of my mouth to show me once again what I already knew, and why my dentist recommended I see a periodontist. They way it was presented felt like "listen here you idiot" instead of here's the situation let me help offer a solution. Fast forward to the treatment plan. Dr insisted on a BONE graph in addition to the tissue graph. A bone graph which is not covered by insurance. I thought that was a red flag when I saw the price sheet telling me this would cost me $2,000 out of pocket AFTER INSURANCE. I was told by the staff after giving me this price tag that I wouldn't be able to book over the phone if I decided to wait but would need to COME back just to get this booked (insane). Oh and if you miss your appointment or cancel last minute they will charge $500. I ended up getting a second opinion from Dr. Cho in Bellevue and rather than insisting on taking my money she advised a completely different treatment option that was $200 out of pocket. DONT GO HERE. Long review, bring the popcorn or tea. This started in July. Everything is prepaid, felt like a dollar sign from the get go. It was a few hundred dollars to do a full mouth scan (not covered by insurance i guess) before I even met the doctor.. they asked for payment while sitting in the dentist chair. I was here with an infected tooth that needed removed and then we were going to do an implant. The only positive I can say is they were able to squeeze me in the next day because of my emergency. Which may also have been a bad idea in the end. They got me on antibiotics that night but it was not enough of a head start. It was so infected I couldn't stay numb. I felt the entire extraction and we had to keep stopping. I had no idea that could happen. Dr. Chiuilli was nice enough about it however said it was all in my head without actually saying it directly. He'd say stuff like the mind/brain is powerful. And described a study of a guy putting his hand behind his back then researchers poking a fake hand and he felt it. I told him I have another implant which was put in with me awake & no issues but it was not infected. We moved the implant for October. Later on by phone they called me & he insisted if i returned for the implant they wanted to sedate me and needeed to move my appt date as it'd take more time. I tried refusing saying it wont be an issue with infection gone. He's a bit condescending saying, "well we do a lot of implants". I'm sure thats true but I know my body. Come to find out later they wanted to move my appt as Dr would be out of state. Couldn't be honest with me on the real reason for moving my appt date and used needing to sedate me as a good excuse to reschedule. . Even my nurse friend was not surprised I couldn't stay numb. She said a hot tooth just burns thru anesthetic so fast which now it makes sense but you don't think of it until it happens to you. And I wasn't warned - I even said before we started I was nervous and they said what are you afraid of and I said I'm worried I won't stay numb. I CALLED IT! The other issue is office staff is a complete mess and their policy requires payment in full before they will work on you. I didn't think that'd be an issue because we planned to extract the tooth and do the implant post the same day but I couldn't tolerate the pain. I asked for immediate refund of overpayment and was told they can't do it that day. I asked for them to call me. A week or 2 went by nobody called. I can't count my # of phone calls and texts to them. Tooth extracted in July and I just only recently in February finished getting paid back what I was owed. Office staff is a nightmare, quoted me wrong refund amount of $300 when I knew I was owed thousands. I'd ask for a refund and they'd make comments like, "well dont you want the implant". At first I did but I paid on care credit & i didn't want to start the clock on a 6 month deadline of paying something in full that i havent received. They don't pick up the phone or return all voicemails. Then if i got someone on the phone she'd say ill have our accountant call you but she's also a hygienist so she's busy. So I started doing credit card disputes, found in my favor. At first the office refused to mail me a check because of mail theft reasons but ultimately they did mail it after I contacted them via email. I don't think they wanted to see me in person and the feeling is mutual. I will not be returning there to get my implant. You couldn't give it to me for free. read more

Don't ask questions or complain about anything or you'll be treated like dirt. They never billed my insurance company for over three years! My last dental cleaning was a joke and when I asked questions the doctor asked me if that was the dental hygienist that he fired. How would I know that? Three failed dental implants in the same spot. The last one was placed by a tooth that was no good and needed to come out and finally did, as they were taking out the infected implant! Once they told me to wait until the weekend was over before taking a infected implant out and I ended up in the hospital! This one lady who assisted the doc during surgery's treated and talked to me like I was a child. Their prices keep going up every visit and every employee who worked with the previous periodontist who Retired has left! And last but not least don't be mistaken these people are not your family! You are just a number! My heart was very hurt the way they treated me the last time I was there! They would also not give me ANY of my records so I could bring them to my new doctor! March 3, 2022, I, Marjorie G. Campbell, went to Dr. M. Chiulli DDS of Tacoma, Wash. for a consultation for a gum recession problem. After examining me, he told me that I had an infection on one of my teeth and it needed to be extracted and then put an implant. He told me that this was urgent and that I had to make an appointment immediately to have that tooth removed. This was really sudden. I came to him to check on a receding gum line on a different tooth, and he wanted me to do a tooth removal on another tooth. I don't know why I agreed to sign a paper work for the surgery that was to take place on March 10, 2022. The cost was more than $4,400.00 and I had to pay right away over there with my credit card. When I left his office and got in my car, I had a second thought about it and called repeatedly  to cancel it, but no one picked the phone up. So I called the next day, March 4, 2022 and after two hours of trying to call, finally I was able to talk to them but only to be told that they would charge me $500.00 for a cancelation. WOW! They just scheduled me for less than 16 hours ago and the surgery was one week away. I argued with a woman named Ashley who was very rude and refused to hear me. I asked to talk to Dr. Chiulli himself. I explained to him that I had a second thought about the surgery because I needed to see another dentist for a second opinion. I thought he agreed to let go of the ridiculous and unjust $500.00 cancelation fee but on Monday, they sent me a check to refund my money but taking more than $500.00 off. CRAZY! So I sent that check back to him and asked him to do the right thing by refunding me the whole amount that they charged me. I have not heard anything back from him so I disputed this charge with my Bank. BEWARE OF THIS DR. CHIULLI. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO HIM AGAIN AND ADVICE OTHERS TO STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!! read more

This office will charge you for an appointment if you don't cancel it within 24 hours NO MATTER WHAT. That's their first problem. Secondly Dr. Chihuili will do unnecessary procedures and he charges exorbitant prices!! Horrible people read more

I would recommend anyone and everyone to see Dr. Chiulli and his team. They are fantastic! I went through cancer treatment and am thankful that the treatment saved my life. However due to radiation and chemo I have a lot of bone loss and gum loss. Dr. Chiulli put me on a fantastic treatment plan that has actually started bone growth in my mouth and my teeth and gums are feeling so much better. I have had to have a couple implants and bone grafts. Gail Love is by far the best hygienist I've ever known and since I've had periodontal issues for decades, I have my teeth cleaned a lot. You might say I have experience in this area. I'm a white knuckle patient. Gail is sensitive to my fears and to the sensitive areas in my mouth. She applies a generous coat of Shea butter to my lips to prevent chapping. I was referred to Dr Chiulli by my dentist. I have been to both offices (Tacoma and Puyallup) and they are clean and up to date. This group runs a close-knit tight ship. Even though I was hoping to keep my tooth, I couldn't but I appreciated their efforts. Dental decisions are not always easy and I felt confident in Dr Chiulli having my best interest in mind for the best possible outcome. I was expecting this procedure to last a couple hours or more but only was about 1-1.5 hrs max. They did this procedure like clockwork, super professional, super clean, super attentive and super knowledgeable. They made everything that was going to happen crystal clear before we stared and ended with q & a's and what's next. At the appointment I had where we decided for surgery I had a sit down with staff for consultation at a desk and went over all the costs and what I was responsible for and my insurance. I left with a folder with all that information to take home not really taking all that in at that moment. I only had a consultation here, but what I experienced thus far led me to want to share. First, let me begin by stating the positives. The facility was modern and clean. The staff was very friendly. I had my 1yo with me and they were very laid back and welcomed her as much as myself. Dr Chiulli was extraordinarily nice (I'm an RN and have had my fair share of dealing with Drs), however, I cannot comment on his work. Now, let me dive into why I won't do business here. When I called to schedule an appointment, which was a referral from my primary dentist, they did not mention that the cost of a consultation was going to be $200. Yes, I should have asked, but that's a pretty hefty price for the receptionist not to at least mention. About a month after my consultation, I get a letter from my insurance that they would only pay half of the consultation fee. So I call the office to get a due date for the balance. They said that it was showing a negative balance, since I had to pay for their special 3D x-ray (which they charged me $105 the day of and they also submitted it to insurance to see if they could get more $$, hopefully to credit my account since it was already paid for), and they were in the process of mailing out invoices the following week. Well I get my invoice, which had a nice "Second Notice" stamped on it, funny because it was my first, and an extra $15 bucks tacked on to the balance. There wasn't any info as to why this charge was added. Well the following week I go in and they explain that after a balance has been sitting for +30 days, they add a "finance charge." Um, remember when I called and asked about my balance? Yeah she could have mentioned that little tidbit of information. I explain to them that I had called weeks before, blah blah blah, and she tells me that I had to pay the $116 that was due so it wouldn't accrue any more charges since they are waiting for insurance to pay. Hello! They already did! They finally saw that and the charge was removed and I paid the balance owed. Long story short, ask for prices and fees BEFORE! I feel like they were not open with their pricing. They had scheduled a second consultation when I had my first to go over all all the info and x-rays again, but at $200 a pop, I quickly cancelled that. Is this typical for periodontists? I hope not. :( RESPONSE 1/10/18: I read the business owner's response. If you read my review at all, you will catch his mistakes in his reply. Examples: -I had a one YEAR old, not month old. She behaved beautifully throughout the consultation. -The first notice received was a second notice. I called their office a couple of weeks before I ever received a notice because I didn't want to wait to pay and they said I had a negative balance, meaning I had credit on my account, and were waiting for insurance to clear their part before mailing out statements. Never did I wait months to pay a bill. On the contrary, I wanted to pay it as quickly as I could. So his statement there is wrong. -And the fact that he assumes my life is stressful is a joke. I'm a stay-at-home mom to a smart and beautiful girl. I was a working RN before. I don't know him personally nor does he know me well enough to make that bold and uncalled for statement. Either way, be it a "mom and pop" shop as he calls it, just make sure you keep close tabs on exactly what you owe and when your bill is due. Don't wait for a letter from them to pay the bill. All around an amazing experience! When I called to schedule an appointment, the lady I spoke with was so kind and answered all of my questions! I was wondering what my cost would be for the initial exam and she offered to check on that and give me a call back! If that isn't VIP service, then I am not sure what is!
