I have had a long history with Chloe Massage Spa, aka Chioma, dating back many years. When her work is at its best, it can be incredibly effective--she has a strong skill set and has provided real relief during times when I was in significant physical pain. That is what brought me back more than once. However, consistency and professionalism have been ongoing concerns. Early on, I had an experience where I was left waiting outside late in the evening for an appointment, during a time when I had a newborn at home and very limited availability for self-care. More recently, I also experienced a shift in our interactions that left me feeling uncomfortable during a session, ultimately leading me to end the appointment early. There were also challenges around scheduling and payment expectations that resulted in my appointments being cancelled and services discontinued. I share this to offer a full and honest picture: there is real talent here, but the overall experience did not feel reliably professional or client-centered. Wow my jaw my life it's completely changed Jaw dropping One of the most amazing all around spa days I have ever had Tea, food, reiki, deep tissue, hot towels, yoga, offered me a full day of luxury and pampering, I can not wait to drop back into the spa with this very talented practitioner! There is no other body worker like this in the world let alone LA! She is very skilled and trained Emotionally supportive! I worked with Chioma after I had my first child. I was having awful hip and back pain from my pregnancy and honestly thought that it wasn't fixable and that this was just the new painful body I had to live with. After just one combination package of 6 sessions, the pain I thought would be there forever was gone. I also really love how in depth she goes to understand what is uniquely happening with your body. She educates you on what she is finding and how you can do better for yourself. People who can give a massage are everywhere, but I believe it quite rare to find someone that will give you real insight on how your body works and what is actively happening with it. I am not sure what all the other reviews are about but none of them are accurate. She is a terrible massage therapist. Her deep tissue massage does not really work for me. She operates her business from her home and it was not very professional looking and not what I expected and felt uncomfortable the whole time. I started working with Chioma last October after experiencing back spasms-- what I was hoping for was for my back spasms to go away and never come back (so far so good). What I got was so much more than that. Working with Chioma has provided me with a different life than I had before-- through movement and deep bodywork, this work with her has released trapped information in my body, which is giving me a greater body of information that helps me have a more full understanding of the world. This review is long overdue. When I found Chioma, I was suffering excruciating back pain from sports injuries beyond the help of the basic massage. After a examining my posture, flexibility, and movement, she taught me a personalized routine of exercises and stretches to increase my core, balance, and flexibility. Best massage I've had in years! Chloe's skill and expertise is apparent before she even begins, as she makes it a priority to be communicative and understanding about what is going on with your body and what needs to be accomplished during the massage. Once she begins, every moment of the experience felt to the core. She can be intense in a very good way if needed (which I did, my body was bound in knots that needed serious unwinding) but she is also very aware of the pressure and methods she is using and communicates regularly to make sure you are comfortable. She is also soothing and gentle in a skillful way that compliments her strength. One thing that sets her apart from other masseuses is her knowledge and application of physical therapy techniques. I have some injuries that have been causing problems for me, and she was able to stretch and massage and work with me in a manner that helped the injuries far beyond what I have accomplished with doctors and my own stretching. She even taught me multiple ways to help stretch and improve my stiffness. I highly recommend her if your body is 'jacked up' (as I described it on the form she gave me), you are experiencing tension from injuries new or old, or if you simply just need a good massage on a regular basis. Chloe offers a lot of different types of body work, but I wanted a deep-tissue and that's exactly what I got. She knew how to go amazingly deep, but was always sensitive to my limits. I had a terrible pain in my back and shoulders from sitting at my computer. When I went to see Chioma, she used cupping and moxa therapy. While I was skeptical at first, never using either technique before I was certainly impressed with how immediate the pain relief was. She also helped with straightening my neck and the curvature of my spine from bad posture. By doing pelvic stretches on each hip and opening up my core, we corrected years of neglect. With her guidance and professional advice, I was able to not only live pain-free but learned how to prevent this injury from reoccurring again. She also helped me select a back brace to use while sitting at my desk. What can I say? This was exactly what I needed. I went for the 90 minute deep tissue and ended up combining that with sports massage to work out a pulled muscle that was fighting me. Most bodywork I've had out here is done with such a light touch. Bring on the pain! I want to feel it after it's over. I have never written a review of any business before, not because they weren't good at what they did but mostly because I am extremely busy and free time is for my family - not writing reviews. However the massage I received from Chloe was so far and above the normal massage that she is truly worth my time. It's always awkward getting a massage from someone you don't know. You open the door, are they going to be strange, smell bad, or as is usually the case do an adequate job. This was not the case with Chloe. I found Chloe in Yelp in a moment of desperation when my back was hurting so bad I thought I would throw it out. She was able to see me right away and I ended up booking subsequent sessions with her. She is very thorough and attentive to each persons body. She gave me stretches and exercises with a foam roller to do in between our sessions. There are people who practice massage and there are true bodywork healers. Chloe is the latter. Not only does she have a strong, intuitive touch, but she does a thorough assessment of your body prior to getting started and is clear and communicative about what movements can be done to prevent the same tensions from building up again. Not only did the massage feel amazing, but the tweaked areas I came in have completely melted away and I feel a new sense of awareness and lightness around my posture and alignment.
