Average. I don't think the chocolate is anything special, but they do have some interesting combinations. On a side note, they claim to use real piñon, but that is a LIE. They do NOT use piñon, they use pine nuts. Any native New Mexican can tell the difference. Pine nuts are so bland. I can't stand when someone claims to use piñon, when in fact they're using cheaper pine nuts. For this reason I won't be back. read more

I love this place solely for his creation called "Zozobra" which is like an ingenious twist on Oreos and Rice Krispy treats... He makes a marshmallowy treat with Oreos instead of rice crispies. Plus, he uses real chocolate in his coffee drinks instead of that syrup in a pump bottle junk. read more

This is one of my favorite places by far. The service is incredible, and the variety of chocolates is really good too. The staff is amazing, they are always in a good mood, smiling and wiling to answer questions bout their products. The environment is great to, really good music (sometimes with live musicians), the room is full of art pieces, and everything is about chocolate. It is amazing. If you have the chance to go there and eat the cherries covered with chocolate, do it. Great great experience. read more

Came to this spot while visiting New Mexico for the first time. We got some fudge and dog treats, best choice ever. We also sampled other things but the fudge was definitely the best. Our pups loved their new doggy treats, which is always a plus. Good ambience and chill environment. read more

i'm afraid i'm a dark chocolate snob: even when i'm having a bad craving, i won't eat hershey's milk chocolate (*maybe* a special dark). but if i need a quick fix, this place is fine for that. service is friendly + lots of stuff to choose from (i stick to the dark choc almond lobos (like a turtle, but with almonds), which run about $2 per piece). in terms of quality + taste of dark choc, i still prefer see's. in case anyone's interested, my fave dark choc in the world is from munson's choc in CT. read more

Chocolate Dude has a ton of options, both classic and creative chocolates. What is almost more impressive is the service. We had left without one of the chocolates we had purchased and the girl chased us a block down the street to ensure we left with all of our items. She easily could have let us go without that chocolate and said "oh well" but she didn't. We also saw her interacting with a young girl before and she helped her pick out some fun chocolates (chocolate covered gummy bears!!). Chocolate Dude is family friendly and reasonably priced - highly recommend making a trip here! read more

yummmmm! Love this place. My husband & I stopped in after finding them on yelp! (on Valentines day). They had a great selection of chocolate! I was craving chocolate covered strawberries and this place hit the spot. My husband was excited because he got a peanut covered carmel apple. It was nice, they offered to cut it for us. After seeing the Chocolate Dude sign go up above the store I was intrigued! A few mornings later I took a walk down to Nob Hill to peek through the window and was waived in. I was the first customer on the first day they opened! I spoke with one of the owners (you can see him represented in his sign) and he was so friendly and down to earth, what a treat! I purchased a dark cashew lobo and a latte. MMMMMMM heaven on earth! Weeks later, (today), I went back and enjoyed the additions to the store: lamps, more seating, etc. and of course purchased a whole lot more chocolate. What a great place to "pop" into to pick up some treats, or to sit back and enjoy the fruits of these guys' hard labor. Lucky us!!! read more

This place is amazing! I love their chocolate covered potato chips especially. They make the best chocolate. The environment is much like that of a coffee shop, but, instead of coffee, it's chocolate. The interior design is 60's theme, so it's a nice place to go and chill. read more

This place gets a five star review from me for one reason: the hot chocolate. Not since I've moved back from the east coast have I encountered hot chocolate done the way the chocolate dude serves it. Melted chocolate (white, dark or milk) with steamed milk. It is amazing, and more than makes up for a somewhat generic selection of chocolates. read more

The Dude will always be a five star Chocolatier to me. Just the smell alone as I walk into the front door makes me happy. Then the glance around the place to notice the stuffed Scooby Doo, nostalgia lunch boxes from the day, and cases of what I call "designer" caramel apples, immediately brings out the giddy kid in me. I can't wait to make that first chocolate or non chocolate decision of sweets. But now the tough part, decision time. Chocolate with pinion, pistachio, peanuts, .........Fudge, German chocolate fudge, peanut butter fudge , it goes on an on. Oh I have to stop myself, I am beyond the craving stage, thank goodness I pre plan and bring plenty home. It is always an extra treat when you stop by and they are making the chocolate right behind the counter. It is fun to watch and the smell is even more amazing. This is the one place I always think of and make it a point to stop by when I am anywhere near. Oh I do love you Chocolate Dude! read more
