I blinked and half the roof was already stripped. Blinked again, and there was a brand new roof staring back at me like, "You're welcome." The work was thorough, like, surgical precision but make it roof tiles kind of thorough. I watched as old, worn-out tiles gave way to clean underlayment, like a snake shedding its skin to become a much better-insulated, leak-proof version of itself. They navigated tricky valleys, ventilation pipes, and multiple pitches with a kind of grace I didn't think was possible for construction. They cover Cottonwood, Sedona, the Verde Valley, even all the way up to Flagstaff and Prescott. So wherever you are in Northern Arizona, Nick's your guy. Ordering the custom Velux units ended up taking longer than anyone anticipated--a manufacturer delay, not Nick's fault--but he kept me updated every step of the way. Once the skylights arrived, he scheduled the install quickly, measured each opening to the millimeter, and flashed and sealed them so tight there's no chance of a drip. He hauled away all the old materials, swept the yard, and left no mess behind. Nick was upfront about pricing from the start, answered every question (even late at night), and never slipped in surprise charges. My only disappointment at completion was the appearance of the mud balls that had to be used to avoid leakage in places. I contacted them to see what could be done and they were able to paint them, which looks a lot better. My suggestion to future customers is to discuss your preference regarding concerns like that prior. Staining the mortar to match the tiles could insure they look nicer over the long run and also asking them to trowel the balls down a little flatter to blend in with the tile height would help hide them better. The crew was very efficient, polite and brave to be working on a house that drops off a cliff 3+ stories high.

At then end of the day, no matter how you stack it, Heritage charged me $3500 for what amounted to two people spending less than two hours on my roof. They really only needed to spend an hour, but I insisted they do some extra promised work. Heritage held their ground, demand that I adhere to the contract and pay what accounts to a labor rate of $750 per hour or so. Absurd. A good contractor would have concluded -- "Hey, we didn't need to do as much as we though, we can save you some money". I'm quite sure if they needed to do extra work, they would have charged me more. As far as I can tell, they are just behaving as over priced brokers -- better to reach out to the actual people doing the work. I wouldn't use them again, personally.
