I had some fillings done by another dentist a few months ago and it appears they did not do what they said they were going to do. I happened to be in encintas on a trip and my teeth started hurting so bad i went to the emergency room. The day after i was scrambling to find a dentist. No one would see me for a consultation. Enter dr chong and his staff. They are in the same plaza as everbowl the wife goes to and i found them online. I walked in and they showed LOTS of compassion and care and squeezed me into there schedule. I might of even took up a bit of there lunch. They took xrays , a exam and towards the end dr chong used a flossing technique which completly relieved all my pain. If you want a honest caring dentist, this is your place. read more

You don't have this issue with medical doctors saying, "if you don't do this medical procedure I'm recommending I won't treat you for anything else that you need or be your doctor any longer". Why is that treatment of patients acceptable for a dentist? One of the main issues was when they told me I needed a deep cleaning and I was going to have to pay more and have a bigger procedure; I asked if I could just have a regular cleaning and my fillings done. They absolutely adamantly refused to let me opt out of having a procedure I didn't want to have done. To me that is not okay to force someone to have a treatment or dental procedure that they are not wanting. The receptionist said they would not give me a regular cleaning or work on my fillings unless I had the deep cleaning first. I've been to dentists in other states that say a deep cleaning is only necessary for patients with gum disease and can actually cause problems for others especially if they are using medicine to treat the gums. To me it seems like dentists are using these deep cleanings to get extra money from your insurance because I have gone to someone else that said I didn't need one. ------------------ DO NOT GO HERE!!! They are scammers! Horrible customer service. They try to force and pressure you into unnecessary treatments for the money! I am not confused about insurance. I know full well that I did not require a deep cleaning of which you refused to fix my fillings OR give me a regular cleaning until the insurance responded which took MONTHS of waiting only to be denied and told you would NOT treat me unless I paid THOUSANDS of dollars for a deep cleaning!! read more

I had a very pleasant visit with Dr. Chong. I had gone to another dentist who told me that I needed a deep cleaning every 3 months and many fillings (that according to them, were not covered by my insurance). In the end, Dr. Chong did the cleaning, was honest, and told me that I only needed two fillings and surprise! they were covered by insurance. It was definitely worth getting a second opinion, plus he speaks Spanish, a plus if Spanish is your first language! I don't like leaving bad reviews but this was just ridiculous. I will say the staff were very friendly. And the cleaning was good. But after xrays, they told me I had 9 cavities that needed to be filled, with 3 additional ones to watch. I was horrified. I've only had two cavities in my entire life. They weren't sympathetic about it at all. I felt like I was being given a lecture. I went and got a second opinion from another dentist. And guess how many that actually need filling...3. That's it. & I have a few teeth to watch. But that's ridiculous that Dr. Chong was willing to drill into 9 teeth! I understand that some dentists take a more conservative approach. But from 9 down to 3....that's a huge difference. read more

I tried to make an appointment with this dentist through his receptionist, who was initially quite pleasant. I gave her my insurance information and she told me everything was set, my appointment was made for a month from now. Thirty minutes later she called me back and told me that I needed to bring in a blue and white card provided by my insurance company to 'prove' that I had insurance, after I had given her ALL the information necessary to confirm that I was insured. She was extremely inflexible when I told her that I did not have the card and that my insurance company had tried to send it to me, but for some reason, I have never received it. I understand that most dentists want to make money, but she became super rude and unhelpful when I told her I didn't have it. I would never consider going there even if I did get my card back. read more

My two kids and I have been going to Dr. Chong for many years. I have dental insurance so I can't comment on costs, but we think he and his staff are friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He will see patients on Saturdays which is a huge help if you have kids in school. The first time I went to this office, I knew I found my "dental home". The office staff and hygienist are top notch. They actually explain the treatment plan to you instead of trying to grab your credit card to talk you into procedures you don't need. Dr. Chong cleaned my teeth on the first visit and they actually looked like they had been cleaned! He did some bonding on my chipped teeth and they look great. He is very gentle and very quiet. This guy is a crook--check his record with the CA State Dental Board. At my consult, he told me I needed a dozen fillings and multiple crowns, to the tune of thousands of dollars out of pocket. #1 his demeanor was sketchy and #2 I take very good care of my teeth. I knew something was wrong so I took the x-rays and had a second and third opinion. No dental work was necessary. NONE. I reported Chong to the CA Dental Board and the State brought charges against him for which judgement was found against him--license revocation pending compliance with fines, remedial training, and probation. I needed bonding on a couple of teeth. His office submitted a pre authorization request to my insurance co and it was denied. I appealed it, and it was approved. His staff called and tried to get the insurance co to deny coverage in order to charge me more, but they upheld the approval. Curiously, he no longer accepts Liberty Dental insurance. Thank goodness. We now have a dentist with the latest technology and he found two cavities and a crown leaking (undetected by Dr. Chong). Dr. Chong was educated and trained in Mexico and provides third world dental care. read more
