I would consider exploring other options…read more Upon having our transmission rebuilt and rear main seal replaced by Gears we had an immediate oil leak from rear main seal (approximately 1 quart every 2 hours). Gears Transmission indicated they were not obligated to warranty rear main seal leak (in which they replaced). After 4 weeks of constant calls, broken promises to remedy, paying for repairs out of my pocket and pursuing legal action for reimbursement I finally received reimbursement for warranty work. To make matters worse, a broken bolt was discovered from seal install, meaning they broke a bolt and attempted to hide during installation. In addition, a loose bolt in transmission bell housing was also found. During transmission repair and warranty claim, Gears was horrible about providing updates; they only called/ returned our calls two times over this 9-week process. Granted, we travelled cross country day after receiving truck with rebuilt transmission and Gears had to use another shop to perform warranty repairs; however we had to take truck to 2 different shops of their choice so they could obtain multiple quotes and we ended up paying for repairs out of pocket after they reneged on paying their bill to vendor of their choice. Only after beginning legal proceedings did I receive reimbursement for main seal replacement.

They truly are there to provide honest, reliable service! Here's how they helped us. We haven't really needed a mechanic (which we are incredibly grateful for), but that meant we didn't know where to start when our car started starting unreliably. Upon advice from family and friends, we were convinced our starter was going bad. We went out and purchased a $330 starter. We are a one car family, so we needed that starter put on immediately. After calling several shops Monday morning, we didn't reach anyone. It was either Voicemail, or text us details and we will reach out to you. Lynn's was the first place where we got a human on the phone (Thanks Wendy!) They took us the next morning at an affordable rate. Lynn got to work right away and finished quite quickly. We went to start the car, and NOTHING. I was devastated. Lynn immediately went into investigative mode and soon found the issue. It was actually something much simpler that we didn't even need a mechanic if we had taken it to Lynn BEFORE we bought a starter we didn't need. What showed his true character was his willingness to help us get the new starter off and the old one back on, saving us $330.

We were told Monday 3/2/2026 that the Intake Manifold Gasket was leaking so badly that they couldn't tell if there was another leak. We were quoted a price of $780 to fix that and the oil pressure sending unit. At this point we decided to pick the vehicle up. 3/4/2026 I called Lynn's shop today and yes I was upset about paying a large sum of money and having nothing but problems since. When I asked about if the rear main seal leak was ever fixed he said no, that they replaced the oil pan gasket. When I asked him about why we would be having a significant leak with the intake manifold gasket at only 17,000 miles after the swap he said and I quote "you should now about parts by now and how bad they can be" Did I raise my voice absolutely, as did he. When I asked him if his shop guaranteed their work and if so what he wanted to do to make it right he hung up. I immediately called back and heard Wendy say it's him again and he said to just hang up. Message received loud and clear Fyi, if they install a refurbished Advance Auto motor for you Advance Auto has no direct interest in the warranty of the motor as they are only the platform used to sell the 3rd party engine. Per Advance Auto Engine and Transmission Warranty Support: "It is their responsibility for fulfilling the warranty obligations. The shop that made the original purchase needs to speak directly with the manufacturer". Her truck was brought in on a few separate occasions to address the continual engine oil leak problem which was ultimately never corrected. I am just now stepping in to try to get this situation resolved.... Advice: keep records and get everything in writing when dealing with this shop.

The last update I had regarding what the business, which I set up a PRIVATE ACCOUNT. The contents within that account belonged to me and should have taken a court order to confiscate. As I was saying the owner told me the car was going into the garage and would be ready Tuesday, and the business was closing, therefore the business worked off business hours to make a decision on the vehicle. The owner did not contact me and tell me the business was releasing the vehicle. He told me that when I called the first minute the business replopened. On Monday the owner told me he no longer had the vehicle and that it went to a storage unit and I could go there and get my stuff. You stole my stuff. You're jamming everything together. Yall knew I was sleeping and working in the car. You did a fundraiser to come up with the money so I wouldn't end up living on the streets and then take everything back, after business hours and without notifying myself of desolating of the account I set up with your business. Everyone knew of the circumstances, the car was being fixed for myself knowing that other had made a donation to myself. Several people donated to keep me from having to live on the streets. I lost my job because of this.
