Stuffed Baked potato
Angela M.

Just look at this potato. This box was heavy. I could only eat half and it was delicious. I love the variety of bbq sauce you can choose too. As usual the staff was very friendly and inviting. Love this place.

Strip Mall they are in

This place is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. And I love BBQ more than I should. Brisket is moist, tender, and smoky. Ribs are delicious. It is all delicious. Insanely good. Don't miss this spot. Only open for lunch (close at 3) or when they run out it's gone. Don't be fooled by the run down strip mall.

The place looks sketchy outside. Don't let that stop you from this hidden bbq magic! You'll walk in and have to go down a long hall way. That where you'll order. Service is what you expect from a local place. But the food amazing. Everything was perfect. Our favorite was the brisket!

I haven't been here in over 6 years. Located in a dilapidated shopping center in this small town. They have wooden picnic tables inside. Had the smoked chicken option, which was not bad. Variety of options and will depend on one's hunger. Ribs, brisket, sausage, and chicken are the main staples with sauces ranging from mild to hot. I chose Cajun flavored one. For a quick lunch, this is a good option. To entice people to dine here, each day is dedicated to professionals with discounted rates. Monday are law enforcement and first responders and Tuesdays are for military personnel.

Slammer Jammer

This place has very little decorations on the inside, but they aren't needed because it's all about the 'cue! It was my first time and the staff was very helpful and friendly. I had the Slammer Jammer sandwich (smoked sausage, smoked pork, smoked chicken, cole slaw, pepper Jack cheese, and spicy slammer jammer bbq sauce), a side of smoked Mac and cheese, and a drink for only $9.50 plus tax!! The sandwich was outstanding. The meats had a subtle smoke flavor and were delicious. They didn't skimp on the portions either. It really filled me up. The smoked Mac and cheese was just ok. It wasn't super cheesy or creamy and tasted a little dried out. My beverage was a mango lemonade and it was so good, I got a refill to take on the road with me. For the amount and quality of food for the money, this is the best lunch value I've found in southeast Alabama.

First off I'm from Texas, so initially I'm Already skeptical about trying Brisket in other states. But I got to give a total high-five to the person(s) who smoked the briskets here! Full of flavor, great Smokey taste, moist but not too moist; overall a very good job!! The sandwiches are huge and more than fairly priced! Heck, even the sweet tea was good, although I always get 1/2 sweet & 1/2 not sweet. Mac'n'Cheese....meh, I do Not recommend it all. Mushy, overcooked, very greasy, questioned if there was even cheese in it all?? Idk, but I won't be getting it again. If you haven't tried this place yet, you MUST!! I'm definitely recommending to all of my friends!

Pork Plate. Comes with two sides, sauce, & a roll or cornbread.

Some of the best BBQ in the Fort Rucker area, supporting a business which supports the community.

Choppers from outside

Since I moved back to the Wiregrass area of Alabama, I wanted to try some BBQ that was not in Dothan. Choppers Old School BBQ was the first to make the list. Choppers is located in a not so quaint shopping center on the east side of Daleville but don't be fooled by the run-down shopping center outside. Choppers looks like it is recently painted and is very clean inside. When you enter, you walk down the hallway to the counter. While you walk down the hallway, you notice the pretty large dining area with tables and picnic tables. There is also a wall you can sign and another wall that has a painted hog on a motorcycle. If you still question your safety, there were a lot of men dressed in their Army gear who works at Fort Rucker that was in Choppers the whole time I was. When I get to the counter, I inform the lady that this was my first time coming to Choppers. The first thing she asked was how hungry I was (always a great question). Since this was my first time, I like to sample as much as I can. I love BBQ joints with 2 and 3 meat plates and I went big with the 3 meat plate. As I looked at the menu, something unique about Choppers is that they have 5 unique BBQ sandwiches on the menu that look like are worth a try. You will just have to look at the photos for the one of the menu to find them. I will also like to note that at the counter that there is a note that if anyone posts a review of Choppers, they are entered in a drawing for a free meal. So draw me please? My 3 meat came with brisket, ribs, and pork. They loaded my plate down with brisket. Usually with combo plates, you don't get as much of one particular meat. I'm glad they loaded me down with brisket instead of the ribs and pork, because the brisket was the best. It was tender, juicy, and a great peppery rub. Next time I visit, it will be for the brisket. The pulled pork was good too. It had a little sauce mixed in and was pulled pretty fine. The ribs I didn't really enjoy. I couldn't place my finger on why. They had a good dry rub on them and wasn't tough. It seemed like the 2 I had didn't have a lot of meat on them. Either way, the brisket was the best out of the meats. Choppers made my day as a sauce-aholic with 7 different kinds of BBQ sauce! The 3 on the table to me, were the best of the lot. Those 3 were Tangy Bite (sweet mustard), Sweet Smoke (sweet, smoky ketchup), and Kickin Cajun (ketchup base with some cajun spices and hot sauce mixed in). The Cajun had a mild to medium heat to it. I loved all 3 and can't tell you which one I enjoy the most. The other 4 are at the counter with the refill center. Those 4 are Spicy Mustard (like the Tangy Bite but a little spicy), Carolina (vinegar style with mild to medium heat), Mango Haberno (very fruity, weird, and hot), and Devil's Spit (smoky, made with ghost pepper, and also hot). Out of those 4, I liked the Carolina the best. The spicy mustard didn't taste much different than the Tangy bite. The Mango Haberno was just weird to me but the guy behind the counter told me it went well with sausage. The Devil's Spit wasn't as hot as I thought it would be but I would rate it a 7 on my heat scale. For my sides, I chose potato salad and slaw. They came in about a 4 oz. cup. I felt like I didn't get a lot but that was ok compared to the amount of meat I received. The potato salad was a good mustard base. The slaw was a mayo base. I liked the potato salad better than the slaw. My brother got the mac and cheese and I tried it. It was good mac and cheese but I liked the potato salad and slaw better. The best side though was the corn muffin by a long shot! Holy Cow! If you love sweet cornbread, it is a must have. I would have been happy getting a plate of brisket and corn muffins. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet...very sweet. The only thing I can say I wish was a little bit better were the sides. They were good but I'm not coming back for the sides. I will be back to Choppers for more brisket, muffins, sauce, and those unique sandwiches.

This will put you to bed, delicious.

Great BBQ joint, veteran owned and easily satisfys your meaty cravings. Ribs were killer, chopped brisket definitely on point. Recommend the bake beans too, awesome flavor. Cornbread had a unique flavor and consistency -- definitely worth the visit. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is laid back. You absolutely have to get a bannana pudding -- it is amazing!!!

Best brisket/ sausage sandwich I've had!

Don't judge a book by its cover. Great food made by great people. My personal favorite is the brisket sandwich.

Awesome food and the portions were excellent. Their bourbon bbq sauce is absolutely out of this world. Probably the best bbq in the area.

I discovered Smokin' Bones by driving to my bank up Union Ave. toward downtown Ozark. The owner's name is Chuck and he went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied. He asked me if I liked fall off the bone or firm ribs. I have never had that question from any BBQ joint. I went with the rib plate with potato salad and Mac and cheese and a medium pork sandwich. First of all, the ribs were magnificent. They were fall off the bone like I requested and had an excellent smoky rub/bark to them. The pork sandwich was also fabulous. The pork was seasoned well, moist, and tender. The sides were ok. The mac and cheese was made with shells. It didn't taste like Velveeta so there was some homemadeness to it. The potato salad is different from the normal potato salad you find in Alabama. The potato salad was heavy on egg and no mustard at all. However, I hated the sweet tea. It tasted like it was made with a sugar substitute. Smokin' Bones got the most important part right. The BBQ was superb. I am thinking there are better sides though than what I chose and maybe it was just me about the tea.

The inside is very homey, and the atmosphere is very nice. The service is absolutely amazing, and there's faint Korean music playing in the background. On to the important stuff... the food. It. Was. Amazing. Feel slightly bad for saying this, because I like all the other Korean restaurants in this area, but I think this is the best. I got #13, the spicy squid and pork. I normally don't bother to eat the rice, but the sauce was so good, I needed something to soak it up. My partner got #5, the rice cake and dumpling soup. It was also very good, with a nice umami flavor. Also came with clear noodles. Would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and will be coming back soon! Picture of leftovers is just to show how much food I had left even after overeating a bunch!

This is clearly a family owned and operated business and their pride of ownership shines right through. We were met by an extremely polite and pleasant Korean woman that sat as anyplace we chose. She immediately took our drink orders and gave us some tips on the genuine. The building is clean and the atmosphere is very casual. I ordered Raman and my wife ordered mackerel. The food arrived within ten minutes and it was authentic, fresh, hot and extremely good. If I lived in Daleville, I'd be a regular. The bill was 30 dollars for a filling lunch for two. Very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant as the food and service are first rate.
