The pho was good and the people were nice but sitting at the counter gave me a front row seat to two extremely dangerous issues. 1) The noodles for the vegetarian pho - specifically made with veggie broth - was cooked in the same water that she was cooking shrimp in. The cook literally pulled the shrimp out for someone else's dish, put in my noodles, cooked them a minute, then put them in my bowl - AND LET SOME OF THE SHRIMP WATER DRIP IN. I'm not allergic to shellfish but that could be literally deadly for someone who is. Not to mention, vegans and vegetarians and people who just don't like seafood. 2) After the shrimp broth debacle, we saw the cook touching raw beef with her gloved hands. Gloves? Nice. What happened next? Not nice. She took those same raw-beefy gloved hands and grabbed a big handful of bean sprouts to put on a plate, then grabbed cilantro. Talk about dangerous cross-contamination. Luckily this happened at the end of our meal so we were already done with our food. If you don't mind the fact that this place might kill you, or at the very least give you horrendous food poisoning, the portion was big for $15 and the taste was good. read more

This restaurant is located in the Scarlet Pearl casino and is a great spot for late-night eats. We've always been greeted promptly and seated quickly. We've had a variety of items, including banh mi, pho, spring rolls, noodles with beef, fried rice and bun bo hue. My favorite is the spring rolls with large shrimp and a delicious peanut sauce. I also enjoy the bun bo hue and the banh mi. The other items are fine, but nothing really stands out about them. Saturday night in South Mississippi isnt like any other major city because majority of the restaurants or places to get food are closed. So in the case of wanting to eat out late what would you do? Head over to one of the local casinos and find a place to eat at! Theres plenty of late night places to eat at with a variety of choices to choose from. In this particular night we decided to head over to the Scarlet Pearl and try out the Vietnamese noodle shop named Chopstx known for dishing out their famous noodle soups. We heard all talk about this place read the reviews so this was the night we can finally expierence it. Located in the right side of the beautiful lighted casino lays this small well clean restaurant with a couple tables but plenty of bar space. We were greated immediately and sat down to a table where we ordered our drinks. The menu is limited to a couple of items but any real foodie knows that your in the right spot to eat due to doing more with less. We went ahead and ordered the honeydew boba with rainbow jelly and wow the flavor was fruity not to sweet but not to bland. Jelly was done perfectly and just the right amount if ice was added. For our entrees we ordered a bowl of Pho tai and Mi hoanh thanh. Within minutes of ordering 2 piping hot bowls were layed below our eyes steaming with aromatic greatness! The bowl was a nice size with plenty of rare steak piled on laying in a nice fatty soup broth. I went ahead and squirted my lemon wedge provided with the freshly green thai basil and bean sprout to complement my soup. I then dashed some black pepper over the top and gave it a nice swish! I took one enormous slurp and I was smiling. The flavor was spot on with the herbs and spices doing there role from everything to the cinnamon, corriandor, star anise, and cloves. It was a beautiful nutty, salty sweet flavor dancing around in my mouth. I dove into the noodles and slurped one gigantic bite before burning my upper mouth but still began slurping to this wonderful masterpiece sitting in front of me. The noodles were perfectly cooked al dente " to the tooth" I was one happy full person before the night ended. Everything was great but for being a high class restaurant in a hotel I couldn't figure out why we were given wooden disposable chopsticks. They were so hard to eat with and the spooons seemed a little short. Overall nice spot and all the ladies working there were really nice and helpful. Over-rated. There's no way I'd pay for this mess (even though I kind of do, based on casino play & "free" food comps.) The proteins have a rank taste. Minus the noodles served with rare beef, there is absolutely no way any of the proteins are prepared fresh. It's precooked (perhaps even frozen) and reheated & assembled upon ordering. And it's obvious from the taste. The pork dishes have always been fatty, so much so that I settled with banh mi ga nuong (grilled chicken sandwich.) The sweet chili mayo paired with sliced cucumber and shredded carrots, and cilantro is divine but, could be greatly improved if they used fresh chicken pieces, instead of that dry, red-tinted, reheated dog-chewie stuff they use. Dishes with onions- well, this place not only tosses in double size portions of green onions but, double portions of red onions too. So if you like onions, this is your place. Had I just ordered the beef noodles, it would've easily been a 5-star experience. The beef was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. Umm, my mom loves this dish. This was my first time trying it and it was just existing in a bowl. Like, it was okay. Lacked flavor. Since I was in Diberville I decided to swing by the Scarlet Pearl and pick up dinner before heading home. To say it was a mistake would be an understatement! Never greeted or acknowledged by the waitress, the cook smiled at me but I understood that she was busy and couldn't take my order. After a considerable amount of time I couldn't wait any longer. When a customer comes to my place if business I always acknowledge them and tell them someone will be right with them but that type of customer service apparently isn't considered at the Scarlet Pearl. I stopped and spoke to an employee on my way out and asked to speak to a food and beverage manager who never showed. As it turns out the supervisor I spoke to was Ashley in Security who apologized and offered to make things right. This person understood customer service better than anyone in this Casino. Although I wasn't in there to gamble when I do I expect the total Casino experience which includes customer service. I see in reviews that I am not the only one who's experienced the same behavior. Apparently that's probably why the guy who was paying his bill when I arrived left such a small tip. Note: food and beverage manager don't bother responding. Wow!!! This is a hidden gem of a spot that's right in front of your face when you visit the Scarlet Pearl in Biloxi. The PHo is tops and I've had many a bowl from Virginia to Florida.
