Food was okay, flavor was below average, the onions were raw, I guess because it was a substitution and they forgot and just threw them on my plate at the last minute. The chicken seemed good except there was only 2 tablespoons of chicken. The rice had crunchy bits in it and can only happen in when it's old. Went cause we had a craving for Pho. When we showed up they were closing in about an hour. The menu is very extensive, and when we asked our waitress about specific items, she said she wasn't sure, but didn't ask anyone else for clarification. Our group ordered and the food came out, everything was pretty good. I tried something new, the crispy egg noodles, and wish I would have gotten what I normally order at Vietnamese restaurants, vermicelli noodles or pho! My partner got pho, and it was good. We were with another couple, and when we asked for the check, they split it evenly, even though we had ordered more than them. Finally, once we paid, they literally walked out after us to lock up. Stopped in to grab a banh mi to go & immediately after one bite I could tell that something was wrong. The bread's taste and texture was very stale and I could tell the ingredients were not fresh. Resturant is nicely maintained, seating area is tight, but luckily I was the only guest when I visited. I had two apps, the spring roll with peanut sauce and 6 pieces of fried shrimp. Both packed with flavor and worth ordering. I believe I ordered the #15 extra large meat bowl of Pho for an additional $2.50 charge. Only complaint it was a large but what I am accustom being from California and paying for additional charge it wasn't a large but a standard size. At first I was skeptical because all I smelled was the cinnamon or maybe Chinese Five Spice trio but it all worked out and made for a memorable bowl of pho. It was roughly $9.00 for a standard bowl. Came in for a quick bite. The dining area is rather cramped but not uncomfortable. I was quickly served but refused a menu because there was already a large signboard offering banh mi sandwiches. Service was very friendly and fast. I ordered two sandwiches: the Dac Biet (special) and the Grilled Pork. They came out very fast and the presentation looks much better than the last time was I here (see photos). Drinks come in cans but I just ordered water. Both sandwiches are excellent: the grilled pork is fresh, comes in a fresh crispy baguette, and filled with fresh cilantro, pickled daikon, shredded carrots, fresh jalapeños, and mayonnaise. The combo sandwich is filled with Vietnamese cold cuts, ham, and head cheese. Both sandwiches are priced very well: less than $6 apiece, giving fast food chains a run for its money! This is the first place I ever had pho, about 8 years ago. I wish I had tried it much earlier in life. I would have been a much happier person. Pho is my favorite thing to eat, and VK is one of the places where I like to eat it the most. The restaurant is in an older shopping center on the north side of Highway 90. The parking lot is nice and large and there is parking immediately in front of the restaurant. There are only perhaps about 8tables in the restaurant. There's not much in the way of decoration. The place is clean and simple. I have had many different things from the menu, but my favorite hands down is the pho - eye of round with tendon and extra tripe. I like mine with the accompanying cilantro, mung bean sprouts and basil with just a little Chile paste. Delicious. Pure joy. Their broth for the pho is one of the best. You can get Thai tea (delicious) and if you are in need of caffeine a Vietnamese Coffee will wake you up. Both I had for the first time here. The springs rolls are delicious as are the egg rolls. Service is always good. But bring CASH because they don't take credit cards. There is an ATM in the restaurant. It's just a little inconvenient. That's the only reason for not giving it the 5th star. read more

Food really isn't bad! Truthfully just a bad experience. Server was sick, hacking up a lung, and blowing his nose at the counter. He wasn't washing his hands after either. When nobody was around, he pulled his mask down and coughed without it on. I don't even care about COVID. It's just nasty & unsanitary. After not washing his hands, he brought food out to us. I was disgusted. I didn't eat.. if you get sick soon & just ate here or ordered from here, it's probably why. Please send your sick employees home. Fried dumplings were very good. Wife got Vietnamese style Pad Thai. Made with wide noodles much like Pad Won Se in many Thai restaurants. Came with handful of bean sprouts along side. Would have preferred they had been cooked in at the very end. Wife said it was not that good. I ordered the Seafood Pho which was taken back after lady said "this is not right" before she put it on the table. In a few minutes she brought it back and I asked what was wrong before? She told me that cook has given my Pho to a take out order and sent me their vegetable Pho. Ok, I asked for a spoon and she pointed to the little plastic soup spoons which I do not like. I order a large Pho to go, I was so amped to eat because i was feeling a little under the weather. When I got back to my hotel room, I quickly opened it up and boy do these people skimp!! Everywhere else I've went I love alway got tons of cilantro and onions but this place is not having it. Second, the baby chopsticks they gave me had me fighting for my life trying to fetch the noodles. The broth wasn't as flavorful as others I've had. Here latlety I been searching for the greatest pho spot on the gulf coast and have yet tried out this place. Located in ocean springs in a shopping center lays VK noodle house. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and was seated right away. They have tons of items on the menu from Pho, rice plates, and even po boys. I went ahead and ordered the Pho with brisket and within 5 minutes it was sitting in front of me with steam releasing from the bowl. It was served with fresh green twigs of cilantro, fresh thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno slices and a big chunk of lime. The first thing i noticed was how much beef fat was in the soup from the bones and meat. I got really excited and wanted to dive in and take my first slurp but didnt because i had to add the herbs and bean sprouts with the freshly squeezed lime. After I garnished my bowl and mixed it up really well i took the first sip and wow it was just as good as it looked. The meat was really tender and the noodle were cooked right. My only complaint was I could tell they use alot of MSG. I found myself really thirsty and tired after eating there. Please stop with MSG!!! This is a hidden gem in Ocean Springs. I have been here several times and I'm always impressed. It's in a strip mall and doesn't do any advertising so if you don't stumble upon it, you will probably miss it. It's all made to order and delicious! They will happily work with you if you are vegan, vegetarian or even pescatarian which is wonderful. The lady behind the counter is great because she has been there since it opened and knows the menu completely. She saved me from eating something that I didn't realize I had ordered. Whew! The fact that this place is now called VK Noodle House instead of Chef Scott Noodle House, even though it is still owned by the Chef Scott family says it all - VK Noodle House falls short of the standard of quality established by the Chef Scott Sushi Restaurant located in downtown Ocean Springs. This fact is particularly disturbing because the Chef Scott family is Vietnamese. Thus it is very disappointing that the family would run one of the best Sushi restaurants in the area and yet run such a low quality Vietnamese restaurant. Upon entering this restaurant, you see that it is very nicely decorated, although it is a bit on the small side, compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The server who comes up to greet you is not Vietnamese. While having a Vietnamese server is not a sign of a good Vietnamese restaurant, as a Vietnamese person, I find it a bit off putting, as I go to Vietnamese restaurants for communion just as much as I go for the food. So not being able to order and speak in Vietnamese, to not be able to ask what's going on in the community is a bit of a letdown. But a restaurant should be judged on it's food. And in this aspect VK Noodle House gets low marks. While the flavors are authentic, suggesting that there is Vietnamese cook in the kitchen, the presentation and quantity ratio are off. I ordered a bowl of pho with round eye steak, tendon, and meat balls. My bowl of pho came out with three small meat balls, one or two pieces of tendon, and a place of rare round eye steak. So essentially, it was a huge thing of noodles in broth with barely any meat. The one impressive point was that they had the foresight to leave the rare steak on the side so the person eating and dip it in the broth to cook it to their liking. Other places put the rare steak in the broth when they bring it out, which causes the meat to become well done, which is not the desired effect. But on the whole, the proportions were horrible. Too much noodles and not enough meat. I felt cheated. I've had other meals here that I thought were decent, but I don't know that I'd go back out here again unless I got really sick of all the Vietnamese food over in Biloxi or D'Iberville. read more

Today I order a pho soup from this establishment. Upon eating my pho I discovered a long hair in my food. I called the waitress over and showed her the hair and asked to have my dish remade. She took the dish to the back and after waiting over 20 mins I asked about my pho. She went to check on my dish and returned and asked if I still had the hair, to which I answered no!!! She then went on to say the cook/owner was refusing to remake my dish. I literally had been waiting now about 30 mins for my dish to be remade. I then told her to forget about it. I have never in my life had a restaurant refuse to remake a patrons dish when a hair was found in the dish. That is filthy and unsanitary. After calling the owner/cook's daughter, who obviously encouraged her to do the right thing, the dish was remade. Myself, along with my lunch companion were bewildered by this behavior. It looked good and tasted good in the past, but this type of service is unacceptable!!! I will never spend another dollar in this establishment. read more
