Wow! I'm basking in the warm afterglow of my clay pot catfish. Huge portion and plenty of fish and sauce. The sauce spice level is on point even for a Cajun. There are pork cracklings in the sauce with the fatty catfish chunks. I'm typically not a fan of catfish fat (too fishy for my palate) but here I didn't mind at all. Picture this: pork fat mixed in with almost pure catfish fat all drowned in sauce and coating the rice. What a pleasure for the senses! I went to this place while I was in the area bc I've never seen the place first hand , we used to order delivery from them all the time . To say I was disappointed is an understatement, before ordering I asked the lady behind the counter what was the difference between the entrees of lemongrass chicken bc one came with broth and pickled vegs and the other with small rice . The lady said it was the same except the other is a bigger portion for $2 more I believe, so I ordered 2 entrees and asked about the $3 extra for xtra large plate but I was assured "this lot foot" so I said ok ...my total was $32.10 for 2 entrees , needless to say when I came home expecting to feed 4 people I was extremely disappointed at the portion size for the price and contents . I don't know if thru didn't wanna cook anymore food considering they were 45 min from closing but I WILL NOT be back . The sauce on the beef special was slightly sweet and perfect for the dish. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that it took 15 minutes after being seated before they came by to take our order. This is a wonderful restaurant in the heart of the downtown area I believe. It is hidden away in shopping center off in the corner. It is not really hidden away but not off the main road tho. You may miss it if you are not looking for it. You may notice in the pictures I posted; it looks like not many people eat here. But you are mistaken. Even though not many people eat in the restaurant. They very busy with to go orders. At one point? They had a small line for just ordering and picking up. They offer many wonderful Vietnamese/Chinese cuisine dishes. Mainly Vietnamese tho. You find they offer many different types of dishes that other restaurants don't offer. Forgive me, I am no expert or grew up with this type of cuisine. From my experiences with them. I will say the flavor is very good. The service was excellent. I forgot to get his name but he knows the menu by heart. So good he recommended several different things and did not write anything down. I was going to get the fried whole fish ( pompano); he said it would take a while to cook (about 20 minutes) but he said it was worth it. We decided not to get it since it would take a while. So we opted for the green muscles instead. All the dishes we ordered came out fast. Especially when we changed our order last minute. The dishes we ordered were all excellent. Very delicious. The appetizer bi cuon (fresh spring rolls) we ordered was very tasty. Sad it was only just two. However, very delicious and right size and with that super addictive peanut flavor sauce. With that particular fresh spring roll. The wrap is a bit chewy and shedded pork can get a bit out of hand. As for the main course, we ordered the Mi Xao Thap Cam ( crispy noodle (bird nest) combination) and the Chem Chep Xao Gurng Hanh ( green muscles with ginger and green onions ) with a small side of jasmine rice. All were delicious. The sauce can be a bit salty but the rice definitely cuts down on saltiness. Do not be discouraged by this. Just giving you a heads up and hack about it. All of them are very good and well worth it. We wash it down with glass of Thai tea and chrysanthemum tea. The seating area is good and can accommodate few large groups. The middle tables look comfortable and can handle four to eight people. Or more depending upon it if connect multiple tables together. As you reference the photos. Table seating has hard wood seats. They are comfortable but no padding. We sat on the outside area and sat in a booth. It was no couch but comfortable. They have large flat screen TV hanging on the wall. No close captions. No Wi-Fi provided or offer military or first responders discount. They do accept cards. Of course, cash is king. Nice place to stop in if you are in the area and want something different and great food with excellent service. Few dishes you cannot find on the coast so far. read more

This restaurant really saved me on days I didn't feel like cooking, after a crazy Friday night, or simply when I'm craving a warm bowl of soup. I'm a big fan of their rare beef pho-- seriously cures the soul! On top of that, their spring roll with peanut sauce is just a great taste of freshness. At the time of this review update I have had over 112 checkins here for dine in or to go orders. The reason for my decrease in rating is their dine in customer service has substantially declined. Let's be honest service has never been top tier to begin with, but now it's to the point where you don't even get your original drink order much less a refill. Having to ask for utensils, getting a box for leftovers is every visit now. To make matters worse, the cell phone usage displayed behind the register by employees has gone up.... My future visits will only be takeout only. I'll just have to double check the order before leaving because getting orders correct is about 90% of the time. I still rate their food as the best on the Coast, but I'll start exploring other options in the area. My hope is that the owners make changes in the near future. read more

We stopped by here on a road trip and were glad that it is located not too far off the freeway. It is in a larger strip mall, but we had no problems finding a parking spot nearby around 8pm when we were there. Upon entering, the restaurant is kind of dark and there were only a few other parties there. We did see some to-go orders go out and food delivery services while we were there though. We got the usual pho tai and I loved that they asked whether my kid wanted all the veggies or not. We got them for her without and the food came out fairly quickly. Maybe it was late in the day, but the broth was a bit fatty and not as fresh tasting as other places I have been to. The portion size was good though and they kept my water full. When we were done, I paid at the front and we were on our way. This place did it's job. Wouldn't go out of my way to come here though. read more

I indulged in an entire pho dac biet today and it was tremendous. 1 bowl was the perfect amount after a long day of flying and not eating anything. I've been to ~15 pho places in my life- this place has the best broth. You can tell by the fat globules (bubble lookin' things floating) there's something special and rich about it. The meat quality was fab, quantity was also decent, and it came with all the fixin's (FRESH cilantro, lime, basil, jalapeño and bean sprouts). I came around 2 on a Sunday so it was pretty empty and service was extremely quick, but as I was leaving around 330 the early dinner crowd was shuffling in and I could see it getting crowded. Decor is unassuming and they play calming, serene Vietnamese (presumably) instrumentals that put you in a state of zen. Def going to return when I'm in town! read more

The three of us stopped by today for lunch and OMG was this good! Mom had the Mongolian beef, very yummy! Wife had the Spicy Combo and it was spectacular! I had the grilled pork bowl and it was very yummy but not as yummy as her Combo! The spring roll was fantastic! The egg rolls, once they cooled down enough to eat, were crispy and just the right amount of spice. There are not many vietnamese restaurants that will bring you back but, this one does. The food is authentic and not watered down. If you are looking for some delicious vietnamese food then this is the place. Their fried chicken wings are great! Lightly batter with corn starch and deep fried. It's not like Hooters hot wing but, it is in it's own class. I believe it has a hint of fish sauce which is used in vietnamese crusine. Their Pho is what you would expect if you were going over to your mama's house for some pho. Slow cooked all day long broth only to be used for the next days business. That's how you get all that flavor into the broth. You can eat it right away. You have to save it for the next day so the flavor can have enough time to build. Their mi xao don is what I love the best in a fried noodles dish. You get these deep fried crispy egg noodles too with a stir fry made of chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, squid and lots of veggies. If you want something that gives you the kitchen sink you should try this dish. To top it all off it is topped with gravy! If your hungry go get your belly filled here an you will never leave hungry! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Customer service was so horrible that it made me uncomfortable. There's a guy that works the front and he acted as if he couldn't speak English when I needed help with ordering but he spoke perfect English towards customers who were not of color. This made me feel as though the establishment might be prejudice or racist. He was also very rude towards me and kept giving me side eye looks. And because of this, I will not be returning. My wife loves this place! When she is in the mood for pho this is the place we go to. I always enjoy the fried rice or on occasion the spicy beef dish they have. He barely spoke when I asked questions, and he couldn't give any recommendations for what was good. One of the things I always ask when I go to a restaurant is "What's good?" If you can't answer that, get someone who can help. I ended up getting the Beef Chow Mein with mixed vegetables, which I know is not their best dish, but it was good. I really wanted to try something different, but my waiter wasn't talking. He was very awkward and stood near my table silently waiting for me to make an order. Extremely irritated, this is the second time in the past month and a half that I've ordered Pho to go, paid extra for more noodles and rare beef, along with tipped, and didn't get the extra I paid for. I've been dining in here for years and it's has never been this inconsistent and I've ordered extra before and have seen the difference. First time, I Chalked it up to a error, didn't want to be bothersome, but today was pathetic. The same order size of noodles, and the same small bag of rare beef. It's half the price to double the meat and order so I expect the same portion size of each doubled. This used to be my go to restaurant fir Pho but no more. On my last visit I was extremely disappointed in not only the food but the service as well. While the Beef Pho was always fatty on my last trip the meat was all fat, so much so that it filled the saucer that I use to hold my sauces while eating and there was a strange taste in my food and drink. After the server delivered my order he disappeared and only saw him when he brought the check. Dunno if this place got a new cook or what but it took a nosedive. Tasty, delicious food. What more can you ask for. Ordered the Bun Bo Hue - flavorful, rich broth. Decent, fairly normal portion size. With that being said, I will probably check next time to see if there is a large size. Friendly, quick service. No frills meal. Then I was surprised that it cost $3 to add it on! Usually the egg meatloaf comes with the broken rice dish (at least in California Vietnamese Restaurants) and the meal would be about $10-$12. Savory pho broth blended perfectly with rare beef and fresh garnish. My colleagues ordered the chicken with vegetable lunch special and combination chow mein. Our Table was silent as everyone was enjoying their delicious food. However, the one thing that impressed us the most was their extremely friendly staff. Kudos to the dining staff, I didn't get their names but the guy and gal server treated us like old friends carrying a quick conversation. Refilled our drinks and very attentive. I ate here earlier this year when I first came out to South Mississippi and I decided to come back to see what all the hype was about with my fellow Yelper BFF's that constantly rave about this place. Since im on my mission to find the best Pho on the Gulf Coast I went off and ordered the Pho bo vien. We also ordered banh mi bo kho as well. Within minutes food arrived at our tables and everything looked great especially the fresh thai basil, jalapeno peppers, and bean sprouts to complement our dishes. They wernt stingy on the basil and that is a good thing because it adds tremendous flavor to the food. After squirting my lime adding the basil and bean sprouts giving it a swish there and swish here to incorporate everything I took my first slurp. Ehh first thing I said was " nothing special" I slurpee again and still wasnt impressed after examining the soup I noticed very little fat floating on top from the bones and realized the soup was most likely a pho based beef broth. I eat pho alot I mean ALOT and this was the first time in a long time where I had to squirt hoison and sriracha in the soup since it was lacking flavor. Normally I use those condiments as a meat dipping sauce since I dont want to take away from what the soup is but this time yea it just needed it. The meatballs on the other hand were nicely sized and tasted awesome. The whole time I was eating I was just thinking about all that MSG in the soup and quickly fell dehydrated so I ended up finishing 3 cups of water and still felt thirsty. I went ahead and tried the banh mi bo kho and it tasted great with nice fatty parts of beef. The banh mi (french bread) was old and not heated like it should be and was stale. Overall this review is strictly based on there Pho and honestly im not a fan theres plenty of other places that provide better quality pho then Kien Giang. read more

The service was friendly and oddly they played ONLY Ariana Grande music when we ate there on a Saturday afternoon. The wait for our food was ~15mins. This item is not exactly on the menu and I'm sure if you ask for it they can accommodate to your liking. I got the tofu bun (rice noodles topped w/ fresh veggies). The tofu was golden on the outside and airy on the inside. The veggies were crisp and fresh and together formed a balance with the noodles at the bottom. The sauce it came with tied everything perfectly! I think this hits the spot for any Vietnamese craving and it's probably nothing too extraordinary but this tofu bun is by far on of the best ones I have had! read more

We got two spring rolls which were perfectly fine, nothing exciting but spring rolls rarely are, lol. A plus is all the condiments on the table from Siracha, house chili sauce and fish sauce to soy and Hoisin. She had the lunch special which was shrimp and vegetables with rice and I had Bun with lemongrass beef. Hers tasted fine, nothing exceptional and mine was delicious. I tailored it with the condiments and enjoyed every bite. That dish is recommended highly. Three stars for the service and the prices. Once they drop your food off, forget about them coming back for any reason. You'll have to stand up and wave or go to the counter if you need anything else. As far as price, the Bun is $17. For a dish consisting of a few ounces of marinated top round, vermicelli noodles, and some vegetables, that's far too much, especially for a single bowl dish. It's a $10 bowl of food at most. That said, it was damn yummy so I'd recommend the place with the couple caveats mentioned. read more
