My first and last experience at Chop't Creative Salad Company in Rye, New York. Getting tired of the same old fare in the building that I work in I've been venturing out to eateries in the area during lunch. I went into Chop't Creative Salad Company on Tuesday July 23rd at 2:45pm for the very first time hoping to pick up a nice lunch. Although the layout was a tad confusing I checked out the menu and made my way to order. I asked for a Santa Fe salad from a young man that never asked if he could take my order but simply stood there with his sap pulled low, I assume observing me but I have no idea as I could only see half of his face. To his credit he put together what I asked for and added more onions when I asked. He said something like "chopper number 2" and I moved along the line in front of the "chopper" who I assumed now had my salad. He dumped it out and asked who it was I said "I think it's mine" but the woman next to me said no that it was a Chicken Salad that she apparently ordered. So despite that salad looking like it had no chicken in it at all (never mind hearing her say no chicken when she ordered) I looked over at the chopper to my left and said "Is that one mine I ordered the Santa Fe?" he said no and that it was something else. Keep in mind I could not see any salads waiting, I only knew that my salad had been moved along the assembly line. So I look back at Chopper number 2 and say "I think that's mine." He finally decided to speak. Showed me a salad in front of him (that wasn't visible to anyone standing on the other side of the counter) and said "no this is yours." Fine, he finally decided to open his mouth and answer my question. Instead of it stopping there, he proceeded to talk about me to his "friend" on his left in Spanish. Wow. That's how Chop't treats customers? By taking your sweet time to answer their simple question and then talking about them? Against my better judgment I didn't walk away right then and there. I paid for my salad, and I have to say that the people at the counter were polite. However I decided that this would be my last trip there. I might have left it like that if it wasn't for feeling slightly ill later on from the food I ate. Honestly it was probably the dressing as the ingredients looked fine, but on top of the salad not having much flavor and being in my opinion over priced, it was just insult to injury. The food is not too bad despite their apparent inability to actually deliver it in a reasonable time frame. The delivery is ALMOST ALWAYS appallingly late. Getting salad for lunch is hard enough for a lot of people. Waiting and extra hour to get said salad is horrible. Update: Ahhh.. the good old days of the deliveries only being an hour late. If I could go here everyday, I would. It's that good. And healthy! You pick everything yourself, from lettuce, to mix ins, to protein, to dressing. They whip it all together in a big metal bowl, and chop it until you say 'when'! Very healthy, and fresh - since there is always a line they must be constantly restocking the bar. On Friday, April 20th I was charged twice for an order placed over the phone. I was charged once at 11:55am which is the time I placed the order over the phone and charged again at 4:08pm. I called and spoke to the manager, Stephanie, and she says that she doesn't see where I was charged twice and that there was nothing she could do. Unfortunately, I was charged two times for this order and it's very disturbing that management refuses to investigate this matter to see what went wrong on their end. I've been a customer at Chopt for 5 years now and this is the first time something of this sort has happened and the way that management handled the situation is troubling. Honestly, the salad here today was... pretty meh. I had the Mexican Caesar. I guess I expected the flavor to be kind of stronger. And actually the first time I went here I asked for a Caesar wrap and they put chicken in it. That was a disaster, because I'm vegetarian. Really bad experience on that one. Unfortunately, it was part of a large group order, so neither did I go there nor could I do anything about it. This time around as well, I went there because some colleagues wanted to go. i had seen this growing salad chain around a few other metropolitan areas and it popped up here in rye brook. glad to have stopped in. you walk in, big menu board on the wall. so many choices. pick out a pre designed salad or make up your own from a large selection of ingredients. i had one of the daily special salads (roasted moroccan cobb salad with farro, carrots, parsnips, cauliflower, romaine and spinach) and liked it very much. charmoula vinaigrette was also very flavorful. salad wasn't cheap, but the ingredients were top notch and fresh. line moved pretty quick, but i think a lot of other salad-goers were confused about how the whole process worked. if you like salads, this place is great. read more

I love their salads. If I could, I would go there everyday - whether for lunch or dinner, it doesn't matter. You have the option to create your own salad or choose from a few of their selections. You can add and remove too if you want. They use this very cool double handled curved knife and just chop "sliding" the curve side to side - the coolest ever and I want one so I can do that at home. First off I ordered the Kale Caesar Salad. I chose to add the grilled Chicken and the Niman Ranch Smoked Bacon. I would need a Microscope to find what little chicken was in the salad, and although I was charged for it, there was definitely no Bacon in the salad. I had high hopes and they were squashed by a Bland dressing, hardly any Parmesan cheese in the salad, micro croutons, and wilted greens. Went to Chop't one day for lunch and the place was packed. All of the tables were taken and there was a long line. The line moved relatively quickly which was deceiving because I soon found out after the first line you have to wait on two other separate lines to complete your order and pay! This 3 line ordering process was a little chaotic. The first line you choose your lettuce and toppings. The second line you choose your dressing and they chop the salad for you and then finally the third line you wait on to pay. My salad was OK. Definitely nothing special and nothing I would be inclined to go back for again. Digg Inn which is located right next door is much better. read more

The only place I will ever order a salad. I usually am not one to spend $10+ on a salad, but this place is worth it. They listen to what you want, cater if you have allergies, and go the extra mile to chop it the way you want. There's always a line for lunch so be sure to call ahead and place your order in so you're not spending your time in line and not munching on the perfect salad. Now this review is tragically late. Chopt is one of my husband and my favorite places. We moved back to the area for 5 months (to be with family bridge moving to Hawaii and having our baby at GH. The staff at Chopt were always exceptional to us, I cannot stress that enough. I craved Chopt almost every day during the 5 months we were there, and the thoughtful other 1/2 knew not to deprive this pregnant mama so they all knew us well. The salad ingredients are incredible fresh and the choices are so expansive that you pretty much name an ingredient, they've got it! I often asked the staff which was their favorite dressing (there are at least 25) and they'd usually give me a sample to taste. They're lentil soups is also one of the best I've ever had. What was really surprising is that my husband and I never thought to ask if they offered a military discount (this is Westchester after all, who offers discounts for mil? I grew up in Rye and didn't even know anyone in the military before mtg the husband). But one day we came in after an event where my husband was asked to speak in uniform and the manager told us that they give military 50% off! 50%??? I'd never heard of a place doing that, usually it's 10% at best and that's typically in areas where there are bases nearby. Although we frequented Chopt for months before and loved it, there's something about that gesture that surpassed the savings...we were about to leave out family and friends and move our entire family 6,000 miles away to a place where I didn't know one person. They're gesture made me feel like they appreciated the challenges families like ours face...it was a surprising soul hug by a company. Thank you Chopt for such amazing service, wonderful employees and delicious food. I had heard many good reviews and was excited to take Chop't for a test run. I ordered my salad around 2pm to purposely avoid the busy lunch rush. It was nice to be able to add my own ingredients and they had a good selection of dressings, but overall, my salad was so-so. The end product was something I could have made at D'Agostino's salad bar for half the price. I would recommend this place if you are just trying to grab a quick bite, but if you want good food, you will be disappointed. read more

Now I'm not a huge fan of salads just because generally they don't keep me full for very long, but one day after a workout I was feeling for some veggies and I happened upon Chopped. They have about 15 salads plus an additional seasonal one that changes and a really wide variety of dressings. Both times I've been here I ordered the Palm Beach because I love avocado and hearts of palm. The ingredients are very fresh and the salad is so large that it kept me full for at least 5 hours. My only hesitation with this place (which is why they got 4 stars) is that it's expensive. The base salad without meat averages at about $7.60--$8--which I feel is kind of up there for iceberg lettuce. Add in meat and extra toppings and your looking at about $11 or more. Feel free to stop here as long as you don't mind a premium salad at premium prices! read more

This Chop't just opened up down the road from my house and I've been there 4 times already. They have an amazing amount of fresh ingredients to add to your salad. I guess you can say it's a little pricey for the salad but that all depends on what you want in it. I wouldn't pay much attention to the 1 star review. If you're going to order it over the phone and have someone else pick it up for you then you really can't expect it to be exactly the way you like. I recommend going there yourself. You can customize toppings, how chopped you want it, how much dressing and you can even get it on the side if that's your preference. read more

Very creative, but pretty disappointing. The salad was mehh and there was hair in my food. The preparer had a cold and was not fit to work there .The salad was rather bland and the vegetables were a bit old and not fresh at all. At least the other ingredients made up for it! The cashier was not too polite and also seemed like they didn't want to work there. The biggest problem I have with open salad places is that the salad isn't washed and it is easily contaminated. They seemed to have hard hearing and often messed up your order, even if you were standing right there. I would skip this and go to Chipotle next door instead. read more

Quick and casual chain salad spot located in a busy shopping center with plenty of parking. Salads will usually range $10-15 depending on what you get. My fave is the Palm Beach with chicken or shrimp. Like others have said, service can be hit or miss. The guy who I think is the manager is always friendly and upbeat and you can tell he's trying his best. The other staff arent as friendly since chopping salad all day probably isn't the most fun job. Stuff like that is minor to me, they aren't outright rude so doesn't bother me too much. Lines around 11am can be pretty long so be patient.. Nobody explained to me the format (nor was it obvious) - I ordered what I wanted and then was told "Chopper 3". What the hell is chopper 3? I legit made a scene and yelled "I DON'T KNOW WHAT CHOPPER 3 IS" , I then was indifferently pointed to one of the salad chopping stations labeled 3. I got my salad and was on my way - extra chicken and avocado jacked the price up to $18. I like this place. Ingredients are always fresh. Calorie count is listed for every single item. Seasonal salads appear every few months along with new ingredients and dressings. I really feel that the founders of this business work hard to keep things fresh. (Pun intended.) I love their white balsamic vinaigrette. Cashiers are very friendly and on a particular visit, one even generously pulled out a book listing ingredients in all the dressings so I could find out whether or not one of the options was vegan. I also appreciate that they try to source locally and from farms that treat their animals in a humane manner.
