Came here to try their famous hot dogs and it wasn't bad! this "cricket dust" made me lol and we put it on our fries. the servers were really nice here too!

As a transplanted Chicagoan, hot dogs are an art form to me. I ordered two hot dogs, great taste, the chili sauce brings an interesting twist to the flavor. Not a Chicago dog but very good and different. My wife ordered the burger and hot dog combo. She loved the dog, burger not so much. I took a bite and the taste was flat. Not a fan. The fries were amazing, hot and perfectly crispy. The staff is awesome. There was a group next to us that had I been the server I would have not been as friendly and cooperative. They get customer service under difficult situations. We will be back. Only reason they didn't hit 5 stars was the miss on the burger. By all means check them out

Genuine old timey dive with great hot dogs & fries. Very different with the sauce & sauerkraut. Servers who feel like old friends. Don't miss it.

Very friendly service, I believe I met one of the grandsons. Certainly a lot of history here. Ordered two Chris' Famous (all the way) mustard, onions, Kraut, and the special sauce. With all the toppings, I couldn't taste the actual meat. The sauce was meatless and very meh. The bun was super soft. Overall very average and probably wouldn't go back, but worth checking off my list.

We stopped in for a quick snack and the food came out fast. We sampled the dogs, fries, burgers, and onion rings. Food came out fast and it was good.

We ate here at the famous hotdog place in Montgomery Alabama. Founded in 1917, Chris' Hot Dogs have been enjoyed by every walk of life. Chris' is a place where everyone, including young and old, can dine harmoniously in this wonderful institution. They have had customers from every state in the Union, and countless guests from other countries.

Maybe I didn't get the right item here. It was not what I expected. I thought the chili sauce for the hotdog would have more flavor, be more thick. Instead it was watered down, ketchup flavored and it wasn't that great

Stopped in today for my first visit to historical Chris's. I love the old school feel of the restaurant itself and the way the staff makes you feel like family, like you've been coming there for years. The food came out quick. The only downside is the hot dog and hamburger we're just ok, not bad but not special. With the history and nostalgia you expect special. I love the vibe for sure and it's worth trying again.

I recommend visiting Chris's Hot Dogs in Montgomery, Alabama if for nothing else other than to say you did! I saw a documentary about Chris's and knew I wanted to go check it out. I recently enjoyed a cheeseburger and onion rings there, and it was a good experience. If you love history (and hot dogs and hamburgers) you'll be fascinated with all the old pictures on the wall and the old diner feel. It's evident that many memories have been collected here over the years. (Fair warning: the place is old, cramped, and in need of updates. But honestly, that's what made me like it!) The service was impressively fast, and the convenience of easy parking made the visit even more enjoyable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. If you're in Montgomery, don't miss the opportunity to savor a meal at this historic gem.

It defies all logic of concept. It's not a restaurant, but it is. It's not a grocery store, but is.... It's not a liquor store, but... It's such an interesting evolution of business man. You could never just start something like this. It's just been percolating for a good while and just evolving along the way. They now are in the whole building they lease as the concept has grown. I love to see a family business evolve and grow! It's call Derk's Filet and Vine. I was thinking steakhouse when I heard we were going here. It is a butcher shop (slash) wine and beer store (slash) grocery store (slash) caterer (slash) that happens to also sell a wildly popular Meat and Three Caferteria Style lunch that lines up people sometimes in the hundreds. Insanity. My reasons for being here are even more insane to be honest. Nonetheless, I am so glad to have had the opportunity to see this place while I am still alive. The folks working here are fantastic! Super helpful and friendly. I dig some AL hospitality! I had never been to Montgomery before. My lunch was too freaking notch!! Yum. Yum! I'll be back. It's in the stars. Written well before you or I were around or awake to realize. Can't wait to eat some fried chicken next time!! '26 - 33

We each had the turkey plate, so turkey slices and two sides each, and a "roll" which was so tiny it was almost funny, but it was hard. The dressing was fine--Not exceptional but also not awful. Our sides included green beans which made me remember my public school lunchroom. Skip those ! Be aware too that you can call and order for pickup but if you do, and your order isn't ready when you arrive, YOU must check at the SIDE counter and request that someone frequently check "call ins" --which are kept UNDER the counter (you can't get them yourself). And while the counter staff call out people's names for patrons who are sitting at tables to come and get their trays, the staff does NOT call out your name for pickups! We waited an extra 30 mins on our food -- trying not to be rude and ask. I'm glad I finally asked !! I've stopped at a few other places in this town coming through or home from the beach, and Bates is the cleanest. IF I try again, I will try the turkey sandwich.

One of my students ate lunch at this Jimmy John's with one of my colleagues. A few hours later, they realized that they did not have their wallet. After completing our prepaid tours, they checked their room around 6:30pm and could not find it. I called Jimmy John's but did not get an answer, so we walked to the location. The store appeared closed (even though it was before 7pm), but we could see a man behind the counter. I knocked and waved. He ignored. I knocked again and he walked to the back. I called the store and got no answer. He came back out, and I waved. I knocked on the door, and he looked at me, shook his head, put his AirPods in and returned to cleaning. I called the store again. We remained standing outside. We knocked again. Finally, after waiting outside for about 10 min, the worker came to the door. Through the glass, he showed us on his cell phone that he had called 911. My student and I stepped back from the door but remained in front of the restaurant. A SWAT officer happened to walk up. He was not responding to the situation but was willing to help. He knocked on the door, and the worker did not answer. When he shined his flashlight in the door window, the worker came to the door. The worker was clearly angry. He lied and said that he told me that there was no wallet found in the store and we could not come in but I refused to leave. (This showed me that he could hear my student and I talking and chose not to help us.) The officer kindly asked if we could come in to look for the wallet. The worker refused, saying that the owner wasn't there. The officer made it clear that he would accompany myself and my 15-year-old student (both of us being female around 5'0") into the restaurant. The worker refused and walked back to the store. The officer followed him and talked to him. We could not hear what the officer was saying but we could hear the worker's tone and see his face. It was honestly scary. I am grateful to the SWAT officer for attempting to help us. If he had not been there, then I would have been concerned for mine and my student's safety.
