My husband took our lawnmower to Chris Lawnmower Repair shop about three weeks ago for repair because it wouldn't stay running. And they advised him that it would be ready in 2 weeks. Then when he called to check on it after about the 3rd week they said that the mechanic hadn't had time to look at with no apologies and no proposal for a new time! So we decided to locate another shop who advised that they would have it ready in 3 days. My husband called back to say that he was coming to pick it up and they just said ok and hung up on him! We found that they were very rude and uncaring and didn't offer a solution or a timeframe. I found that their service is certainly lacking based on our experience. They were very nonchalant as if they were the only shop on this planet. This is our first an last visit; and we would never recommend their service to any potential customer. read more

I've been to Chris' exactly two times. Both times it was to have a chain saw sharpened. I had a big (dead) tree in my backyard that needed to be removed before it fell on anyone or anything. The people there we helpful. Sharpening it cost $8, which I felt was very reasonable, but I must admit, I didn't do any comparison shopping to get other estimates. The place could use a new coat of paint, but I'm happy with the service, and if I need my chainsaw sharpened in the future, I'll be back. read more

Saturday, 09/07/2019 - I've been bringing my lawnmower here every two or three years for the past 15+ years for a variety of repairs/tune-ups. Recently, I took it in and honesty thought the lawnmower had "passed away - gone - good-by." Chris went through it - fuel filter, air filter, spark plug, new blade, etc., etc. They had it back to me in a couple of hours and I was cutting the lawn at home by 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon. My bill was $100 for everything they did, very reasonable considering the cost of a new lawnmower. Don't expect anything fancy here, it's an 'ol school shop where they sell and maintain lawnmowers, edgers, weedeaters and chain saws. Nothing fancy here. They close early, so don't expect to show up at 1 or 2 PM and get something done that day. Set your alarm and be there first thing in the morning, right after then open. read more

Stay far away from this D---. Took my Echo blower that needed a pull starter that was under warranty and he immediately started to give me a story that it would take a week to repair. (4 bolts need to be removed for this repair) He started yelling at me as where is your receipt which I had in my hand. Echo should seriously consider revoking any agreement they have with Chris as he is one bad apple. read more

Chris has fixed a couple of electric Husqvarna tools for me. I've tried other places and they wanted to over charge me. Chris was reasonable and handled warranty issues for me, too. I've always been a Stihl fan, but if he keeps this up I might have to make the full switch to Husqvarna!!! read more

I took my lawn morrow to be serviced. They did a terrible job. After 7 tries it didn't start. I called them he said try 10 to 11 times. At the 12th time it started. Before when having it serviced at other places it would start after two tries. I will never never never us them again. The man at their place accused me of not knowing how to start a lawn morrow. Yet I have been able to for over 12 years. They don't even deserve 1 star. The man on the phone was very rude. read more

Very unpleasant experience! Brought my Mantis in for repair. Brought it home. Did not work at all. Put it in garage and drove it back two days later. Chris fixed it but said it had water and old fuel in it and wanted another $15 for "second" repair. I explained that I hadn't touched it since the first "repair". He argued with me in front of my kids and other patrons! Either they didn't do anything to it the first time or they don't know what they're doing. The older woman finally said they would "let me take it without paying more" like it was a big favor! Are you kidding me? This is called lousy work AND bad customer service. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Terrible. Walked in hoping to get a few questions answered and ended up witnessing a near-physical altercation between Chris, who was screeching hysterically at the top of his lungs, and another customer who was calmly telling Chris that he was being overcharged for a service that was specifically quoted over the phone. The customer also said that he didn't receive a follow-up phone call from Chris or his crew to get approval before additional work was done on whatever he brought in to get serviced. I didn't stick around for the outcome because at this point, Chris started pacing around and shrieking GET OUT to the poor customer who was still trying to explain his side of the story, so I took Chris' cue and got out of there ASAP. I don't think I will attempt to go back to Chris' again, given how disorganized and unprofessional the staff are. read more

First we'll start off with this place not deserving any stars! As we all now unfortunately we have to give them one star in order to post our opinios. My husband brought his weed wacker to get fixed here. His tool sat in the shop for a week in a half and it wasn't touched! He dropped it off on a Thursday and he was told they had to order a part which he didn't have a problem with. The part arrived the following week on Wednesday and was told his tool would be ready for pick up on Thursday afternoon. He called that afternoon to let them know he was on his way and guess what, he was told they hadnt started working on it but they assured him it would be done by Friday morning. Well we didnt go pick up the tool until Saturday. We called on our way there and the owner tells my husband they still haven't started working on the repair. And once again he's told they would have it ready by the next day. The next day was Sunday and they are closed on Sundays! Thats when my husband was fed up with bullshit so he told the owner to just have the tool ready we were going to pick it up and take it elsewhere. We get there and the owner seemed like he was ready for a fight. He gave my husband his tool back in pieces! Apparently he didn't feel the need to return the tool back as it was brought to him. Since we decided to take it elsewhere he wanted the other people to deal with it. This man immediately started cursing at my husband when he walked in. It seem like he was expecting some kind of street fight! We are better than that so we grabbed the tool and left. This man seriously needs anger management help!!! Someone yelped that it depends how you walk in. Uh no check yourself we walked in fine waited for over a week and we were treated horrible! We have standards and i choose who i give my money to. I will never come back or refer anyone to do so! Its a shame that he has such bad customer service.... read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR TOOLS HERE!!! THEY RIPPED ME OFF!!! After waiting 2 months to have a simple tune up and tires replaced on my parking lot Billy Goat blower, I finally got fed up with being told that they are "waiting for a tire to come in" and that it will be done in a couple days. I showed up on a Friday to retrieve my machine after being told it would be finished the day before to find that it was still not completed. I received extremely rude, unprofessional treatment while there and was distracted from inspecting the tool prior to leaving Chris' Lawnmower "repair" shop. I arrived back at my shop and began to notice that the blower looked much too dirty to have just been tuned up and upon further inspection and obvious clues, realized that there was 0% chance that the work had been done. We returned to Chris' shop with the machine and walked in to speak with Chris. We advised him that the work did not seem to have been done and after paying $130 for a tune up, it should at least appear to have been touched, which it did not. Chris advised us that they had left machine outside for 2 months, hence the heavy layer of dirt and grime present. Without a single question relating to our concerns or any effort to discuss, he became irate and begun screaming at us "GET OUT OF MY SHOP!" The entire matter could've been resolved quickly and easily had the OWNER showed any amount of professional courtesy. I do not recommend bringing your business here. EVER. read more

Very helpful. I brought my chainsaw in because it wouldn't start. They could have charged me anything for the repair but only charged me $20.00 and fixed it that same day. I also was looking into pole saws. Chris spent a lot of time explaining the merits of the models he had. I have a 1949 Craftsman manual "push" lawnmower. It needed a bit of repair and a good sharpening. I looked for lawn mower repair shops close to me, but none of them would tackle my manual lawnmower. I tried Sears and they referred me to a Craftsman repair number - but it was going to cost me $85 just to have them come to me - let alone the cost of the repair and sharpening. I started looking farther afield from my own neighborhood and found CHRIS' LAWNMOWER Shop on Angie's List YELP in Culver City. I gave them a call and was surprised how easily they felt they could do the work - especially after all the negative responses by the other repair shops. I took my lawnmower to CHRIS'S LAWNMOWER SHOP on Wednesday. When I got to CHRIS' I was greeted by GLORIA - who was warm and welcoming. CHRIS graciously took my lawnmower out of my car and into his shop. He has had so many years of experience repairing lawn mowers and other equipment and was very familiar with my little machine. He quoted the price right up front - and I left the shop. Within in a few days, I got a call from GLORIA that my little lawnmower was ready for pick up. I was so happy! I hadn't been able to do yardwork without it. I arrived for pick up and there it was - all nicely put together and sharpened! I paid the $42.00 and drove it home. It cuts BEAUTIFULLY - and despite it being manual (and the comments of neighbors who think I should get something gas powered) I was able to take care of my front and back yard quickly because it was so sharp. I truly consider GLORIA and CHRIS a real find. I recommend their work, their shop, and them personally. They are professional, prompt, cordial (with great smiles) - and they know their stuff. I recommend that you don't waste time with anyone else - and go straight to CHRIS' LAWNMOWER Shop for manual or powered lawn mowers - as well as all your gardening equipment needs. They were recommended to me by my tree trimmer who uses them for repairing his tools. I was happy to find a family run business... and they have been open in the same spot for the last 20 years. The place was filled with equipment and in the back is a shop where they fix the machines and sharpen tools. The reason I went there was to get my mower fixed. They were able to get it running and sharpened the blade the same day. They treated me fair and professionaly and they seemed to be the "go to" place for all of the local gardening companies. Took my Lawnboy lawnmover to Chris when it would not start. All the people at the shop were very nice and Gloria was especially nice. They charged me $40 to get water out of my fuel line and to clean the carburetor. I was very happy about that. I am going to recommend this place to everyone I know. I brought my mower here to be repaired. The owner (Chris, I assume) was not friendly, didn't give me any estimate to how long it would take, how much it would cost, or even a guess as to what he thought was wrong with it. $50 and 1 week later I got it back. I mowed my lawn once and it worked fine. Next time I went to mow my lawn was 5 weeks later (yes, I wait for it to look like a jungle before I decide to mow my lawn). It wouldn't start. I brought it in and the owner said that they only guarantee for 30 days. I explained that I had been in a car accident and my truck was in the shop for two weeks - hence couldn't bring the mower in sooner. He didn't care. He started taking my mower to the back, brought me a new form to fill out and expected me to pay him full price again for a repair - without any cost estimate or even a guess about why the lawnmower was again not working. Three weeks ago I took my electric hedge clippers to a sharpening service at a weekend farmer's market, where I was told I needed to have them sharpened by a place that did electric clippers (he only did hand held clippers). I then took my electric hedge clippers to Chris's Lawnmower Shop, requesting him to sharpen my electric clippers. I picked them up 2 days later (for a $22.50 charge). When I tried to use them last Saturday (8/17/2019), they wouldn't cut even the smallest twig. I called Chis that day and was told to "bring them in", which I did this morning, Monday 8/19/2019). Chris said they were "broken" due to "stripped gears". When I asked him WHY he would sharpen broken clippers, he said "you told me to sharpen them and I did". When I asked him if I would have requested that he boil them in oil, he said he would have done that and charged me appropriately! He felt ZERO obligation to ensure the clippers were working when the job was completed, entirely unlike ANY competitor (it is ALWAYS the shop's job to ensure that work is completed properly!!!). When I asked how much it would cost to fix the clippers, when he noticed they were "Black and Decker" brand, I was told they were NOT authorized to fix them, as they needed appropriate training for a major brand like that! Chris is "not authorized" to work on high-end clippers like that! When they then offered to find me an "authorized dealer", I said "forget it", as this was becoming a form of physical therapy I don't need! STAY AWAY FROM THIS INCOMPETENT NUT! read more

Took my mower to Chris after sitting in my shed all winter I couldn't get it started, Chris pulled on the starter and said it needs a valve adjustment, asked him to repair it and Di a complete service, when I received my machine the next day he had adjusted the valves changed the oil sharpened the blade and adjusted the cables. The machine performed as it did 15 years ago when it was new!! read more
