I was referred by Expertise Dental to get a root canal at Lowcountry Endodontics, who are conveniently located across the street from my dentist's office in Park West. I am not normally very anxious at dental procedures, but I do get exhausted and stressed, especially from holding a position for a long time and hearing the grinding and drilling noises. It's a priority for me to take good care of my teeth, so these things are necessary. So, to make it easy on myself this time, I opted for sedation and nitrous gas. It was the most relaxing, pleasant, and stress free dental experience I've ever had, with zero trauma and for me, zero side effects. You are conscious and can communicate when required, then you just sink back into relaxation. It feels like being wrapped in soft batting that mutes the uncomfortable parts of the work lol. You need someone responsible to bring you and drive you home, then you need to rest for the day. No one had to ask me twice. After I type this review, I'll have a nap, then do quiet activities till tomorrow. I could write another review just about Dr Maltezos' solid expertise and responsible and knowledgeable demeanor, as well as about the kind and knowledgeable staff. I live in Dunes West, and I am a working mom with young kids so convenience is important to me. After my dentist originally referred me to another Endodontist, I asked if I could go to Dr. Maltezos instead because his office is in Park West. My dentist said sure, and I am so glad I did. Not only was Lowcountry Endodontics convenient, the entire staff was nice, helpful, and professional. Dr. Maltezos was friendly & really made me feel at ease about the fact that I had to get root canal. He preformed several preliminary diagnostic tests to confirm that I did in fact need a root canal----because I did not not want to get one! The procedure went much more smoothly than I anticipated, and I wasn't in any pain or discomfort during or afterward. I got the root canal at 3:30, and I was able to cook dinner and eat with my family that evening and even do my normal workout routine that night. I needed a root canal and was not looking forward to it, with unhappy memories from the past and the fact that I had out of town guests waiting at home for me to recover. I had no doubt that Dr. Maltezos would be gentle and easy as he did the procedure because I had been a patient of his before. But this was a bit more complicated a surgery and, as I say, it wasn't the best f times. But the doctor wasted no time, got to work, spoke in his soft, friendly, caring voice to both me and his assistant and I want to stress that I was actually quite surprised when Dr. Chris announce that we were finished. I had a bit of a scary infection growing that I was completely unaware of and felt completely at ease under the care of Dr. Maltezos. So professional, kind, and compassionate, the entire office helped make something that could have been unpleasant very relaxing. He fixed me up in no time at all with no discomfort. I was in huge pain on a Saturday afternoon with a tooth that had bothered me before. I had a root canal that was botched and no other doctor had been able to rectify.
